  • 1:43, is that a scottish flag? Wtf!

  • @DeadlyPoisonedCandy

I saw no Scottish flag but I think I might of seen a Welsh flag.

Incase you where unaware but the Irish,Scottish,Welsh,Cornish,Manx are all Celtic ethnic people.

Scots/Irish are Celtic Gaelic ethnic people, indiginous to the British Isles, Insular Celtic.

Welsh/Cornish/Manx/Bretons (France) are Brythonic Celtic people, Indo-Europeans of the west.

All of which are extremely close going back past the ice age to even today, and celebrate there culture and ethnicity.

  • I really regret finding your first video because now im HOOKED.

  • they celebrate st pats with more spirit than they do here in Chicago where there's actually a large population of Irish. Heh

  • Haha, Wait a second we don't have cheerleaders and floating guiness everywhere in Ireland. xD Plus we don't have diddle idle music on the radio everyday. In fact we hardly have it at all. I'm so jealous I wished I lived in Japan.

  • I must have missed this video or something. I didn't know that St. Patrick's Day was celebrated there. Just wow.

  • in N.Ireland we don't even celebrate it as much as the Japanese. id love to be there.

  • I absolutely did not expect St. Patrick's celebrations in Japan

  • surprise surprise, I didn't expect that either, but hey its Japan, anything happens there...

  • What is St. Patrick anyway? I only know it's something Irish. So why would americans, or even more Japanese, celebrate it?

  • Because of the strong Irish immigrant population all over the world.

  • @RaveSnoreThrong Thats so stereotypical.

  • You do realise 12% (1 in 8) of the entire American population has Irish ancestry?

I was surprised by St. Patrick's celebrations in Japan however!

  • OK. That made no sense to me what so ever. However when I am in Japan nothing ever makes any sense. Any one fancy a Cream Collon?

  • I can't think of one reason why Japan needs to celebrate St. Patricks. Really.

  • Cromwell? Thats the name of my town. lol

  • Cromwell was an English general who mass murdered around 50,000 Irish people........I dont see any reason to "lol"

  • Somehow. an Asian Bag Pie Band didn't seem so unnatural as it seems all you really have to do is don a beret and a kilt. and bam!

  • But that bagpipe brigade is Scottish.....and the welsh flag? More Celtic day than St. Patricks

  • i saw a welsh flag. on st pats day.

  • that dog... was wearing..

     ...........Pants.

  • at 0:44 that kid could ride that dog lol

  • yup,

    tadakichi-san.

    its mihama chiyo's dog.

  • wow so many people in your apartment!

  • Okay.

  • Are there a lot of irish in aussie? I dont really know anything about Australia so I wouldnt know the relation of st. patrics day and aussie

  • There are heaps, but this is coming form a guy that lived in a place where the average time a person stayed was a few months to about a year. We had heaps of Irish backpackers stay with us during the time we rented our place. Great people.

  • Yes I am.

  • Oh okay.

  • Didn't you say Cooney was originally Koenig and it was a German name?

  • Are you Irish?

  • Whys there a punk rock dude wearing a scottish attire at an irish themed parade ._.

    We aint Scots ppl T_T

  • Irish wolfhounds, guinness...thats hilarious. But why do the japanese celebrate this holiday? Its for the Irish, only Ireland and America should really be celebrating this holiday >.>

  • I really enjoyed this vid! I'm from Ireland will be in Japan for St. Patricks Day. Looking forward to it!!!!

  • punk rock bag pipe player lmfaoo XD

  • Sean ORiada there in the back, correct?

  • ohh man those cheerleaders look the same and i mean the SAME from my high school cheerleaders..... check em out just google GULF HIGH SCHOOL.... u'll see

  • that was the BEST thing eveh

  • Japanese guys playing bagpipes is one of the funniest things iv seen in a wile

  • The funniest one was the one with the mohawk.

  • haha st. patricks day cheerleaders.

  • yeah it looks more fun than our irish ones.

especially the cheerleaderslol. i love how they included all the irish dogs though

  • I couldn't agree more, like it originated from Ireland and every other country seems to put on a bigger celebration than us, lol.

  • I have personally never seen an Irish St. Patrick's day parade (let alone ever been to Ireland), but that is what I have read. In my home of Chicago we used to go all out, and St. Louis also has a pretty strong celebration too. In Seattle they have sections designating the county your ancestors came from, and start singing.

  • St. Patrick's Day in Japan? That is so strange! Especially the asian bagpipers.

  • I was born on Saint Patrick's day. lol

  • You know they don't celebrate St.Patricks day in Ireland like we do? they just go to church.

Yet they celebrate it in Japan, and half of the people in th parade i bet weren't even irish!

  • "Yet they celebrate it in Japan, and half of the people in th parade i bet weren't even irish" You think?

  • lmao that perade is better than the ones we have here in ireland XD

  • imagine eddinburgh in such a day o.o

  • I love how a lot of japanese people are as interested in foreign cultures as we are of theirs. Japan has a rep for being racist, but it's just more protective of its culture than we are. See how accepting they are of a tradition as long as it doesn't impede their own?

  • @cheezeofages i agree a lot of people say they're racist cuz some stores have signs that say no foreigners but the truth is they probably dont speak english and find it dificult to communicate with foreigners. so really as long as you speak the language they will let you in

  • man they use any holiday just to have an excuse to have a holiday period Lolol

  • holy crap Japanese cheerleaders are hot xD

  • wait....where is Kenji?

  • Why would they celebrate St.Pat's in Japan? Also, look at the sheer volume of gaijins in the parade! Wow.

  • wtf welsh flag at 1:44?! and they're called uilleann pipes... bag pipes are scottish.

  • And bag pipes are exactly what the guy was playing.

  • oh sorry, think i meant 'they should be uilleann pipes... bag pipes are scottish' :P

  • No worries. I don't understand how America can mix up Irish and Scottish traditions, so I don't think anyone will be able to make head nore tail of these Japanese mistakes.

  • wierd describes this event best. I wonder how many Irish people are in Japan.

  • I vote 4

  • 00:36...guy with a green mohawk playing the bagpipes? that's not something you see every saint patrick's day!

  • yeah, too bad i can't see him everyday!! !! he was pretty cool!! ^.-

    xxx

  • omg u guys were looking at the peeps like there were two fat women having sex...well i think u know what i mean...........but not to sound racist but those where the first black dudes i've seen...awesome about time....but if only they were younger -_-

  • Um... St. Patrick's Day cheerleaders?

Asian guy with green mohawk playing bagpipes?

    Guiness balloons and mascots?

I think I need to go to Tokyo next St. Patrick's Day.

Also, I think there are few things better than Peeps in the microwave, but some quite spectacular ones are bars of soap and glitter. Or both together. :3

    -Robin

  • love the guinesses! haha

  • haha they take st patricks day more seriously than christmas. dam i gotta go visit japan. ey kev wheres the youth hostel?

  • And somehow the Japanese bagpipers seem to bring a different sound to the instrument. A good one, but different.

    Looks neat. :D

  • Damn, I missed this one & definitely the sakura blossom picnic too. Can someone send me back to Tokyo?=b

  • I'll come with!!

  • i'll be a stow-away in your bag if you pack plenty of food and stuff for me to nibble on.

  • :L there the irish version the pipes and remember the name but it begins c :S

  • How did that many people fit in your apartment?

  • hold on.. What kind of dog was that little kid petting.. cuz.. that was HUGE>. haha

  • Irish wolfhound.

  • I think there mising the drunkin boxer.

  • who said asians couldn't play bagpipes??!

i do like the sound of bagpipes, i just dont play them :( id love to though, just really occupied with alotta things :P

  • Wait a second, bagpipes are scottish. I think they have their cultures mixed D:

  • i loved the guy with the green mohawk playing the bagpipes

    don't see that everyday XD

  • Omg, Japanese Irish? Never heard of it....

  • i have. a friend of a friend has red hair and asian eyes, cos shes jap irish. that sounds pretty damn cool to me!

  • This looks more like it has more to do with America than Ireland.

  • i've never seen this parade but i know the reason japanese celebrate it. because it's a festival!! there're many many festivals & gods! lol

  • Not even we have parades on St. Patricks day...

  • LOL!

St, Patricks day in a country miles away from ireland

  • id never thought id ever see a japanese guy with a green mowhawk play bagpipes either....or wear a cowboy hat for that matter

  • I really dont understand why everybody celebrates st patricks day, theres prob like 5 irish japanese in japan lol

  • wow. Japan seems way more lively on St.Pats day the we do. I mean they have parades and such and the most we do (New Mexicans) is pinch someone for not wearing green XD

  • wow....any people who are irish or of irish background, including myself, should be insulted! i'm pretty sure that japanese people aren't irish last time i checked...*sweatdrop* and yet they have more spirit then us!

  • Why do they celebrate St. Patrick's Day?

  • God the Guinness costume is priceless. XD

  • i don't think they're Irish. i know i am and i'm pretty sure that my family doesn't celebrate like they do and we're actually Irish.

  • I am feeling old. When I lived there 25 years ago, they never heard of Patricks' Day... What a commercialistic opportunity! Whee! I guess it's the beer companies :D

  • ur an idiot why is it anymore weird japenese having st pats than americans having it?

  • Because the amount of people of Irish decent in America is ten-plus times that of that of Tokyo.

  • irish decent aint irish , new rule if u ahvnt been to ireland u dont get to say ur irish

  • You took the words right out of my mouth, I live in Northern Ireland and you can call it what ever you guys want as I dont care any more. I just want to get out of this dump, there is absolutely nothing to do here, I get nothing but abuse and everyone is back stabber or a user. Also people here are ignorant as hell. So sick of it here, thank god Im going back to Japan in July!!!

  • Thats probably how my greatgrand parents felt when they emigrated. And you know what, I woulnt be here if they hadnt.

  • Are you Japanese?

  • No.

  • @SDRockman i feel the same way lad

  • who says?

  • xD Wow, haven't checked Youtube in a bit. Interesting to see the people there. I like the walking beer can. xD; And the guy with the Mohawk. That was quite a culture clash. :] Glad you had a good one!

  • And i thought puertorricans celebrating St. Patricks day was weird...

So yeah a lot of ... eh.. flat cheerleaders lol

i thought cheerleaders were supposed to be hot.

    i want my money back

  • what can i say except, geez that´s odd!!

btw, i thought that you were doing the f.y.i videos now, i left you a coment, well several actually, asking if you were ok ´cause of the earthquake

  • Japanese cheerleaders...?

    I'm confused. XD

Do they also have cheerleaders that cheer for sports? ?_?

Sorry, I just never really saw any Japanese cheerleaders before. XD

  • To be honest.... I have no why they were there. But all the old men with cameras didnt seem to mind.

  • I guess thats why Historians never took to the mircowaved peep simulation method. Such a shame.

  • Would you like to hold me lucky charms? Or see them anyway? nJoe

  • A Japanese man in a kilt with a green mowhawk playing the bagpipes in Tokyo on St. Patrick's day...

Yes, I can die happy now.

That's better than the vending machines!!! ;)

  • Nice vid. Slán

  • I just can't get my head around this. I've watched it like four times and I still wont sink in. It's a a very odd dream. Dude thanks for sharing this with us. its so cool!

  • HAHA! Nothing is more funny than a bunch of Japanese men marching down the street in glorified skirts! Great video.

  • Not bad...

  • Looks like fun, some year I will have to attend the parade. Loved the peeps in the denshi renji.

  • That was... awesome. the guy with the green mohawk got me laughing very hard. the walking beercan, Guiness float, awesome vid Cooney!

  • hehe cool... didn't expect that.

There is an irish scene of music in Japan though...

Check out the cherry cokes, they are like the pogues of japan ;)

  • hehe cool... didn't expect that.

There is an irish scene of music in Japan though...

Check out the cherry cokes, they are like the pogues of japan ;)

  • I am in awe. Seriously. I had no idea you could get ahold of a Guiness float(?) in Japan. And peeps!

  • and the irish population there is like what .02%? lul

  • Green Suspenders for the win :) Its surprising how much more celebrated it is in Japan than Canada (where i reside). I suppose it has a much more exotic appeal in Japan.

  • look like more fun then the st.patricks day parade on long island

  • Wow.. more Patrick's stuff over there than there is over here!

  • =D so much fun!

  • cool parade!

  • Is psilocybin just floating through the air constantly in Nihon or is it me?

  • hey i think thats Tomo (the guy with green mohawk) he spends his day usually around yoyogi park busking(he wears a hat sometimes but you still cant miss him), he worked in paris for a while as a chef, kev say hi to him if you see him around.

  • Totally excellent says Irish Mike who is still very very hung over

  • That was very interesting, I never thought that they would have St. Patrick's day out there XD, and those poor, poor peeps.

  • Wow that's interesting. It looks just like the parades where I am except there are less Japaneese people. They have floats I belive too... No... thats for something else... But they've nbever had a floating beer thing. I've seen those around. I guess everyone DOES celebrate st patties. That's cool. Thanks for the upload too.

Lol. It's like some otaku is just like "gotta get my camera under there..." when she was up there. So bad.

  • peeps in microwave = best time ever

  • Love the cheerleaders

  • There was about 10 japanese male cameramen with zoom lenses following them the whole parade. I dont think they were there dor the irish spirit.

  • hehehe perverts ...

  • Question that you may have answereed in a diff video: what % of the Japanese population speak english? I want to visit but i know absolutely NO japanese

cool to see st. paddys day in japan

  • Youll be fine in the big cities. I came here knowing none and had a good ol time, even when having huge communication gaps.

  • Ahaha! That was so priceless!

    :P You rock.

  • Where they after your lucky charms cooney?

  • And they almost got them!

  • loved the walking beer can.. Did you take him home with you?

  • No, drank him right there in the street.

Oh, and nice to have seen in your earlier vid that Kenji is doing just fine.

    Thx for the vid, man.

  • I love you videos and I love japan. Keep making these. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us :)

  • Hehe this is real sweet. Though I don't much understand why there are so many tartan clad, bagpipe playing people in that parade :s as thats a Scottish thing. I guess people get confused hehe! Love your videos :)
