Remember, the "persecution" of Falun Gong began when it became clear that it was a political organisation. If it were all about meditation and calisthenetics, The Taiji practitioners would be subject to the same treatment!

After Nomonhan the japanese ignored tank and artillery technology (though they did concentrate on their aircraft) and would AGAIN suffer terrible defeats at the hands of the American, British and Australians in the South Pacific as a result.
ONLY when the Soviets/Russians completely overwhelmed the imperial japanese army in "Manchuria" in August 1945 did the japanese finally begin to "get it".

At Nomonhan in August, 1939, future Soviet hero general Zhukov unleashed a combined armor, infantry, artillery and aircraft attack on the japanese (this combined arms would be used by the Germans too and it was called "blitzkrieg") and achieved a "double-envelopment" of the japanese forces. The japanese suffered 75% *killed* in their encirclement.
The imperial japanese army was astounded by the scope of the defeat at the hands of the Soviets/Russians. And they did NOT learn.

With what armed forces the Chinese had consisting almost entirely of infantry and little else and led by incompetent/corrupt generals/warlords, the imperial japanese armed forces sliced thru the Chinese - all the while committing horrific and barbaric atrocities against Chinese civilians - "armed forces" easily. The japanese were lulled into believing the imperial japanese army was a modern efficient armed force from fighting the Chinese. China of the 1930s didn't have a central government despite the claim Chiang kai-shek "ruled" China when the reality before the japanese invasion Chiang only defacto ruled about 20% of China with rest ruled by defacto independent warlords and the Communists. Thus when the japanese invaded China they faced a weak divided country with no real armed force.

@shiaiii many countries would still have gained independence tho. Take HK for example, were still a colony till the 1970s. Independence will happen when there's nationalism, china would take back colonial states ww2 or not. It would be sooner if it's not for japanese invasion, and by then china wouldn't be a communist state. The political state by then would be far less bloody.
And I would still be living in china instead of malaysia hahaha xD
