  • adjusted for inflation star wars is still ahead.

  • Starwars and Avatar are both awesome

  • I saw it in 2d but now would like to see what it looks like in 3d. How do those special glasses fit over regular glasses?

  • Adjusted for inflation (1977 ticket price $2.25 vs 2010 ticket price $10.00 Avitar will need to hit approx 4 billion to match Star Wars. If you factor in merchandise Avitar should surpass Star Wars once revenue reaches approximatly half a trillion dollars...give or take a dollar.

  • OMG your number are all wrong.. go to box office mojo and you will see what i mean..

  • How do you think I would look avatar'd?

  • Star Wars beaten by this!?

Star wars had a great plot and so unpredictable to this movie, we knew they were going to survive.

Avatar is a fantastic movie but I think nowadays movies are too action packed and shit plots with phony actors.

Revenge of the Sith for e.g. Worst linereading I have ever seen, the casted that whole prequel trilogy wrong, Hayden Christensen no, Ewan Yes, Natilie Yes. Who is more important out of Darth Vader/Anakin, Obi-wan and Padme, Darth Vader of course, rant over.

  • @bl00DAvian I agree with you but remember that the do to all the inflation through out the years, the dollar values are different.

If you were to compare the value of star wars at let's say a ticket price of 8.00 when S.W came it, not it would be at about 2 or 3 dollars.

And as for Avatar of course it's at todays value but don't worry S.W is way better. Avatar still has 2 movies to go but by the second one they will screw it all up.

  • The bad guy in Avatar was funny, and as much as I'd hate to admit it, people like that exist in the real world. Ie, the kinds of people who will do anything for a buck, no matter how unethical. A few bodies here and there doesn't matter to them. We (being the good Christians that we are) slaughtered the Indians in real life, and nowadays we have economic scandals like Enron that are the modern day bad guys.

Wooden acting, lol, this is pure realism. (In CGI that is)

  • Cameron,

Haiti has 1100miles of coastline. How many barges could you bring to Haiti's shore? The barges water pumping equipment would bring shipboard fresh water into the barges & send it to shore distribution sites? You could spend millions to help the Haitains, will you? & what about your friends Gates&Buffett, they never hesitate to tell everyone how much good they are doing. How many millions will these greedies send? What are you rich siphons waiting on?I'm calling you bums out.Help Haiti!

  • Sherlock Holmes In 5th!?!?!?!

I'm Disappointed That was a great movie

  • meh. too much cgi. nothing beats watching real actors.

  • ha! take THAT haters "whine whine blaahh avatar sucks" they say - i think the numbers have CONSTANTLY proven the haters completely void of any kind of brain..to say the VERY least

  • uhhh that doesn't make it a good movie. Bush was pretty darn popular as well

  • it was a great movie

  • That's a hideous comparison! You're one of those retards WeskJago was talking about! You don't even know what you're talking about. Good day, sir!

  • yes it does. numbers dont lie. if it was a sucky movie, it wouldn't have made any money. psh...avatar comapred to bush HA! with THAT comment i dont need to say much to back my first comment up

  • Actually its a very pertinent comparison. Both are perfect examples of populism. Over generalizations in Avatar in regards to everything from racial stereotypes to an incredibly archaic story result in exactly what a big block buster is made to be - something that will appeal to the masses and give them exactly what they want. The movie was intellectually insulting to anyone with half a brain, because its all been done before. Not to mention the fact that it beat The Hurt Locker was pure bull...

  • @Balian49 - ok you got me. although i don't entirely agree...you could very well be right. but i kind of looked past the "BS" of that may be. the way i saw it in my mind was a message to the world to appreciate nature and it kinda was a 'wake up' of what we've become as human race - including all the racial and religious heat it's getting. it's a perfect example that w'eve lost our natural roots and are pretty pathetic as a human race - that's what i got out of it. no i never saw transformers 2

  • Hear, hear! I do agree with you fine sir. Avatar really is becoming this generation's Star Wars. Avatar is dishonest moralizing about the environment and indigenous cultures told by a weak, wooden story that is only saved by massive special effects. Essentially, for this generation, if you wrap crap up in enough of a shiny, electronic shell, no one will care that it's crap.

  • So as I said before, the numbers CAN lie. Did you like transformers 2? If thats the logic you go by I sure hope you did. Or of course your using that argument when it works for you, which is probably the case here...

  • Hooray!
