The whole reason for democracy is that the majority should rule. A proposition is the most reliable way for the majority to rule. To detest the concept of a proposition is to hate the very nature of a democracy in the first place. This video is essentially saying that the rule of the majority should be overruled by the minority. If you want an oligarchy, then you should have just asked for it.

You see, a republic is a form of government in which people vote for a person to represent them in making governmental decisions, but the majority is the force that decides who leads. In a way, you could think of a republic as merely an "indirect democracy."

I'm am quite familiar with the legal situation surrounding the SSM Movement.

Unfortunately for your argument, there is a Constitution that offers protections to everyone, majority and minority alike.
As someone who has used "democracy" several times in his comment, you should be appalled that in 1865 DC voted to not allow black citizens to vote (overturned by 15th Amend., 1870), and NJ voted to not allow women to vote in 1916 (overturned by 19th Ammend., 1920).
Here, the constitutional protection already exists for not denying marriage rights: 14th Ammend.

You see, but even in making adjustments to the Constitution, that was decided by the majority to make amendments to the Constitution. No matter how you look at it, our system of government was designed to give power to the many, and not the few.

You are right, in the instances I cited with respect to voting rights, a later action by a higher authority (federal changes to the US constitution) overturned state statutes.
However, in the case of same-sex marriage (SSM), the Constitution already provides for no restriction of rights to minority groups, due to the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment.
States which had similar clauses in their constitutions have allowed SSM by judiciaries: Mass., CA (originally), and Iowa.

I'm am quite familiar with the legal situation surrounding the SSM Movement.
This video is attempting to say that there should be certain regulations as to what can become a proposition. My point is that is shouldn't matter how much we disagree with something, everyone should have a right cast a vote on an issue. If Gay marriage had passed in CA, I really wouldn't have cared. As long as the voice of the majority prevails, I am satisfied with my government.

Well clearly you don't understand the government that you claim satisfaction with. The government has certain lines that it cannot cross in restricting what people can do.
Most people think we should ban flag burning, but too bad, 1st Am. protected.
Most people think that intelligent design should be taught along with or in place of evolution, but too bad, that would be making a religious law.
A prop. can be suggested, and it can be passed, but if it is against the Const., it gets slammed down.

As long as the majority rules, our government works. The moment the few or one person leads or country, our government has failed. The whole "we the people" idea didn't mean "we the few" by any estimation.

Since your responses still lack any understanding that the founding document of the United States provides a set of instances where the government cannot tread no matter how popular treading there might be, and a high court to enforce that lack of treading no matter how unpopular, I shall waste no more time discussing this with you.
A final point though ... it's not majority rules anyway, 4 presidential elections where the one with the most votes didn't win & no elections for senators until 1913

This is funny! I laughed. Great job portraying the ridiculousness of Prop 8! Why are people so damn obsessed with what others do with their lives? You would think that people would understand the desire of someone to fall in love and share their life with that special person! I am Catholic, and although they preach against it, I think Love regardless of gender is a damn Great and magnificent thing! I am married and straight by the way! LOL.. not that it should matter!

I faved at first, then I got to the end and unfaved. It's making fun of values. and it's Extreme, I'm newly married, and I believe that when I made vows to my husband I meant them, If you've seen Up, then the first scenes with the husband and wife are the ultimate goal for marriage. I think there should be requirements that are more strict than what they are now. Ban, no, because there are legitimate reasons to be divorced, but a marriage is a union under God, and should be upheld.

Yup. Too bad for it's supporters gay marriage will likely resume in California in a matter of weeks. Perry v. Schwarzenegger will begin on January 11 and last for 2-3 weeks. The judge in charge has already indicated to be favoring our side. It all depends on how broad his ruling is, though he was/is willing to grant an injunction of Prop. 8 as a result of the trial being delayed.
