i dont see why not...the wires america using is expensive and short-life. bringing a ton of those wires = weight and room, these weight and room can equal a carrier with higher top speed or bigger operational range(normal propulsion) and more jet fighters on board. chute = light / durable(china is VERY advanced in this field, they have special materials that can endure a lot more landings than with wires.

Do you know the j-10 is base on the lavi design?
China can not get the Pratt & Whitney F100 engine
because of the arm embargo due to tiananmen square massacre.
However in 1992 Bush administration give the F100 engine blueprints to China.
But for years Chinese can not solve the problem of the overheated radiator.
That is the reason they have to import the turbofan engine from Russia.
To adapt the russian engine they have to change some original design.

歼10的升空很惊艳，还有转弯的半径已经明显比歼8小很多了，进步不是一般的大。当年第一届和第二届航展我都去看了，歼8和苏27苏30比起来差距还是很大的。但是中国的战机驾驶员技术毫无疑问已经是世界一流的了。
