I have greatly enjoyed your playing while researching traditional hymns. The sound quality of your recordings is very good, especially on headphones. This recording has to be my favorite of the ones you have posted so far. Thank you.
when they closed the music department at Aberystwyth uni. there was a demonstration and they sang this in the old college and it was incredible. Real passion in the words and music. Thanks for posting it.
There was a medley I heard once that combined both Aberystwyth and Martyn versions of this song on recorder. I'd love to hear that again, whatever the instrument. Anyone have a link to an mp3 of that arrangement?
@samjohnrokk I do like aberystwyth, however I do not think the lyrics aren't all that special. Try O Sacred Head Sore Wounded, Jesus Christ is Risen Today, Christ Our Lord Is Risen Today alleluia. This melody is also used for Watchman tell us of the night.
do you realize as of today May 27 2008, THIS is the only page that has this song! And to think that this song was just about as well known to Christians in the US in the past 200 years as much as Amazing Grace was... but you know what, i hope people will go research this song and realize that this was an absolute gem by Charles Wesley...
I know right. I thought for sure I could find a youtube video of this song but there is not much. There's about 10 million videos of the Contemporary Christian song Jesus Lover of My soul by Hillsong (which I also like BTW) but hardly none of this. Sad!
Hi Lance: I love the way you play the Welsh Hymns :). Thank you sir.

Wonderful rendering. I know it as a Sacred Harp song and was looking for a version in which the melody is crystal clear. It surely is here.
Your channel is a labor of love. Glad to have found it.
