Why? Because you restart your whole device then start with 0 apps/like when its brand new. But you can resync back your downloaded apps from itunes. But some apps cant be sync because there is some applications that is restricted to some ios. Exemple:You cant sync one app because its for 4.x and your is 3.x.x

I followed your instructions exactly. Even put my iPod in DFU Mode, and I got that message "error 3194". I just went to reboot my iPod and it wouldn't come on, I managed to figure out how to get my iPod out of DFU Mode, so yeah, I can still use my iPod. I just recommend that people dont do this. :)
