  • Thanks A LOT for your video! Not many useful videos around to compare amps nowadays..

TC Electronic RH450 sound AMAZING.. Have you found it versatile? would you recommend it in order to boost some freqs and growl for a fretless bass? maybe some comp..

    Thanks again! nice playing!

  • @Vinterless Thanks for the kind words! Yes, the RH450/RH750 is VERY versatile - with the versatile eq adjustable shift points, you can dial in most any sound you can think of, and then store it in one of the three memory positions. Too cool!

  • the tuner looks so snappy

  • Genz

  • Interesting...Genz -treble -Ibanez -bassy-TC somewhere inbetween...

  • Hay Donovan, Got my TC in but I'm have a bit of a Problem with the Effects Loop. Do you know anything about the effects loop section on the TC?

  • @hudsononbass Sorry - I don't use the effects loop, so I don't have much experience with it. I would suggest finding the RH450 review thread on Talkbass.com and posting your issues there. Those guys are SMART! :D

  • The sound is important, but they are SMALL. That's the deal !!!!! No more Big amps!!! I dont have a bass tech on stage with me!!!!kkkkkkk

  • good god! that red ibby really sounds sweet! considering the costs it really kicks the sh&t off the other two

  • @nicoptw Different strokes for different folks. The Ibby does sound great. But the TC has a ton of features for not much more money...

  • I'd like to see a comparison btween the Little Mark Tube and the TC Electronic RH450!

  • TC ELECTRONICS Wins!!!!!!

  • tc electronic wins hands down. the tc has a bit of that clean, transparent sparkle like the genz and also the chunky warmth of the ibanez combined.

  • I hope when you are ready to buy you'll contact me and give me a shot at earning your business! :D

  • Hmm, the signal path in RH450 is digitalized very early, so we do not know what they really do inside. Setting the tone flat does not have to mean it is non-filtered anyway. It just gives us an reference from which to manually adjust the digital filters inside, right?

  • Correct - but then again, you could say that about any amp. Every amp will have it's base EQ points set for shelving, etc...

  • Thanks to your video I'm now a proud owner of the RH450 :)

  • I liked the contrast between this video and part 1

in the first video, I was liking the TC the best, but after hearing them flat, I could hear the tonal difference much better, and liked the Ibby best.

TC sounded muddy on the lows, and I liked the colour added by the Ibby. The Genz was beautifully clean sounding amp, but does not suit my style of play

  • I find it hard to believe that you were unable to get any kind of grit or color out of the genz benz when it is the only amp with a tube pre and has a gain and volume knob solely for the purpose of adding grit.

Is it difficult to overdrive the tube or did you simply have the gain turned down?

  • You can overdrive it, but it's not as gritty as the ibby or the TC. The TC is the best for this, IMO.

  • All 3 def. put out a very useful tone/sound. However, I really like the sound coming from the T.C. I'm not gonna say that it sounds "better," but I just like how the tone of bass is evenly represented and I have a feeling it's the spectracomp on the TC.. but it just sounded more controlled while still being punchy.

In the end I'm not a bass player, but been in/around bands enough to know what a good bass sound in a mix should be like and the RH450 def. is awesome.

  • Totally forgot by the way, great playing and GREAT VID~!! Very useful and worth watching~! Cheers!

  • That was a helpful review. One thing you didn't mention which is a big concideration for many of us in deciding is the price difference whice, puts the Ibanez on top.

  • Very good point. The Promethean is a very reasonable $500, $700 as a 1x10 combo.

  • Good review mate. Pity the Mark Bass, PJB, or Ashdown Labs weren't in here as they complete the set but all in all a good review. Of those shown I have to say the Genz has the edge for me in that has a slightly more hifi quality. Personally I really like the Mark Bass sound best of all on the micro amps. Thanks

  • Nice review~ I would love to have heard a Markbass head in this mix!

  • Yeah, that would have been nice. Sadly, I don't have one, or know anyone that does. I guess I could buy one from GC, review it, then return it...

  • Your are correct again! The Promethean has a bypass button that disables the graphic EQ. So while the EQ may look like it's scooped, it's actually not.

  • After watching a few times I have a question: the EQ on the Ibanez looks scooped, is there a bypass or something that makes the clip flat? My very subjective impressions of the tones of these amps WHILE SET FLAT: Shuttle: Slap: A+ Fingerstyle: A Ibanez: Slap: A- Fingerstyle: A TC Electronic: Slap: A Fingerstyle: A+
  • You didn't say which bass you were using this time... I was trying to figure it out by the shadow on the wall and the quick glimpse we caught as you moved the plug. Looks the the Fbass VF5 again? Oops! There it is listed in the video tags. Sorry.

At any rate, what a REMARKABLE difference in tone between the 3 heads. WOW.

BTW, I LOVED the look on your face when the joke popped into your head. That, and the squelching of it, probably ended up being funnier than the joke anyway.

    Good job. 5/5

  • You are correct - it was an FBass VF5. Same pass as Pt. 1 in order to keep everything as consistent as possible.

And thanks for the kind words!
