It seems a bit odd that aliens would come to earth, bury tripod war machines in the ground 100's if not 1000's of years before modern man settled there only to retrieve the tripods to harvest the recourses and terraform earth into their own world only after man had settled and consumed much of what the earth had to offer already. They came to Earth to harvest the human population, they probably had to arrive "now" ( C21) because our numbers were large enough but our technology was also getting to dangerously advanced levels. I do not know if it was intended to be so, but this movie is one of the best horror movies I have seen. It doesn't show serial killers with laughable deaths. It doesn't show ghosts haunting places with silly visual effects. This one shows the true horror of death and invasion. THIS is the perfect Horror Movie.
