Halving that budget would be a step in the right direction.

The federal budget in 2001 was $1.85 trillion, roughly half of Obama's proposed budget. That includes off-budget appropriations.

Heck, even the Democratic Party in 1932 stood for reducing the budget by 25%. Check out the 1932 platform. Too bad that's not what happened, though, hehe.
