I just bought my mum a laptop and i went to JB today, they told me to buy a wireless router modem-dlink. My mum currently has a desktop pc, so i figured u just pull the cord out from the back of pc, and plug it into modem router.. :/ i guess not. Sounds pretty complex.. do i have to make a new ip n stuff :S :S

Do you need a telephone jacket to a wireless Modem router?, im not so good on computers but anyway :p

actually there is a big difference bewtween G and N!

G can only go upto 54Mbps

N can go up to 300Mbps

N support's MIMO (Multiple in Multiple Out) (Signal can go in every direction)

N support's Dual band (2.4GHz And 5GHz Frequency Band)

Some N Routers have Gigabit Ethernet 10Mbps,100Mbps,1000Mbps) Etc

So N is better,faster!

@lilwarski0121 I switch to wireless N, for the same reason! N is fast and better, also goes a couple of miles as well. My wireless network can go for 1.5 miles, I have tested this and love it.. so I decided to sell my wireless signal for $20 a month, I tell everyone if you don't pay by this and this time. I will shut your internet off, simple and easy.

@TheAngryAmericanwon why? you must be in some serious internet traffic and be on more than 54mbps connection for it to make a difference, im gonna guess its the former, in which case me buying one doesnt make me a hypocrite cause there are over 20 connections around me at 3 out of 4 bars connectivity

What would you recommend: a Dlink or a Belkin? I'm trying to go wireless so I can play on my PS3. And I'm not sure if I should get a modem/router in one or a modem and router seperately. My PC is rather old(approx 5-6 yrs old) and I'm not tech savvy so I'm not 100% sure it has a wireless network built in. I use ADSL on a very old ASUS modem with only an internet cable port and an USB port.
