I was wary at first of reading a work of fiction written from Christ's point of view, but I got curious and checked it out from the library. I'm on the 2nd chapter and I absolutely LOVE it. It's amazing to read a story told from the mind of Christ as a child. As for Anne's ideas about possible future novels--I say go for it!! I would totally love if she wrote something somewhat similar to G.P. Taylor's books or that book about early Christianity, b/c there aren't too many of those out there :)
Hello Anne, I am writing to you from Australia. I think I must be your biggest fan down under! I love all your books and have read all of them. I can relate very much to your life's journey as there are many parallels with my own. Anne, it is just wonderful how you have managed to stay so humble and open to communicating with everyday people even though you are super-famous. We love you very much here in Australia, lots of love, Alan
Backslide from atheism? How do you you backslide from something that doesnt believe in anything. Why is that sad, its not she was going to call you up and invite you over for tea to discuss your world view on spirituality.
I respect atheists but there is nothing particularly rational or intelligent about their position. Most are arbitrary and their "belief" in nothing is strictly an emotional stance. At least, that's how they've come across to me. Anne.
Hello Anne We were neighbors in the Castro and we'd bump into eachother on the street and chat. What I'm saying is religion has caused so much damage through the centuries. That's why I recommend Richard Dawkin's book. I'm a child of the sixtie's, I guess. My "anthem" has always been John Lennons beautiful song Imagine. "Imagine no religion...it's easy if you try. No hell below us, above us only sky."
I agree, there is something so reactionary in believing that we're here, thus there is a God. Its always a shame to see someone lose the independance that no belief in God has to offer. The guilt free lifestyle, where the only people we are accountable to, are the people we injure, and to our own consciences. Why should we answer to a (mythical) God that made the very natures he condemns.
"If ignorance of nature gave birth to gods, knowledge of nature is made for their destruction" - Shelley
Mrs. Rice, you are a wonderful woman. I so respect your intelligence. I love your vampires, but I also greatly admire your love for your faith. I'll read whatever you write for us.
I agree with Anne that the vampires should stay where they are. I can relate to her response although my friends can't that her life has evolved now and the vampires must rest now. I've read some of her new work and it her poetic style is still interwined with her work and thats what attracted me in the first place. Simply Wonderful Anne.
while in college at a baptist university we too studied this teaching. it is an ancient church tradition and teaching. i love the way anne handled this scene. very powerful and very moving!
I do love your vampires, but as Dwayne, i think Blood Canticle is a wonderful way to finish the history of Lestatand his friends.
I am reading your cristian books, but here in Mexico is hard to get it and there is no translation to the spanish for The Road to Cana. However, i did admire you as a gothic writer and know i do admire you as a cristian novelist.
Thank you for taking the time to speak to your fans here in youtube, we aprecciate that
Hi Anne, I glad to hear that. I enjoy reading your books in spanish too. I found Christ the Lord ( El Mesias ) Blackwood Farm and Blood Canicle on Amazon in spanish. I hope to get Road to Cana when it's available. By the way the translations are great, your voice is not lost in the translations.
Thanks so much Anne and Fr. Joe for this 2nd part of responses to fan mail. May there be many more, as well as, perhaps, "reviews" on current pop culture, religious oriented and otherwise? Two more Jesus books, an early Christianity tale, angelic books--magnificent and oh, how this is so very exciting to look forward to! And everything you do is angelic Anne, and you are our angel. Bless you and much love--Angelique's daddy
Fascinating. As much as I adore Rice's vampire mythos, I respect her decision to let them rest. I thought "Blood Canticle" was a wonderful close to the vampire song.
I'm very intrigued about the angels. As my fellow fans know, angels were major characters in "Vittorio the Vampire," and I loved the way Rice handled them in that novel.
YouTube is the perfect medium for Rice, an author who takes seriously her commitment to her readers. Please keep them coming.
Dwayne --- Thank you for the supportive email. It may turn out that a break from the life of Our Savior, during which I write the new supernatural series, will be good for my mind, a sort of cross training of the muscles of thought. Take care and thanks for posting, Anne.
please do, please. god bless
