Last month I met Glen and Marketa in Hollywood with my Dad durring a promotional Q&A. They proformed the song for us and Glen actually used the guitar from the movie. It was great and there such nice people and real. Lots of Love to Glen and Markera!

If it weren't for the movie, nobody would be watching this. It's pretty lame. Most of the music in the movie was weak; As always, the writing/script is the key.

I think the script, direction, and the casting is "amazing". I loved the movie, and I agree with you that all of the parts of movie together has its magic, but lets say the movie didn't exist, would you actually pay money to see a guy giving guitar lesson to a girl with a marginal singing voice?

If you watch some of the interviews with Glen and Marketa, they never forget to mention that the success of the movie would not have been possible without the writing/directing of John Carney.

Well, that's what I meant, saying that all attributes together makes the magic the movie has :). The music of Glen and Marketa, I think prooved itself, Even the movie helped it a lot and they helped the movie as well... because with some other actors and singers could have been sentimantal disaster :).

No, because that track specifically was a demo. It was well before they even got into the studio, what we heard was the studio version of the song (including Glen Hansard's harmonization, I believe). It still doesn't sit well with me.
