does this record separate audio channels into the daw for each input of the mixer? Or is it just the one audio channel for each input that gets recorded? I looking for something that can record a drumkit into logic with individual tracks for each microphone. eg one track for snare, one track for bassdrum and one track for overheads.
@TheHughyg no it doesnt do that but the R16 does if youre looking at A&H mixers. I have the zed14... its cool for live, but can only record 2 tracks at a time with USB. I say its a nice live board, but nothing fancy for recording. Theres other shit which will split the channels like you want... look for anything with firewire. I am saving up for the 424 myself :)

Hey can I as you a question: How is the usb latency? Does the computer react instantly, like if it was through a jack cable? I wanted to buy it but I also wanted to make sure about the latency first!
I'm seriously considering buying this. It really has no other competition other than the Mackie 1402-VLZ3. But due to this consoles robust features, its pricing only 50 dollars more than the 1402 and the fact that Allen and Heaths ROCK its not a hard call. Very limited on the inputs though. Only for really small gigs and personal audio stuff.
I want to buy the 420, but, I would only use it for recording and thats bad because when you record everything is already mixed and you cant really mix it anymore in the software.
Sure you can: Just use an audio interface with a lot of 1/4" inputs and use the groups/busses and auxes from the ZED. That's at least 8 separate track outs right there.
