Well at my country if there's a open seat with no people around they mostly take that and not sit next to you even when the seat are taken and you need to sit next to someone , we don't we just stand it's like our country is afraid of one another , i don't think this is a big deal that if people sit next to you. I like to sit in certain areas in a movie theater because I can enjoy the movie better at certain angles. So, I sit in these areas even if someone is already around me.
I totally see this guys point, people like that make situations awkward. But still, sometimes it might be kind of the person to give you company. It depends on what mood you're in if you ask me.
When this happens to me, I usually redirect the conversation to a place where we have some common ground. I've made 4-5 good friends this way, some bad friends, and sometimes the conversation doesn't go anywhere. It's worth it for those 4-5 in my mind.

Same thing happens in parking lots. I like to park far from the store, because there's usually no one else parked there and it's easier to pull out. When I go in, the closest parking spot that had a car in it is 10 spots away. When I get back from doing the groceries, there's 5 cars parked all around me.
Haha it's like when a class enters a new classroom. You don't want to be the first one in because you might end up on the 'wrong side'. If you directly go and sit in the front near the teacher everyone else might fill up the back of the classroom. If you go and sit in the back everyone else might fill up the gap infront. And then BAM your seat that you are suppoused to sit on 4ever is half the classroom away from the rest of the class, hence making you, if seen from the outside, a social outcast
I had this happen to me today... me and my family parked into a pizza hut... no other cars where there but one pizza hut vehicle, on the other side of the whole parking lot, then this guy in a big ass truck parks right next to us.

as far as the movie theater goes i guess I'm pretty guilty of always sitting next to someone, but its not for any social interaction. Anytime i go to the theater i always try to take the best seats, the ones in the middle. If those are taken i think "crap, the best seats are taken. Might as well sit one row higher/lower. it would be weird if i sat right next to them." In my logic, I'm in a different row and therefore, not next to them. :-/

Exactly like this on the bus. I was in the back of the bus and there was only me and two others. I had the whole row of seats (about 5 seats) to myself and some old lady sat right next to me... I think oldp eople do this sort of stuff on purpose because they know they can.

@truthrage Yet you sat right in the middle in prime seats in this example. Sitting much further down results in neck strain and I just prefer sitting in the middle of the theater rather than to either side. So sorry... I would've sat directly below you in that example too :)

with the same logic you in the 1st grade you shouldn't sit next to random students and talk to them.....you can sit 4 chairs up or 4 chairs down,you don't need social interaction(or whatever it is called)...with your logic,you become a little anti-social,you wouldn't knew your friends if you had never talked to them...right?

Same thing happens in parking lots. I like to park far from the store, because there's usually no one else parked there and it's easier to pull out. When I go in, the closest parking spot that had a car in it is 10 spots away. When I get back from doing the groceries, there's 5 cars parked all around me.

Haha it's like when a class enters a new classroom. You don't want to be the first one in because you might end up on the 'wrong side'. If you directly go and sit in the front near the teacher everyone else might fill up the back of the classroom. If you go and sit in the back everyone else might fill up the gap infront. And then BAM your seat that you are suppoused to sit on 4ever is half the classroom away from the rest of the class, hence making you, if seen from the outside, a social outcast

I had this happen to me today... me and my family parked into a pizza hut... no other cars where there but one pizza hut vehicle, on the other side of the whole parking lot, then this guy in a big ass truck parks right next to us.

lol, I have been there, and its usually the most uncharming creepy-looking person you have ever meet, and its never the person you want to have sit next to you (aka "the cute guy" *cough*) and then he tries to tell you his life story like "You think I really care?" and you are too polite to tell him to shut the hell up. The same thoughts can be applied to parking. I usually park in a lot that has no cars, and when I come out there are 5 cars surrounding mine in a still empty parking lot. I think people just feel safe with other people around them :P

I find the same kind of thing happens with parking spaces. Massive car park, empty spaces everywhere so you park away from everyone and one or two idiots will decide they want the spots right next to your car.

as far as the movie theater goes i guess I'm pretty guilty of always sitting next to someone, but its not for any social interaction. Anytime i go to the theater i always try to take the best seats, the ones in the middle. If those are taken i think "crap, the best seats are taken. Might as well sit one row higher/lower. it would be weird if i sat right next to them." In my logic, I'm in a different row and therefore, not next to them. :-/

Here the people are so antisocial and stuff that you will always sit alone in the bus.
It's like if the "doubleseats" are taken by one person so that the seat next to it is free people will rather stand up alone than sit down next to you. :)

Exactly like this on the bus. I was in the back of the bus and there was only me and two others. I had the whole row of seats (about 5 seats) to myself and some old lady sat right next to me... I think oldp eople do this sort of stuff on purpose because they know they can.

@truthrage Yet you sat right in the middle in prime seats in this example. Sitting much further down results in neck strain and I just prefer sitting in the middle of the theater rather than to either side. So sorry... I would've sat directly below you in that example too :)
