This posting starts too late and ends too early. It doesn't include the beginning sequence with Annelle and, unfortunately, cuts off the best part at the end. "M'lynne, you just missed a chance of a lifetime! Half of Chiquipinn Parish would give their eyeteeth to take a whack at Weeza!" And McLaine's "pig from hell" and not-so-gentile-gesture cap off the scene perfectly! REAL shame this scene cuts it off!

High melodrama at its finest....and no one has ever done it better than Ms Fields. A bravura performance. Funny that Shirley is in this scene when she herself gave a similar daughter-death meltdown scene in "Terms" (which pre-dates this). Though, IMO, it isn't as strong. But go figure, Shirley won the Oscar for it. Sally didn't. Probably because Sally was type cast for scenes like this in "Norma Rae" she has a nice meltdown scene...and in "Cybil", forget about it, that whole movie is a meltdown
