I have a cival war renown chattahoochie river near me where i might give this a shot someday. Should one be looking toward the bank primarily? Does the river need to be a low current river generally to leave relics behind?
@bryanfsmith Pretty much any part of the river could be worth checking out. I've found stuff in swift current as well as slow, in the middle and along the bank. The most important thing is to actually go look. Eventually you will find something of interest. Good luck!
....@deepdiver1101 ohh wow... I can't wait to hear what you have to say if you click on any of my more recent videos. It's simple really... you get a signal on the metal detector, you turn on the camera and record the recovery. If it's a neat item, you post the video, if it's a beer can, you delete it. Not many people want to see the "Oh wow, I just found another beer can" video. Although I did post one of those also to make my point. And yeah, it's gotten a whole 175 views :(
....@tkdmasterbound I had a guy take a look at it and he thought it was to a Mississippi. But I haven't really researched it that far yet. I guess I should get it figured out once and for all. Thanks for the info!
in wich state did you find this? could i find stuff like this in the brandywine river in pa.?i heard you can find swords in the baks of rivers where theres a bend.
....@1mrusso1971 It is likely that you would find some cool stuff in the Brandywine. People have lost and tossed stuff in rivers since the beginning. Now it's up to you to get out there and find it. Good luck!
.....@DEVOTED2NATURE I don't really know and haven't asked around. But it is like they say, "It's only worth what someone will pay for it". As a dug relic in great shape with a good backstory, I would think it could fetch a premium. Thanks for checking out the video!
.....@ChrisinatorS To be honest, I don't know. Most detectors have a waterproof coil because the coil does get wet in the wet grass. I don't know for sure about yours though. Be very careful if you hunt water with it, as no matter how hard you try to keep the box dry, it will get wet. If you go to a treasure hunting forum like "treasurenet" and ask that question under the "Brands" and "Garrett" forum, someone will have a better answer for you. Good luck!
@ChrisinatorS Yes the Coil is submersible but the Control Housing is not. Also, protect the Control Housing from excess fog, rain, Blowing Surf/ocean mist.
@Togamaster7 Nah, it was probably just mud or a leaf. My digging buddy would have freaked out if he saw a leech. I've only ever seen one attached on a human here. So they are around! Thanks for checking out the video.
@michelleblakley Thanks... it's easy when you are finding stuff. It's those days in between when nothing good comes up that are tough. Glad you liked the videos!
The mud really does preserve things well. I was diving with some friends and one of them found a 2 gallon salt glazed colonial era jug buried in the bottom. It cleaned up nice just cleaning the mud off it.
Cool as crap, man! You must have a really good site there---guard it and find all you can--ha! I found a big cannonball chunk in water one time---about five inch by five inch section that was about 3 inches thick---must have weighed close to 10 pounds give or take a little. I found a Confederate Ordnance fuse on land a few miles from that site--I sold them several years later
@Gatlun I found a triangular bayonet at the same site the next week in just as good as shape. Two years ago I found an entire cartridge box, leather, plate and all. If it's buried in the mud, things can be very well preserved. Thanks for checking out the video!
@Gatlun Mud and clay are very good preservers... you can find stuff in clay river beds that have been there 100 years and looked like they were dropped last week... clay being very dense and sticky, no air gets to it to corode it
Thanks man! Its great to see you recover these great relics!!!!!!!!!! I know you cant say "where" but what state do you did these great items??? Im guessing Tennessee by the scenery....Keep it up,,,JB

@bryanfsmith In some parts of the Chattahoochee it is illegal to remove artifacts, check around before you do.

I have a question: could my garret ace 250 go in the water? Not the whole machine but just the coil? Thanks.

@comissairevanloc This is in the U.S.. The style of bayonet is very similar to the bayonets used by the French in the 1880's. You have a keen eye!

@Gatlun the river preserves brass and iron relics alot, when the mud and clay covers them up it protects them good.
