  • Thanks so much for this video! It was very easy to understand and I finished my very first loom scarf perfectly.

  • Hi, I'm currently making a tube scarf for a friend and I want the ends to be open not closed off, do you have any idea how to do this?

  • I tried this and my finished age was really tight, making it a lot shorter than the the rest of the piece. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

  • I was how or where exactly we tie on the new yarn? does it matter which side or how we tie it? Thanks!!! Your videos are very helpful.

  • Should have watched this video before trying to bind off! UGH! I lost EVERYTHING ::cries:: Oh well, I'll just start over again hehe

  • i hate this work a lot

  • ty mikey i am going to try it out ! :0)

  • Hi. I bought my loom from the Toronto Craft Show, and i have bought some knitting loom books. I have a question. I am working on a small round loom, but i put the wool on the 1peg and then the 3rd peg. Now i would like to know how to cast it off.

I do need help with it?

  • @Sweetie037 hello if you search on youtube mikey has a couple of videos on how to cast off the loom......just search how to cast off the loom mikeyssmail and they will pop up!

    chanel@ mikeys helpdesk........

  • I am new to Knifty Knitter 44 year old guy, first off I want you to know I love your how-to video's and wanted to thank you very much!!! Could you make a video showing start and stop stragglers; how to tie them off, or make them so they do not unravel when finished with hat? Keep up the great work Mikey, your a great teacher!!!!!!!!!

  • @875795 hello this is chanel from mikeys helpdesk.....to get rid of stragglers you could use a crochet hook if you have one and watch mikeys video on youtube.... just search"how to cast off and hide loose ends" its the same idea even though your loom knitting....or you can buy a large dull needle at your local craft store and sew the stragglers into the project....either one will work..... hope this helps .....chanel :)

  • I have looked at many videos for casting off and yours by far is the best! I enjoy all your videos as they are well done. They explain everything very clearly and you don't rush at all! Thanks so much! I am a fan!

  • Thanks! I just got my knifty knitter and knew it had something to do with looping the loops around each other but could not figure it out.

  • That video was so helpful. Thank you!

  • Hey stupid question, but I was wondering if you could do a how to of making a flat scarf? In this video you ready sort of have a little mini one there and now I know how to cast off when I make one. I just need to know how to start one. Please help.

  • very helpful, thanks for posting. :)

  • thanks for posting this...i am finishing a scarf & had forgotten how to cast off. ;-)

  • Why do you always skip the one peg at the very end when you double back on the loom?

  • Thank you SO MUCH for posting this! I read the book that came with my loom thingy over and over and looked at the pictures but could NOT understand what they wanted me to do. I guess I need to see a video of everything LOL. You've been most helpful!

  • Just got a knifty knitter and making a dog sweater. Thanks fopr your video. very helpful!

  • Do you do it the same way if u are knitting a tube scarf?

  • @rowanisadorable That's what I'm wondering the same thing. I'm almost done with my tube scarf... but I can't seem to know how to close it..

  • @rowanisadorable I just did it. It works

  • thank you so much that was so much easier then trying to follow those instructions in the book.

  • Thank you for this!

  • Thank you! Easy to follow, good lightening, and slow enough to do it along with you. Thanks!

  • I can't thank you enough for this video! THANK YOU!

  • Thank you so much! This was much more simple thant the instructions that came with my loom! GREAT job!!!

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love this demonstration because it is clear and is repetetive. I understand this perfectly. Keep up the great work!

  • I need some help figuring out what I'm doing wrong. I am doing the stitch just like he shows in the first part of this video, except mine IS curling at the bottom. I'm doing this on a long loom and not a round loom, but that shouldn't matter should it??

  • mikeyssmail can you do a flower loom

  • @tportner1 Mikey doesnt have a video on this nor does he take video requests you can go to the mikeyssmail page on youtube and put this in the list for tutorial ideas he is only doing this for a 2 week time period! or you can search youtube for another video to help you!

    Chanel :)

  • can you make a scarf and show how it looks? please...

  • @luzy2860683 mikey doesnt take video requests but if you go to his mikeyssmail page on youtube he has a thing running for people to make requests on what they would like to see done in a tutorial! this is only going on for a couple of weeks! if you put your idea in there he might pick it as a video he does in the near future!

    chanel

  • @luzy2860683 If he doesnt pick your idea or you dont want to do that then I would say look around on youtube for a video that can help you! I know mikey doesnt have a basic scarf loomknitting video but you might be able to find one that can help you!

    hope this helps!

    Chanel..........

  • hi! i love your videos!! I didnt even bother reading the instructions that came with my looms. I just have a few questions. i'm about finished with a scarf and i'm almost to the end if my yarn, how much should i leave to cast off?? i want it to be as long a s possible. and my seond question is. about how much yarn meeters or feet do you need for each size hat. i want to try the 2 or three strand method but i'm afraid i will run out of yarn on one of the strings.

  • OMG! Thank you, I've made a seemingly endless baby blanket because I was afraid to figure out how to finish it off without it unraveling. I just finished it off in under 5 minutes and felt confident doing it on the actual project and not on a practice piece.

  • Great videos... I've been crocheting for years but just started this a couple days ago. I tried the shawl thing and was watching your video on the "proper" way to cast off.. I tried that and didn't like the effect. Anyway, this is the proper way to do it.. Here's a suggestion to avoid the one side being too tight. When you are looping and pulling through, DON'T pull up the slack of the string when you move it from peg to peg, just leave it loose. Doing this keeps the stretch in the end...

  • @Gmabats - wish I'd read your comment before finishing my baby blanket, the end I did the cast off on is kind of bunched up, I'll be sure to try leaving plenty of slack next time. Any way to get rid of this "tight" end after finishing the cast off?

  • Fantastic teacher! Thank you for your easy to follow instructions!

  • thanks uh a little long but thanks

  • Just what I have been looking for. thank you

  • So sorry I did not do a search to see if you had done one. Thank you so much. Your videos are superb.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!! i ended my scarf ive been working on for 2 weeks... im so excited to actualy wear it!!!

  • Thank you so much! I love all of your videos! :)

  • I am so happy I found these videos! I have been trying to learn knitting with needles & have been having a hard time, so last night I went & bought a pack of circular looms & then realized I had no idea how to use them! Thanks for making these so informative & easy to understand!

  • This is the best video ever!!! i used this on the square loom and it worked good too!!!! thanks so much i couldnt figure it out on my own!!!!

  • So wonderful! I found this easy to understand. Is there a way to loosen up the part we bound off(mine was too tight.)?

  • Thank you so much, that was so easy to understand and I got the hang of it right away! You're awesome!

  • thanks so much for posting! I REALLY needed help and this was perfect! =)

  • Thank you - this was great!

  • This just made my girlfriends day! thanks for sharing buddy =D

  • hey how do you cast off a full circle piece????????

  • I was doing a full circle piece, and I did it exactly how he just showed. Just start at the last peg you pulled a loop over and work to the left.

  • Thanks, this helped me finish off my first scarf. Now in my favorites.

  • yey! thanks that was exactly what i was looking for
