@krux02 Lands of Lore 2 (LOL:GOD hahahaha) was probably the best fantasy game I've ever played, for exactly that reason... "This is how Fantasy should be, mysterious, not well known."
I had this game. I liked the video's and atmosphere but I was always lost. Back then I hardly mastered the English language so I only played by trial-and-error which made it very difficult.
this game has this non-mainstream fantasy. Everything is mysterious, and you dont see those common fantasy creatures like Orcs Elves Dragons etc. This is how Fantasy should be, mysterious, not well known.
Trailer is actually quite misleading, all scenes are from fmv. In-game graphics looks very pixelated even with the 3d patch, and has serious compatibility issues. Played this game about 10 years ago...
I was looking the internet for playing it on Vista but dind't find anytithing usefull. Only that to install it on XP a few people recommended a sort off Dosbox. Well, try that. Hope it works.
Best game ever, they don't make 'em like this anymore. I loved the first, became obsessed with the second, and flat out hated the third installment. Damn EA
I still have never seen two cutscenes from this trailer: The one with the City of the ancients' slime monster bubbling over a rock at 0:33 and the one where there's a dracoid monster behind the door of the tower of wizards as it opens at 0:51
Truly a magnificent game! It had a deep beautiful sense of mythos and was so creative in the lands, music and story. The gaming industry honestly does not make games this deep, creative, or beautiful nowadays! Glad to see people still remember and admire Guardians of Destiny.
It works with windows xp. the video lags from time to time, but except that it works fine (if you use the windows version, but it comes with a DOS and a windows version)
This game is great, but I never finished it. Was too hard... I only played LoL III till the end, although I like LoL II more, it has a better athmosphere, harder quests and is just more mystic
I did play this game and was amazed by how it looked back then, but I totally did not get what it actually wanted you to do... it was soooo weird... and you randomly transformed into a creature... but maybe I was just too young back then (12 or something like that)...
does anyone know if it works with XP ? Maybe I'll try to find it somewhere and try it again. lol
Far inferior to its predecessor. Always shapechanging into just the creature you could NOT use at that time, having to wait for an eternity to change back. You always had to watch your step not to fall off some cliff or into the water. Most of the dungeons were vast with most rooms containing nothing but damp air. Remember the cat-like hulines which were essentially actors with fur-hats? Couldn't even act (e.g. the magic sword huline). Westwood's descent to mediocrity.
Uh, did you even play the game? You can control your curse once you're like 10% into the game, hahaha. OH NO, you might fall! Please cry more. The dungeons were incredible, Dracoid Ruins anyone? Amazing stuff.
"Magic sword huline?" That makes no sense. I refuse to believe you played this.
Far and away Westwood's greatest game. I had no idea there were alternative evil endings, heh. Every action in the game has its consequences.
i played it many times... found all secrets i think ! an incredible atmosphere in the rulois citadel, nices musics .... never in my life of video gamer, i felt the feeling to be lost in the underground than in the Dracoid Ruins, alone... what a game !!!
The game was very long indeed... But I loved the feeling about it, the plot, and everything in general. The part where you had to go to the Dracoid Ruins was so but SO cool...! :D
One of my favorite games of all time. Had a great story and I strange detached sort of creepy feeling that I love in a game. I especially loved being in the Dracoid Ruins and how when you'd point at an inventory item there would be that male voice saying what it is. "Reaver of the Great Orc."
Anyway, excellent game. Anyone have any Lands of Lore 1 clips?
Hey, would you mind uploading the credits to this awesome game? The camaraderie you can see from the producers on tape is what inspired me to get into the game industry, and the credits also has a great song that to this day frustrates me because it didn't actually end.
Thanks for uploading this. No other game (be it pc or console) has come even remotely close to matching Guardian of Destiny's level of difficulty, the length in its 4 CD glory, the amazing soundtrack, the characters, the story, the humor even. I could go on and on. I've never seen its equal.
If I one day become a millionaire I will personally go to EA and finance the production of a new Lands of Lore game.

fantastic game.
So much richness and atmosphere. Hidden stuff everywhere and awesome cutscenes. And the music is fucking epic
To bad about the crappy engine, but the story and the characters made up for it.
