I have had a Schuberth C2 (flip up) and R1. I have not had the S1, I only notice the differences.
Despite, noise level for me is the lowest that I know. If you use a medium helmet brand, really you love it although bike's aerodynamic or design (or windscreens) it's important too.
-design: R1 is more 'race', S1 Pro is sport-touring
-Ventilation: more airflow inside helmet to S1 Pro
-Outshell: diferent matrix (better the S1 Pro)
-extras (pinlock...)
R1 is a good helmet and cheap than S1 Pro. If you plain to use only at racetrack or weekend days, R1 is good to you, but if you plain use it frequently or in a long hauls or trips (all seasons) better S1 Pro.
Just got my own in matte black! I love it!

How is the noise level? If you used to own the old S1, have you found the S1 Pro to be quieter?

Thank you so much for your reply.
How do you feel the S1 Pro compares with your R1? Is one quieter than the other?

R1 was a little more noisy to me (not much)
Really diferences between this two helmets are:
-design: R1 is more 'race', S1 Pro is sport-touring
-Ventilation: more airflow inside helmet to S1 Pro
-Outshell: diferent matrix (better the S1 Pro)
-extras (pinlock...)
R1 is a good helmet and cheap than S1 Pro. If you plain to use only at racetrack or weekend days, R1 is good to you, but if you plain use it frequently or in a long hauls or trips (all seasons) better S1 Pro.

medium? Schumacher used the schubert for his carieer

Yes I know it. Shumi helmet is so strong that can support the weight of a tank over it without crahs.

Si, mejor Arai, que estos como te den un capón parten... ja, ja... :D
Total, Schuberth sólo lleva 70 años haciendo cascos.
