  • YES!!! I love your list! Everything is exactly how I would have listed it! I'm gonna check out tales of fantasia now! Thanks!

  • kkkkkkkkkkk

  • HAHAHA Lost gamers Nbb

  • wheres Earthbound

  • agree with you suikoden 2 was 1 hell of a good game stil bummer i didt find xenogears and xenosaga 3 in your list those 2 are 1 of my favorite 2 but then again its your list ^^

  • You sir, are awesome.

    Suikoden II < all

  • I like Oblivion? :)

  • No no no no the best console rpg iiiiiis Chrono Cross!

  • Can I play Suikoden 2 without having played suikoden 1. Will it make any major differences. I can easily get them both working on an emulator....I just would rather skip the 1st one if its not that important. Thanks for any help and excellent video and list.

  • I started Suikoden 2 on a ROM, and couldn't get into it. You have inspired me to give it another shot.

  • watched your favorites and most hated games.

if i agree or not is irrelevant.

the only thing im curious is whats your opinion on Xenogears.

and kudos for playing Legend of the Dragoon to the end.

i broke the disk apart in the last level where i needed to play post office errand boy.

works wonders breaking bad game disks for rage discharge.

  • People always are talking about chrono trigger so I tried and I cant find myself to like it. Can someone tell me why they love it so much

  • nice list.

    my top five is

    #5 Xenogears

    #4 Final Fantasy VII

    #3 Final Fantasy VI

    #2 Chrono Cross

    #1 Chrono Trigger

    good old Squaresoft

  • Hey since you are a fan of these Tales games...wondering if you have played Tales of Symphonia (GC) and if you think it's any good. Gracias

  • that's your own opinions, i disagree with your picks. final fantasy series all the way

  • Have you ever played Shining Force 2 or Might and magic 3 for sega genesis? I really enjoyed SF2. Prob one of my fav of all time.

  • Normally I wouldn't trust anyone who didn't put Chrono Trigger at the top, but I respect your reviews of these games a lot just because you sound like you know what you're talking about (at least you put it ahead of all the FFs). I definitely wanna try out your top 2 now.

  • What's your opinion on the Persona games?

  • In my personal opinion the best RPG of all time is "Chrono Trigger"

    great list men

  • great list, loved suikoden 1,2,3,and 5. I think i would have replaced final fantasy 12 with kingdom hearts 1, or 2. But overall great choices.

  • @kingofgames321654987 Yeah, you're not alone - most people seem to hate FF12. Ahh well...not everyone will agree. Just the same, thanks for watching!

  • @Mugenmush I agree with the choice of FFXII people seem to hate it because it strays so far from the other final fantasy games (Excluding Dirge of Cerberus)

  • I'm loving the diversity in all of the choices.

  • I think Xenogears and Xenosaga deserved to be mentioned at the very least but otherwise great list

  • @Dexter158 If you want to know what I think about Xenosaga, I suggest you watch my video: "10 RPGs That I Hate (And You Probably Love) Pt. 6".

    ...if you dare! Hahaha

    Sorry :(

  • Great list, coulda used Xenogears, mature story, incredible game, shoulda been an honorable mention atleast. :)

  • Suikoden2 deserves to be in top 10 for RPGs. Although, debateable if first since there are a lot of epic rpgs and personal opinions usually come into play when picking the best. It's not as well known as some other rpgs like FF7 but the Suikoden series is awesome (especially the second) and is worth checking out if you are a genuine rpger.

  • Very nice list! I mean, I can't say I agree with you, but we can't all think the same thing, right? :) Anyway, here are my Top 10: 10. Golden Sun 9. Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story 8. Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride 7. Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King 6. Rogue Galaxy 5. Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door 4. Tales of the Abyss 3. Persona 4 2. Tales of Symphonia 1. Skies of Arcadia Legends
  • your not a final fantasy fan then! lol I am my list is all Final Fantasy check my lists

  • sorry if I annoy i'm just a really big fan of the last 2 games in that series...

  • ....a great and varied sound track (i even play it in my car) a somewhat touching story (even more so for it's sequel) and one of the most disturbing final bosses ever-even by horror/survival standards(if you can figure out the somewhat abstract imagery). This may sound biased, but, I'm a big fan of the game, and can see it not being in the top 10 on a avid rpg gamer's list (especially since it predecessor "mother 1" is poor dragon warrior rip off) but not even mentioned?! c'mon!

  • i would have liked to have liked to seen Earthbound/mother 2 (for the SNES f*** that gba crap)on the honorable mention list- it is one of 3 turn based rpg's that i like and have put the effort into finishing (the other being, SMrpg and mother 3) Graphically not a whole lot to write home about, and being the worm rather than the apple of nintendo's eye, it boasts a unique fighting system (advantage depending on which way you are facing) goofy jokes, automatic wins once you get strong enough....

  • i respect your opinion but where is kotor?

  • @ralphy329 As I've told a number of people with that same question: I love KotOR and, in retrospect, I should have put it in the honorable mention list. The reason I didn't is simply because I played KotOR on the PC and honestly didn't even remember that it was on consoles...so I didn't think to put it on here. I know that's a lame reason, but it's the truth. Nevertheless, rest assured that I'm a big fan of KotOR!

  • lol your right, i didn't see this coming ... its in my top 10, but not number 1 XD That spot will forever belong to FFVII. What Suikoden II did for you, FFVII did for me

  • Chocobo's Dungeon 2 XD wtf? XD lol nice vid :D but no persona 3 :( Anyways nice~~ :D

  • Oh stop. Go play the fucking game and stop making videos. You're pathetic.

  • @Haneline What? Where the hell did that come from? What's your problem?

  • Yes! Suikoden II! I am in agreement with everything you said about it. It's so good. But so pricey. It's now that I am asking myself WHY I shelled out 150 bucks for FF7 when obviously... I should have invested in S2.

I commend you for your choice! Suikoden FTW~

  • @JigZawThe5th Do you seriously think I'm going to just let you spam this shit all over my videos? I hope you had fun copy and pasting that into 4 videos cause I certainly had fun hitting the remove button 4 times. Do it again and I'll block you entirely.

  • @Mugenmush How about i get on my other accounts and keep flaging you for rude behavior?

  • @JigZawThe5th Rude behavior? Excuse me? YOU are the one that came onto MY videos and posted spam that has literally nothing to do with my videos whatsoever. They have nothing to do with the content of the videos, they're not responses to anyone else's comments, and were posted solely to provide advertisement for you. Flagging me? Are you insane? Have fun convincing ANYONE that you're in the right here. You're looking for GMs and Moderators and you think THIS is putting you in a good light?

  • @JigZawThe5th You should also be aware that I am quite familiar with the proper process of reporting users for spamming/harassment and have no problem doing so with you. Between the spam and this comment I have more than enough evidence. I haven't done so yet, but this is your one and only warning. If you spam or threaten me again, I will report you.

  • How old are you, Mugenmush?

Your list is fine, but you forgot the 16-bit era (or didn't cared about).

    Lunar, the Silver Star

    Secret of Mana

    Shining in the Darkness

    etc.

    But, that's your list. Congrats!

  • @cacciari78 What are you talking about? Did you actually watch all 4 parts in this series? This is only part 4.

    In Part 2:

Final Fantasy 6 is ranked #7 on the list

Secret of Mana is ranked #6 on the list

    In Part 3:

Chrono Trigger is ranked #3 on the list

Tales of Phantasia is ranked #2 on the list

I'm 23, I've been playing video games since I was about 4, starting with the Commodore 64.

  • @Mugenmush Honestly I was probably confused. I am 32 and started playing Atari but yes you're right -- You mentioned those.

But still I miss Final Fantasy 3.... I definitely need a SNES console.

    Take care!

  • Hey, Chocobo Magical Dungeon is okay. You should've done a small bit on it since you mentioned it. ^ -^

  • I love the Final Fantasy games, 6 and 7 are great but my favorite in the series is FF8

  • in my opinion devil may cry series is one of the best :P

  • @undeadrs One of the best what? DMC isn't an RPG series... What are you talking about?

  • @Mugenmush dmc may not be rpg where you choose looks and such but its still classed rpg, even tho its more action.

  • @undeadrs DMC is not an RPG. It's an action game. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 has classes - Recon, Medic, etc. Is it an RPG? No. It's an FPS. In Gradius, you get to choose one of several different firing modes before you start. Is that an RPG? No. I don't think you're really going to find anyone who's going to agree that DMC is an RPG. There are plenty of games that have elements that are influenced by RPGs but are not actually RPGs themselves.

  • @Mugenmush well dmc 3 special edition is classed rpg on many sites.

  • @undeadrs Name one. You say "many" but I doubt you'll be able to find even one.

  • @Mugenmush just google it and you should find many people that agrees that dmc is an rpg

  • @undeadrs No, that's not how this works. You said that it's classified as an RPG "on many sites." So now I'm asking you to name a single mainstream gaming website that does so. It's your job to back up your claim, not mine. I can save you some work though - it isn't called an RPG on Gamespot, IGN, Game Trailers, Giantbomb, 1UP, or Gamespy... so don't bother with those. I'll warn you however, if your next response is simply "Well, lots of people call it an RPG," I'm going to block you.

  • @Mugenmush why the hell would you block cuz i see dmc like a rpg??

  • @undeadrs Because if you're going to come on here and make a clearly ridiculous claim like "DMC is an RPG" then you need to either back it up with evidence (which you have *still* yet to do) or admit that you're mistaken and move on. If you can't do either of those things then stop commenting. If you can't manage that then I will block you. Simple enough.

  • @Mugenmush you sure got bad attitude because some1 got diffrent opinion about something, devilmaycry.forumotion is a site that you can call "evidence"...

  • @undeadrs It's not an issue of opinion. It'd be like if I made a list of the 10 best basketball players of all time and you came on here and said "I think Brett Favre is the best."

Devilmaycry.forumotion? Seriously? That's a fanfiction website (and a bad one at that) that has nothing to do with any of the actual games in the series. The "RPG" that they refer to is one of their own creation that, again, doesn't come from any of the actual games.

  • WTF not even fable in the top 10?

  • WTF ????? WHERE THE F IS PERSONA(3 or 4) ?????? u didn't even put it in ur list ??? ur shiting me right ? I was pretty sure that persona wasgonna be the one cuz u didn't put in in ur list !!!!!

  • @shady965 Eh...never been a huge fan of Tensei games. If I was going to put one on this list it'd probably be either Persona 2: Eternal Punishment or Digital Devil Saga. Tensei games have a tendency to be overly complicated and unnecessarily difficult (usually just in a cheap way like giving normal enemies way too much health). As such, there's never been one that I've enjoyed as much as any of the games on this list (and I own / have played most of them). They're good, just not masterpieces.

  • @Mugenmush looks like u never played P3 or P4 and one thing is for sure, ur missing ALOT !!!!! my friend :)

  • @shady965 I've played both of them... P2, DDS, and Nocturne are all better in my opinion.

  • Dark cloud 1 is such a great game and so under rated!

  • shadow hearts 3 if look into the story it has no plot...

  • I know the OP will hate me for this but I had a buddy sell me his copy of Suikoden 2 for 15 dollars pristine condition. I love this game easily my favorite rpg of all time because not only was there so much to do but so many people to get and just awesome fun. Also I do agree Suikoden IV did almost kill the series how do you go from the second best game in the series to the worst. Last the reason this game did so poorly is because it came out around FFVII and it just ran all of Sony at the time

  • Most people I know don't even know the series at all but except for IV all Suikoden games are great

  • I'm soo glad this was your number one, it's an amazing game :D. I just spent far too much of my time watching video walkthroughs of it cause I haven't got my copy with me and I miss playing it so much lol. I personally prefer Suikoden 1, but the story on this on is def far more epic. My only gripe with 2 is that I find it's a bit too big sometimes, and you can end up getting bogged down if you want to do everything to perfection lol :). Great game overall though and I love playing it :D

  • Suikoden II, seriously has to be my favourite game of all time. Yes, I'm Australian, I put a 'u' in favourite. I'd put IX instead of VII, VII is overated.

  • @MetalheadYuri Me too IX is my favorite of the FF series I put so much time into that game got all the summons, almost all the epic weapons except excalibur 2 because I took to long to beat game. I loved the cast and the artwork was more original then VII and VIII and the characters definitely beat VII which is my least favorite FF game.

  • i never played xenogears and i didn ear u mention it at all

  • ok and how about Radiata stories ?

  • you seemed more... eager to discuss the games you hate.

  • Because it's more fun to bash than it is to fawn...

    Am I a terrible person? :(

  • no.

  • How could you not have Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen or Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together as honourable mentions? Personally I found them better than FFT.

Though I have to say I generally agree with your list (except FF12. I absolutely could not stand that game).

  • I'm not a huge Ogre Battle fan, but I did like Tactics Ogre quite a bit. I guess that one should have gotten an honorable mention, it kinda slipped my mind. I've already got FFT and Disgaea 2 in there though, and I prefer both of them over Tactics Ogre.

  • Fair enough. I'm not a very big fan of Square Enix if you can tell... I thought the Ogre Battle stories were awesome (especially Person of Lordly Caliber on the N64), and by them buying out Quest, I don't think I'll ever get to see the continuation of the story. (There's nine parts, only 3 ever came out plus one gaiden story).

But sadly, that's how life works.

  • i hope they put suikoden 2 on us psn store soon, theyve got 1 on there so we can but hope

  • ...it isn't chocobo dungeon?

    *sigh*

  • I know right? :P

  • Shadow Hearts: Covenant is the best RPG that I ever played!

  • SW: KotOR? Not even as an honorable-mention-thingy-mabobber?

    ;(

  • I know, I'm sorry. It slipped my mind because I originally played it on PC. If I could redo this I would give it an honorable mention.

  • Don't like religious stuff and thats why you didn't liked it that much, but at least the Story is way worth it, plus everyone is different :D, thats what makes great this types of lists isn't it?, really hoping to play that Suikoden II as i said before, if it has a good Story then im definitively beting that game (Because im a Storyline whore), nice channel men!

  • Translated into the game, the funny thing is that i played this game for the first time 1 month ago and the game took time to get me interested but after 40 hours i started to like it, not as much as Final Fantasy VII but the last 20 hours are just insane (One of the best moments in my life), i mean... there isn't any game that made me to think so much, and actually made me to question religion, a very impressive game, an awesome story but yeah thats just my thoughts i'm not saying that you...

  • Damn, what a nice Top 10 dude, very well said plus those are pretty good games plus is always good for me that the number 1 of the list is a game i've never played, i'll try to play it because you said good things for it, actually... my favorite game of all time wasn't even on the Honorable Mentions section... Xenogears, dude if you havent played that trust me... i just can describe it as: The best story i've ever seen in my life, if you've played it what do you think about it?, nice list!

  • A lot of people have mentioned Xenogears. While I don't hate the game, I definitely don't like it as much as many such as yourself do. The story is okay but it's pretty convoluted. It's not as bad as Xenosaga mind you, but they get a bit too self indulgent at times. The battle system is fun. The production value is good...until that second disc. At the end of the game everything just falls apart, including the story. Overall the game is okay, but not a classic for me.

  • I think i get your point and i respect that, men i love this list but i still can't wonder how anyone wouldn't put it at least as an Honorable Mention, the only way that would make me feel that Xenogears wasn't a great game was if i didn't like religious kind of stuff (Sorry for my bad English right there), i mean.... if you don't like things related to religion then this game is not giving you that much (I think), the Story main focus is that alongside with creation, and is outstandly well...

  • Suikoden 1, 2, 3, and 5 are all good games.

4 was a giant mess. They must have needed money for crack when they released that piece of shit. Honestly I felt like Konami had just taken 40 bucks out of my wallet and gave me aids. Playing that game for more than 3 hours causes people to become suicidal. Who ever made it should be castrated or put in an Insane asylum. It's a Herpes patch on the series. I have played Tiger Hand helds with more appeal than that shit sucking crap! No better than ET

  • i actually did since you have good taste saw suikoden coming. the thing is i still would have it as a toss up between xenogears, suikoden 1-2, and chrono trigger

    hard choices.

but suikoden is a superior game and series to final fantasy in my opinion

    good choice and great job

  • Lunar 2: Eternal Blue (Complete) is one of my favorite RPGs, along with the first and second Grandia games, and Final Fantasy 9.

FF8's story was shit, FF7 was good but massively overrated.

I think I'll check out a rom of Suikoden II ;)

  • suikoden II awesome , i agree

I beat this game more that 15 times

  • it sould be FF7 or SUIKODEN or CHRONO CROSS

NOT fuckin Idont know Chocobo ...2

  • OMFG !!!! CHOCOBO WHAT ???

  • I heard Suikoden II is really good. I'll probably get it soon :).

Also shouldn't Secret of Mana II (aka Seiken Densetsu III) be in your Honorable Mentions list?

  • OMG , u didnt play SUIKODEN II !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • loved the whole list! Game RPGs are such an art form, and when you get a really really good one ans play it, you notice.

I have not played ALL of the list, but my favourite ever is still FFTactics, because of story and characters.

  • I haven't seen Suikoden 2 for anything less than $100, and that's the only reason I haven't played it... but dude, can it really be that much better than Suikoden 3? Aside from Final Fantasy VI, I've never had more fun playing a console RPG (PC RPG definately, Baldur's Gate single-handedly blows console RPGs out of the water, it's the single greatest video game RPG ever, but I guess that's another story)

  • Yes, it's MUCH better than 3. 3 is pretty good, but, in all honesty, 2 just blows it out of the water. Trust me, you need to play it. If you can't afford buying it, at least check out a rom. You won't be disappointed.

  • How can you not mention TALES OF SYMPHONIA.

1.wicked story, at first it seems pretty gay/cliche, but when you complete the game you'll realise its amazing

    2. Combine cool magic moves between characters for stronger/different magic moves, there's hundreds of these (combinations), and you can learn new magic moves from sdequests (lik genis' meteor attack)

    3. real time battle system- just feesl better than turn-based

  • 4. lots and lots of sidequests! I COMPLETED DRAGON QUEST VIII and that was supposed to have lots of sidequests too but i didn't find any!!(except for the monster arena) TOS had loads more than dqviii(maybe its because i had a walkthrough for TOS, yiu see i completed dqviii in 80 hourr, and tos in sixty something, but i have 200 hours on tos coz of all the sidequest)

    I've only played 3 rpg's

    1. Tales of Symphonia (completed) amazing game

    2. Dragon quest viii (completed) really good game

  • 3. final fantasy x (did not complete, played about a 3rd of the game and thought it was crap) crap game

Just wanted to ask, don't you agree TOS is better than dqviii and has more sidequests? i can't believe it's not on your list! it my third favourite game after zelda oot and ww.

  • i love the song playing while hes talking about suikoden 2 it just clicks and and is so epic

  • Thanks! :D

That's one of my own compositions. It's called "Suspect". If you want, I can send you an mp3 of it.

  • alright if its not to much trouble

  • chocobo dungueon 2!!!! WTF! nice one... some series were fortoten or maybe you never playd them: mega ten series dragon quest series valkyrie profile 1\2 phantasy star series breath of fire series or legend of dragoon but stiil there are many great games in there about Suikoden 2 i have only playd n:4 so i can opinate about that game.
  • The first and to date ONLY RPG i've ever played is Eternal Sonata for the ps3...

And i must say that it would make my top 1 list, mostly because of the music and not the hour long cutscenes!

  • suikoden 2 is the best rpg game

    its so cool!

  • is suikoden 2's story in comic book fashion

  • does anybody know that vagrant story is vaguly related to ff tactics

  • @curiositygun93 Bot vaguely. It is set in the same world as FF Tactics. In fact, inspite of lacking the title, Vagrant Story is a Final Fantasy game.

  • Eh...it is set in the same universe, but to call it an actual Final Fantasy is a bit of a stretch. The tone, gameplay, storyline, and graphical style are so vastly different from any FF before or since that it's hard to really group them together.

I understand what you're saying, but it's still a stretch.

  • still the way that fm3 lets u c the story, in 2 different was great at the time.

well waht really set them appart for me was how nice the tactic aspect of FM4. but when talking about. FFT I am still a fan of tactic ogre and think that game was so awesome. espacily the story.

god. u made some hate post about? saga lol dont wanna wathc it then. but the whole series have always had hard reaching out to ppl-_-

  • Have you played Suikoden 1? It's very similar to 2, so I'm sure you'd like it. Also, I highly recommend Xenogears.

  • Yes, Suikoden 1 is good, though the story isn't nearly as good as in Suikoden 2. Have you tried Suikoden 5? It's excellent.

Xenogears gets a solid "meh". The combat system is pretty fun but the story is convoluted as hell. It's not a terrible game, but it's not a classic either.

  • I think this was a really good list actually. Most of the games other people are listing are games that have good qualitys but these have what those games have and more. Glad you didn't put earthbound on. My friend loves this game but I don't see how. It's really random and weird.

  • Yeah, I've never been entirely convinced by Earthbound. It's okay but it isn't great. In my experience, it seems more likely that people say they like Earthbound simply because they want to say they like Earthbound.

  • Breath of fire 1-4 nice classic touch of rpg.

The front missionm serie is awesome and to me atleast rivals that of FFT

THen I have to say alteast some DRagon quest game should be in there ntohing more classic then that,. I enjoyed playing 8 alot. even if it felt somewhat slow to go back to play random encounter again,

oo and how do u adress games like Shenmue thats an rpg to me atleast, obviously not in the classic veiw.

  • I've never been a huge fan of Breath of Fire. They're well designed games, but I never really got into them. The same goes for Dragon Quest. DQ8 is decent though.

Front Mission is okay, but the only one that I really liked a lot was the original on SNES. FM3 is okay but is WAY too long. That game has like 3 or 4 crecendos and then just decides to keep on going. None of them can compare to FFT, either in the story or gameplay departments. Just my opinion.

  • great list. and deffently suikoden 2 is a worthy winner I suspected this game to come when it havent been mentioned espacily when u said that suikoden 5 revived after the fail of 4

btw I own the europen game; worht most money and I bhought it new for 30 dollars back in the day-_-

Due I have to say u missed some games. that should be honorable. but I guess u cant have played every rpg eather,.

games like from the saga serie. My personal favorite ps game is saga frontier 2 wic Irecomend

  • Hahaha, hope you didn't watch my latest video. It focuses on Saga Frontier 2...but not in a way you'd probably like >:(

  • ok im gona say some games that u missed. legend of zelda ocarina of time, legend of zelda a link to the past, legend of zelda twilight princess, oblivion, morrowind, fable, fable 2,mystic quest. why were half the games in ur list final fantasy games ?. Really there are other games out there.......

  • 1. The Zelda series is action-adventure, they're not RPGs.

    2. Oblivion is a good RPG, and is on consoles but isn't generally considered a "console RPG"

    3. See 2

    4. Meh

    5. See 4

    6. Are you fucking serious?! Mystic Quest is TERRIBLE. That game is a joke.

    7. Half my list? Really? 3 out of 10? Where do you people come from exactly?

  • Most People dont realize that there are other rpg games that dont begin with final fantasy. Shocking.

Oblivion is on pc. elderscrolls began there.

  • Tehre's one problem with your chocies: its all based on your own personal preference and not a bigger concensus. This list is nowhere near accurate...your forgetting olders timeless classics like earthbound, Dragon Warrior IV...and for the record, the greatest all time rpg is in fact Chrono Trigger. Thats already been decided upon by most rpg enthusiasts for these reasons: 1. it has not been surpassed based on its own merits. 2. All rpger's love it and rank it high up there, 3. Nothing Better.

  • Wow. Congratulations. This is probably the dumbest comment I have ever received.

You win. These videos do, in fact, express my *opinion*. Considering that's precisesly what they were supposed to do, I guess I did my job. Who's else's opinion did you expect me to express buddy?

  • "Accurate"? "ACCURATE"? What is WRONG with you? Reviewing, by it's very fucking nature, is subjective! Which means that no matter who says it, it all comes down to opinions. Whether it's mine, or somebody elses, it's ALL just opinions you fucktard.

  • This isn't math. This isn't the law. These aren't facts. There is no exact science. There is no absolute truth. One person can love something and another can hate it utterly and BOTH can be justified. How? Because it's ALL JUST OPINIONS. If you don't agree with my opinions, fine, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

  • legend of zelda oot all the way baby!!!

no game on this list or on this planet still comes close to it.

    :)

  • Zelda games belong to the action-adventure genre, not RPGs.

They're fine games, but none of them are RPGs. That's why none of them are on this list.

  • If you don't have Panzer Dragoon Saga in your top 10 RPG list you must have never played it.

  • Or I didn't think it was as good as any of the games in the list...

    ...which is true.

  • your list was 101% correct :D im so glad you didnt put any grind fest fail try hard mmo's and every game you listed is a classic, I allmost soiled my pants when you said wild arms because I love that game, and from when you said it i knew this review was the real deal... chocobo dungeon 2 is epic.. but suikoden 2 best RPG ive ever played, ive tryed buying it from a store ex video shop rental but they refused to sell it to me for 130 dollars :( but i would be willing to pay 150 for it!

  • no kingdom hearts or oblivion.

  • No Dragon Warrior?!

  • I cant believe ff12 made the 10 ten list it sucked! ff7 was in to me overated but i guess I can see some people really liking it.

One game which i couldnt believe didnt even make honorable mention was Lunar SSSC or EB. Great storyline and caracters, nice cutscenes, fun games. Much better then that boring Vagrant Story and Grandia 2.

  • suikoden 2 is awesome

has a lot of replay value because you could have a different party every time

  • where the fuck is kingdom_hearts

  • that is a good game.but in the rpg sense its not very good you cant cuztomize your skills choose your path, nothing

  • No offense, but I prefer FF7,and I thought SUIKODEN 2 was kind of boring.Plus it alway's pissed me off that the main character never grew like Ryu in breath of fire 3! Now I'd probably take that over suikoden 2,but that's just my opinion...

  • Yeah, I agree. I can't understand why so many people like Suikoden II. It was so boring. I must've missed something.

  • jaja the same happens to me. i just dont get it. its just a regular rpg game. no more than that

  • Yeah FFVII should have been #1. Also, where is Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic? That's the best Star Wars RPG ever.

  • As I've told a number of people previously: KOTOR is an excellent game, and if I could do this over again I would put it in the honorable mention section, but the truth is that I played that on PC and honestly didn't even think about it being on consoles.

KOTOR is awesome, but even if I had included it in these videos it would only be in honorable mentions and not the main list simply because I consider Mass Effect to be a superior game, and Mass Effect is #10 on this list.

  • So many people? That game is probably the most obscure game on this list. I have seen several people with Skies of Arcadia and Tales of Phantasia on their top ten RPG lists, and up until this video, I never saw anyone list Suikoden II (I never even heard of it until Mugenmush listed it).

But still, I guess I can understand people not liking to grind a hundred or so characters; I personally have a typical limit with 7 or 8 characters to grind, FFVII and IV being my peak for differing reasons

  • not to sound anticlimactic but I did see that coming sry dude Ive seen like 10000 shows with the same idea

  • I have no Playstation

  • DOOD THAT WAS FREAKING FUNNY!!!!

  • So true. Agree on the best console rpg there. Suikoden II got a twisted story and tragic ending which is so heart-waving. Next up, Persona 3 and Persona 4 please.

  • I have to agree with most of your list. And I also agree with paying the huge price to own Suikoden II. It's by far worth the $100+ you'll pay for a complete copy on Ebay. Anyway, good list.

  • you could have just burned the disk instead of going to another state to get it, if you already know how to download the rom for emulator youd know how to burn, DUH

  • You're missing the point. It's not about simply having the game on disc. I absolutely love Suikoden 2. It's because of this that I wanted to have my very own official copy of the game. And that's why I was willing to go to such lengths to acquire one.

It's like the difference between having a poster of the Mona Lisa and having the genuine Mona Lisa. Sure they both look the same, but a replica simply doesn't have the same emotional impact as the real thing.

  • why didn't u add any shin megami tensei games

  • Because some people don't like playing games that have you getting raped by every single enemy you run into. It's kinda the reason why I stay away from games like Megaman, Castlevania, Ninja Gaiden, and Devil May Cry among others (I would probably lose my sanity if I played Battletoads). Hard doesn't always equal fun for every individual you know. In the end, it's all about preference.

  • I played the first Disgaea remake for the psp and I liked it a lot but for srpgs I prefer shining force

  • The beautiful part about Suikoden 2 is that it made me realize how convoluted and overrated most modern RPG's are (especially by Square as of late) and how EPIC a non-Square RPG could be. Suikoden 2 FTW!

    P.S - FF10 = EPIC FAIL

  • no i didnt see that one coming! but what about Oblvion?

  • Oblivion and the Elder Scrolls series are great games, but I primarily associate those with the PC as that's the platform they started on and is what the majority of the player base uses.

One of games in the Elder Scrolls series will be in my list of Top 10 PC RPGs.

  • You sound very convicing on how good this game is now i want a copy is ebay the only place to get a copy now

  • yaa i played suikoden 2 and i like it a lot.. it feels good to finally see it in someones top 10.....i stilll think ff7 is the best rpg of all time .. i dont understand how you can think ff7's story is just.. good.. its completly awesome!! loll anyway still made 4th :P

  • I thought FFVII's story was just good. But everything else helped push the game over the top for me as well as nostalgia and being able to relate in some ways to Cloud (even though I prefer other video game characters like Sonic and Zidane over him, I relate to Cloud better). I guess alongside all of it's pluses, the game takes it further by being a very personal game to me; should I ever play a game that surpasses it, I will be very surprised and blown away, RPG or otherwise.

  • omg what you did to get suikoden 2 XD... I like your style, it sounds like something i would do to get a game i really wanted as well =D...

  • and yes suikoden II is sweet! very very very rare which juices the price. i agree with it being number 1. i like xenogears lol but its all opinion ^_^

  • lmfao... drum roll and then bam chocoobo's dungeon! i choked on my apple juice. great video(s) all reviews were consistant

  • Any Top 10 RPG list that doesn't include Xenogears is garbage and should not be taken seriously. 2 stars. For effort.

  • Oh! I get it! You disagree with my opinion, so it means the videos are bad.

I'm sorry, did I accidentally give you the impression that this was supposed to be titled "10 RPGs That Are Only Good So Long As Chris Likes Them Too"? Okay then, here's a list for you:

    Xenogears has:

    1. A shitty, convoluted story

    2. Ridiculous amounts of pretentious pseudophilosophy

    3. Inconsistent and frequently shoddy production values

    4. Excruciatingly slow plot development

    5. Boring, repetitive gameplay
