I'm thinking about getting one but i'm afraid that the handling won't be that great cuz of the fact that it's super light. How does it ride for you? And also cuz the tires are skinnier than a 600, 750, or 1000. How much did you pay overall? Really wanna get informed about it real good before i buy one you know. Real nice bike though. Thinking about getting the red one.

yeah bro i wanna get a bike tooo i like yamaha and suzuki but the gsxr 600 and gsxr 1000 are fkn expensive 10 grand so as the yamaha r1 dont really look at kawasaki but this bike looks good for begginers and the price is good

haha sweet. i got my ninja 250 a couple months ago but went with an 02' so that it would be cheaper.. put some fresh tires on an i am set to go.. same bike basically haha. i like seeing the new ones when i am riding because i pass them up so fast they dont know whats up

trust me, on your first ride on the road, along semi trucks, cars and stop lights. your gona want less power and a steady bike. more power is for the tracks. i have learned that the hard way.

if its your first stick to 250cc bikes. till you can handle yourself then get a stronger bike. sportsbikes are harder to handle than cruisers or even dualsport, so best start with less power and keep out of the freeways

i drove my friends bandit 600 restricted to 250 and couldnt believe the power of the thing!

i have a ybr 125 for messin on and to tell the truth its a nippy fucker too.

Don't have one. I'm 17 and can't get one till i've moved out and living on my own financially. But I've been researching bikes since I was 15 cuz I've been trying to convince my parents to let me have one. But I've heard from numerous people and read lot's of reviews saying that the 250r is awesome. Nice looks and descent power. Sure you'll eventually get bored but it's a small sacrifice if you start out right and are able to ride safely and alive for years to come.

Mine is identical bro..and it rules to ride on! I agree with the rear fender...It costs around 150.00 to get it done at the shop. Everyone who sees my bike think it is a 650...It is a great bike to cruise on ...but without the torque...

you're lucky....here in switzerland you can only ride a 50cc at 16, if you want a car or a bike that is more than 125cc...you have to be 18 .

with every ride, so it is very quick to get use to the handling, I just came back from a ride in the pouring rain, not easy as when I was going past the beaches the cross wind and driving rain was pushing me sideways, but I took it very slow in the bends as the rain was so hard I could hardly see, if you can ride in those conditions then you feel more confident riding in the dry, all part of the learning curve, all in all best beginner bike by miles and love my ninja

I have the same exact bike and have been riding a couple of weeks as a new rider, one thing you have to get use to is every car on the road trying to pass or outrun you from the lights, as I am keeping the revs to under 4k and as a new rider I have to keep my ego in check and let them, knowing oneday soon I will kick there arse as there is power in the bike at the upper rpm range, and once the bike wears in I will take it up there, fantastic bike and very easy to ride I am exponentially better

What I don't get is why everyone trying to cut down the 250r cause of the speed... It still picks up real good... If you ask me this is just enough speed... you can get them easily going 100mph - 130mph like nothing you just gotta have some balls...

the 2008 model and 2009 are actually difference they have slight difference look at 2 pictures of the sides of a 2008 and 2009 side by side you'll c the difference

is much harder to do on the other bikes (impossible since this is your first bike). Also, it'll be much harder for you to get in trouble with this bike -- if you hit a pothole and ram open the throttle, your bike won't go flying. You also won't be tempted to take the bike up to over 100mph on street -- you want to keep your license, right?

All I can say is TAKE THE SAFETY COURSE! You'll have fun and learn a little something in the process. It'll make you a more aware rider in general.

As someone who has ridden everything from a GSXR to an R1 to this ninja to a little vespa, liter-bikes down to 250cc, I have to say that you will LOVE this bike. It's great that you got this to learn on -- it will definitely make you SUCH a better rider whenever you decide to upgrade. well, i hopped on the bikes at the kawasaki dealership. the regular sized bikes like the R6, cruisers, R1's.. and such, are way to big for me. and it was difficult to turn the bars, when i got on one.the dirt bikes fit me pretty good :]
