  • SO DEEP

  • it says it was a gift from mr and mrs calvin tomkins.... the museum just hasnt regifted it yet

  • If you want to diss it without any specific point or analysis, you are only showing your own lack of knowledge on the history of art. Try reading up on it to see why it was created. There are good reasons and you may be pleasantly enlightened to the real workings of modern culture and its significance to the way things are.

  • @Odyssey2001Io I'm sorry for being a filthy simpleton who would rather spend my time becoming a productive member of society.

  • If you want to understand why this exists, try watching the DVD "Painters Painting" There are valid reasons for this work to be accepted. It is not always meant to be visually pleasing.

  • They made it to challenge previous assumptions about art which were stifling, stuffy and even stupider to most intelligent people than this seems to be to many of you. If you believe that art should only be pretty pictures of politically correct scenes, all void of deeper human thought, argument, and provocation, then you are in agreement with the likes of certain notorious, murderous dictators who I'll not mention by name.

  • this must be a giant plug, not a frame...

  • you know modern art reminds of the story about the king that likes fashion and got hustled by 2 crooks who made him an invisible robe and told him that if you dont see it u r stupid and only the little kid said the king is naked

same with modern arts, you dont see the artistic value then u r unintelligent and not sophisticated

  • @DaNorthernLight you- you don't see it? HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE ITS GENIUS?

  • You don't get it, clearly. I feel sorry for you. This is a great piece of art.

  • At least he's straight-forward, and didn't give it some stupid name like "The Agony of a Trapezoid". I don't consider it art, but if someone's willing to pay for that, then you go Alexander Liberman.

  • I think there is beauty in the simplicity of it, but I'd better stop before I start getting called a talentless motherfucking pretentious faggot.

  • @Huddiethegreat indeed you are a talentless motherfucking pretentious faggot, and a nigger too

  • @Westonci You actually got the last part right

  • How can this not be fine art? It's cleaely brimming with talent! Just look at the perfection of each circle and note that they are the exact same! Wake up all of you people, you are witnessing with you very eyes extreme artistic talent!

  • im in art class this semester and i just think that people who study art read too much into it. Especially that garbage modern art. Just plain stupid. Even more stupid are the people who buy this shit.

  • Even a splatter of paint becomes great stuff when compared to this.......such a cool display of lack of talent

  • There's a thing that i don't understand, why if i take a blank picture and i do a scratch in the middle of it it's not art? I guess they are all recomendded!

  • what is modern art?

outrageous, pointless pieces (paintings, installations, drawings...anything really) that no one in their right mind would create without the influence of today's art "culture"

......only crazy people would make stuff like this on their own

....you get sane people making modern "art" b/c it's the only thing that's accepted within the art "world"

....and wtf is the different between modern and postmodern? other than the time period it was made....eg 1978 vs 1992...lol

  • modern art is so fucking stupid, i hate it so much. poop in a cup is not art. 2 dots on a wall is not art. a urinal on a pedestal is not art. 4 basketballs floating in a tank of water is not art, its TRASH. seriously an elephant can paint just as good as jackson pollok can, and it can do it without being on drugs or being really drunk. if we as human beings call this shit "art" than we seriously have gone down hill from what we used to be.

  • its really stupid how i could take a picture of a fly then make is 60 ft and make 60 million of it.

  • Wowwwwwwwwww so inspiring and breathtaking..... wait it's just two fucking stupid dots!!! The only reason artists like this exist is because of government subsidies. The demand curve for art isn't downward sloping, it's completely ridiculous. FREEDOM FOR THE WIN! SEARCH RON PAUL, PETER SCHIFF, TOM WOODS FOR MORE LIBERTARIAN INSIGHTS.

  • This reminds me of The Emperors New Clothes.

  • This is a bold statement on society and how we seem to hold priority over education rather then concentrating on the bold arrogance of organized religion and didactically on the origin of our species

    Cheers,

    -Charles Stevens PHD

  • Aaaahhhhh!!!!!!! It's art!!!!

  • The "artists" simply throw together a bunch of simplistic garbage, then take out a thesaurus and go on writing metaphors about their piece of duck tape glued to a pop can so that "if you don't like it, you don't get it and should be more open minded".

  • OMG that was the most brilliant statement EVER!!!

  • A) it isn't hard to paint a perfect circle if you use template.

    B) the world isn't simple it is complex.

C)Taking a piss in a jar and throwing a cross in it is enough to get you in some museums.

D)Museum's Modern "art" is joke the real art is pop culture, movies, computer games, hell there are even a 10000 pages of comic books which would be better to hang in a museum then that.

    F) is the grade i would have gotten in my 8th grade art class if i turned that in as my work.

  • do you no how hard it is to paint a perfect circle let alone two!!

  • Finally somebody is talking some sense.

  • it doesn't matter that you can make it yourself and that it's simple.. you just don't understand

  • you suck

  • I love it, It shows how simple the world is.

  • If you are a renowned artist in any sense (that meaning you have done a piece requiring some degree of talent), I think you could take a crap on a canvas and make money for it.

  • @poderosocosme look up chris ofili...he does something similar to your suggestion...and he has a piece in MOMA lol

  • Yeah. I can make one of those any day of the week.

  • @rayfangrui Go ahead then. Do.

  • @ZachariasClub Alex, is that you?

  • @rayfangrui I'm not Alex Liberman, if that's what you're asking...

  • you didn't caught the essence of it! and I'm not being sarcastic.

  • you don't know history of modern art, e that's it...

  • I don't think I know what you mean.

  • @danylele2 I don't think i want to know the history modern art because it is all CRAP!

  • hmmm...
