@Markt666 Well, there are some things (port, whisky, etc.) that take most of their character from the aging process. Literally, the wooden barrel imparts the flavor into the basically neutral distillate. In the case of a port, vintage champagne, or a scotch whisky, you would NOT want to drink the product when it's new. It would be terrible. But give that liquid 5, 10, or 20 years, and you will totally enjoy it.
@texlad04 Terrible how? You get drunk and fall down... Its a drug ffs. To say you want the taste of it is a psychological error in your head, you want the buzz. and you think its getting better from how expensive the product are.. true story
@Markt666 Let me respectfully disagree. You are describing alcohol dependency, but that doesn't mean that the products aren't flavorful. While it may seem incredible to you, research has shown that fine wines, for example, contain small particles imparting genuine flavor. Even people who state that they dislike whisky (and avoid it) can be given samples of fine bottles that they really like. I have proved this many times.
@kagemurai Are you really saying that Richard P. is not very good? He is probably the finest whisky blender on the planet. He is the creator of notable products like the incredible Balvenie Tun 1401, Sheep Dip "Old Hebridean", etc., in addition to the W&M range.
@texlad04 well, I´m not saying he is not very good. Just saying that he should probably calm a little bit down. To me he seems to be too agressive to advertise something like whisky. Just my personal opinion. I didn´t say anything about his whisky creations and I can´t for I never tried one of his.
Old Liquors is worlds largest collection of rare and historic liquors. We have over 5.000 bottles of exclusive cognac, armagnac, whisky, port and many others! See our channel for our collection.
I would like to ask your expert opinion on bottle color.
Will a darker or black colored glass bottle better protect the fine crafted spirits inside from any possible ultra violet light / other light causing degradation to the spirits. Air in a bottle... oxidation greatly effects spirits of any quality. Can light pollution negatively effect high, delicate, elegant spirits inside of a bottle?
You might not agree, but I actually like the W&M 22yo more than this 30yo - the 30 is incredibly smooth and pleasant, yes, but I think the 22 has more "character". I'm a single malt drinker, but as far blends go W&M is my favorite (except the Special, which is meh, but I never liked cheap blends): the 13yo is okay, the 19yo is good, and the 22yo is great - but the 30yo falls somewhere between the 19 and 22 on my scale (still very good, but not quite great). Haven't tasted the 40yo, though.
@CloserEnd I have to add that I've tasted the 30 only once and from a bottle that had apparently been opened a while earlier, so perhaps some of its strength had been lost, who knows. I guess I should try it again, but the price discourages me - I'll rather just buy another bottle of the 22.
Still, I wish you'd make one more blend between the 22 and 30, perhaps somewhere in the 25-27yo range, which I suspect could be my personal "pinnacle" of W&M (to both my tastebuds and my wallet, that is).
I've bought a crystal spirit decanter for my whisky. Though, I heard that the whisky's flavour might be adversely affected . Are decanters a NO for whisky?
My dad had a canadian friend who came over during the war as he was a pilot and he seen Scotland and decided never to leave (deed now at 74). I met him when I was late 17 and he always drank Whyte & Mackay! I bought a bottle when I was 18 and loved it and its true, nothing else compares! They finally got stock of the thirteen here at Tesco few months ago and loving it ever since!
I got a bottle of 30 year old now thanks to the guys :) so its gonna be a very merry christmas :) best present ever!
I wish this guy wasn't so in love with himself but congrats on the award anyway, Get the E150 out though, admit the mmm mmm 1:30 thing was priceless. the dalmore looks more like maple syrup then whisky.
OK I almost spit out my dram when he got to 1:30...especially during the "second taste" hahahaha. I think I'm going to have to taste my scotch like that from now on, sound effects included.
I do love the 30 yo but I think you did a fantastic job on the 40 yo, which I like the most. Right now im looking for the 58 yo Dalmore, Im wodering if it can beat the 40 yo W&M.
Anyway, keep up the woderful word and I hope I'll have a chance to drink the 64 yo some day. --- Tyler

@transgalaxy1 Oh you're kidding me. Im from India and i dont see how you cant find decent whiskey for Rs.600-1000+. Even the lowest end whiskey is 200 for a bottle. If you want to do ridiculous things with your whiskey, you're just stupid.

@masterblenderrichard I sent this vid to my mother and law, :) truly you love what you do, keep up the good work, but get some of that E150 out of my Dalmore, I beg you, I tire of hearing these critics cry foul about it!!
