i just find it funny that soome, more like most ppl wouldnt know real music if it slaped them in the face. and ive commented on this before lol kimock=magic
For all you who say that steve-o is boring, I totally see where you are coming from. I mean lets be honest, it is somewhat hippie music... you go to a SK show and you are bound to see too many flower children. But as a guitar player he is really nice and playful. He knows his role and always leaves room for the other players to go outside, and I think that is respectable.
If you're looking for flashy blues licks and masturbatory chops, then yeah, you're in the wrong place. Kimock has no use for pretentious showing away; his music communicates emotion and it resonates far beyond "hippie jazz." Obviously it's not for everyone, but it's pure and beautiful to many.
I agree Kimock is so boring. Acclaimed musician or not he is boring. Look at him on his studio jams episode, totally depressing........ Sorry Kimock fans, thats how I feel
Sorry to say, but Kimock is not very diverse as a player, his "horizons" are not broad at all & he lacks true heart & feel, he should at least just try classical or eastern music into his style, but thats just my problem. Sorry to say, but he should do more than just, hippie jazz.
you obviously have no idea what your talking about because two of Steve's biggest musical influences were Ali Akbar Khan and Andres Segovia who are masters in their respective styles of "eastern classical" and "classical" music and Kimock incorperates their styles in his playing all the time. He's much more diverse a player than most musicians.
Although i will admit i have heard much better blues playing from Steve. But do a little more listening to his music before you criticize his playing.
It's all relative, I suppose. I can't fault some one who's horizons aren't broad enough to appreciate something outside of the pentatonic blues box. Personally, I think this is great...
Check out Steve workin the toggle switch for that 'wah' sound!!! Cool stuff

Steve Kimock Is Overrated. THis blues playing is pretty mediocre.
HIs phrasing is very stiff, and he is playing some pretty boring lines when you compare this to the many other blues legends
This playing would sound impressive if it was someone who was playing for 5 years
He has good gear though, so at least he has tone going for him in the midst of his overratedness and mediocrity
