This is not a left or right issue. We can all agree that government must be held accountable. If you get put in prison, wrongfully, by the government, then you are entitled to compensation for those wasted years of your life. PERIOD.
All of this crap we call society is just a GAME that we play until we get old and die.Ppl are sooo lost on the real questions that matter to us as a species. So go think your job is important, fill out that loan app, for your new house, and car.Make sure ur kids wear nice clothes, and are popular in school!! Humans are so FUCKING LOST!! At least humans were trying to figure out everything, and why?? You're all so deluded by Ppl that have no more power than you do when it comes time to die.WAKE UP!!
Blacks get off the SLAVE wagon already!! It's boring, and no one cares!!!! Don't complain about how things work if you're just gonna sit on your keyboard and babble useless messages. Whites, blacks, latinos, and every other race all get treated unfairly in the system!! It's all a big game to these elected BY YOU officials, and it's a game they'll always win. I can't believe ppl think any of this useless SHIT means anything. You're going to be dead in a few yrs.,so I'd be more worried about that.
Could'nt the court at the very least give him a FRACTION of the fourteen million? even a few million? hell even ONE million (though nowhere near enough or what he deserves) would be way better than nothing for helping this poor man rebuild his life. They wont give him ANYTHING?
the reason they did not want to lose is because when they are done in the public sector they will go to the private sector with a good win record and get paid more because of it.
What can we say? This country's legal system is corrupt clear to the top. My son who is Deaf may get his parental rights taken away because his Deaf 9 year old child refused to wear CIs(cochlear implants) around him so the mom got the order changed to say the child had to wear them all the time. The child talks fine and is very smart. What this is doing is keeping the child from their cultural language-ASL. He may get his parental rights removed. Fair. NO! Happening-YES
@Zestylemons03 its not about death row alone , the man lost 14 years of his life behind bars. executing is not barbaric .. corruption is the case here ... if you kill the killers they will think 100000 times b4 murdering some one.
"For 2010, the average Murder Rate of Death Penalty States was 4.6, while the average Murder Rate of States without the Death Penalty was 2.9"
So there goes THAT argument. It doesn't deter squat, though it does occasionally lead to innocent people being murdered by the state like this poor guy almost was.
@Headhunter004 no you dont get it ... these numbers are not reflecting the truth... coz u CANT compare two differernt places and culture and location on the map and say oh look... there are other factors too like education , immigrants , crime , weapons ,
those numbers can be a proof only if u apply it to the same state and compare.
in other way of saying it... the states with death penalty which recoded 4.6 woll record more without the death penality... the 4.6 will be 10
@snaforfun If im not mistaken (and im usually not) America has a higher murder percentage rate per person than Britain. This means that they arent thinking "100000 times b4 murdering some one" they are doing it more than most other developed nations, this is probably due to the bollocks gun laws in America, i thus rest my case that executions are not only "barbaric" but also completely bloody poinless in stopping violent crime. smiley face -----> =)
@Zestylemons03 wrong logic... you cant compare two different places and cultures and make a conclusion.
if you want to test it , u should apply it to UK an see if the numbers go down or not. this is the right scientific method.
there are many factors here ... living standards , culture , weapons , the police , corruption , etc
and second thing , killing the killer is the right of the victim family. u want the son of the father to see his father killer walking in the streets after release?
@snaforfun Killing the killer is the right of no man or woman. If we begin to walk down that road you get cases were the executions are carried out by emotion for the family rather than justice for society. No person should have the right to kill because no person is responsible enough to be trusted with such a power. You also say we should apply it to the UK, it is not going to happen because the Government know that the outcry by the people would be huge cos most Brits see executions as wrong.
@snaforfun i think you are taking a bad logic here. one since no one is "too civilised not to murder" it makes you hypocritical, most people support soldiers going to war from time to time but would that family who lost a son want to see their son's killer walking with medals and being honoured a hero for something that may have sent him to years in prison under different circumstances, human nature is that humans do what they think is right even if they might not think so later on.
@snaforfun humans will always have reasons to justify their action, that alone is why a deterrent can't be accomplished no matter how severe the penalty, in fact when you murder or keep people in prison for years, the message is it is ok to hurt or kill if it is for revenge. i've had people try killing me or others i knew and been hurt many times, they always got acquitted, i didn't want them suffer or lose years of their life but i think they should have been sent somewhere to be corrected.
@snaforfun so....back to the video,....who should should not be sentenced to death , if the falsly accused is killed?? the "witnesses? the prosecuters? the judge? the jury?
@snaforfun considering very few murders are not premeditated or in the crime of passion i highly doubt it. until 1961 all murders in canada was mandatory death and suddenly that stopped when they realised it had no deterrent and i doubt 99% of murderers ever thought they would kill themselves prior and i am sure many supported the death penalty themselves, in fact murdering is in human nature no one is immune all it takes is the right circumstances for you to kill especially if it is 2nd degree.
@pluto4847 By gods balls your right. Being arrested for not paying a T.V. licence is just as barbaric as injecting poison into the veins of a human being... thankyou for showing me how terrible my country is compared to your country because as we all know your the 'land of the free and home of the brave'(or some other shit).
Anyone who doesn't think those prosecutors should go to jail is fucked in the head. I mean if someone hid evidence that led to you sitting 14 years in isolation waiting for death row, how pissed would you be at those people?
However: The supreme court did their job. A conservative judge letting a man who had an afro at the time of the killing off the hook? That'd just be crazy dog.
This is infuriating and terrifying. I mean this is America! The promises of this country are freedom, justice, and equality! These people on the prosecution are disgusting, truly disgusting. And the same goes for those people on the supreme court. I've always thought of the SC as a force for good. When there's corruption in the legal world, it's there to make the RIGHT call. Really really scary shit, dude. This is wrong.
Had this guy been executed I think there would have been a good case to convict those prosecutors of either conspiracy to commit manslaughter or involuntary manslaughter.
If this doesn't piss you off, look up the ruling today in which the SCOTUS ruled 5-4 (again) to allow Arizona legislation which has allowed $100 million in tax CREDITS that primarily benefit religious schools and organizations when the state is faces a billiondollardeficit and bars any tax issues from being broughtto the court. Conservatives have no right to call themselves either fiscal conservatives or strict constitutionalists. If a tax loophole works for corporations, why not for religion?
The REALLY sad part of this story is that it probably cost the taxpayers the same amount of money in legal fees to fight this through the courts all the way to SCOTUS.
Instead of doing what was clearly right and paying the man the jury's award, they spent that same amount of money defending their FUCKED-UP position ... making certain that JUSTICE would NOT prevail.
@grizzzlyjoe I gave you thumbs up for that one, but they probably did not spend as much money doing this. Probably a million tops, but it makes it no less heinous. I think what this boils down to is that Thomas and Scalia probably realize that there are hundreds of cases like these and they don't want to allow money from the system going to compensate people they view as criminals regardless of whether they were guilty. It also discourages people from bringing this stuff to light.
I just read about this. It's outrageous. Scalia and Thomas are evil, apathetic scumbags. They had to completely ignore 95% of the facts to justify their ruling. The DAs in the case deliberately railroaded this guy when they KNEW he was innocent. Another reason why I am disgusted with this country. The supreme court should protect people. Not serve those who deliberately work against justice.
@fabricondutube We are seeing the beginning, in America, of what people in other countries have experienced for decades or centuries. Is this how things began in those countries too I wonder? A gradual increase in unbelievable and deplorable events and decisions until one day, the rug was just snatched out from under them and they were introduced to man made hell.
@AlvaroAndfriends So said the Greeks about Hades, and countless other religions, all of which people fervently devoted their lives to, for nothing. Time, energy, and opportunity wasted. If you want to make the same mistakes of those who came before you who believed the lies that are religion, be my guest. But, keep in mind, we haven't all drunk the Kool-Aid.
no cops are going to jail over a couple of wrongly accused subjects. do you know how much it costs to train a cop to get around the constitution? compare that to wasting a few meaningless lives in the big picture. a cop is far more valuable to the powers that be than a few innocent citizens. wtfu.
he was wrongly convicted because, prosecutors and cops are unsupervised.the fbi, atf, sbi, sled all those letters stick together. the thin blue line is really thick. a gang from the inside. total chaos is just around the corner because, this nation is losing respect for law enforcement.
Ahh, I see folks really don't get this. I'll talk slow. If this guy was already wealthy, it would have been, "Yes,sir, here's the money. Would you like some more ,sir? The guy isn't so it's, "Back of the bus, Gus." It has NOTHING to do with 'Justice' and everything to do with the reverence of Money & those who have it. How much is the 'poorest' Supreme Court Justice worth? I rest my case.
The world is a fucked up place, thats why I am a citizen of 3 countries. The US government is not gonna catch me in that bullshit. My ass will be on a plane so quickly if I was ever told I had to serve 14 years for some shit I didnt do.
This country is insane, this situation is just disgusting. I am afraid to be black in the USA now
@ScientistSoundSytem If I got to see those prosecutors themselves end up in prison and REAL prison no special protections I would enjoy the sight more than jennifer garner in a bathtub.
What I want to know is where the fuck is the real murderer? probably still out in the streets. And how the hell do those 4 prosecutors sleep at night?
What a cruel, stupid country we live in. Or in this case just stupidly cruel. It's not like any one in particular is being enriched by this particular sort of corruption. Just the ruling class protecting one another and laughing at a serf after destroying him for no real reason whatsoever.
Thanks Jayyar, you gave the most compelling solution. Even if the guy doesn't get any money for being in prison for 14 years and nearly killed. The prosecutors should be, if proven as deliberate. I don't know who in their right mind could argue against that sentence. It can be shown that they don't have sufficient remorse to avoid jail time, if they had 14 years (ample chance) to correct their wrongdoing. Thanks Justice Jayyar, your ruling is just, in my opinion.
Is there ANYTHING we can do to fix it? Or is this a done deal? I would be all for getting each one of them fired, they should be ashamed of themselves.
This is by far the most irritating news story that I've ever heard. Not because you guys at TYT told it don't worry.. just because of the entire bullshit that this man had endured. It makes me so angry. ._.
This is the scariest story of the year. I think when people who are supposed to uphold justice (cops, judges, prosecutors, etc) do such crimes they should be punished 2x as much. We have so much respect for their judgement and when they do shit like this it undermines our entire justice system.
Who's going to do anything about it? No one. Were all just going to agree that the justice system is corrupt, and that the prosecutors should lose their jobs and go to prison, but none of us will actually do anything.
TYT please make a report when the prosecutors get charged with attempted murder. Oh and can you also make a report when the people will protest in front of the supreme court? Thanks!
And people look at this and expect you not to think that its going on anywhere; PLEASE!...There is OBVIOUSLY widespread CORRUPTION!...Deal With It!...
@Akhotnik Please leave this "Fucked Up" country then. I am sure there are other countries that will give you money not to work and let you run your stupid fucking mouth from your mommy's basement while you pop the pimples on your morbidly obese body and lick the pimple juice. Get the fuck out of here. You are nothing but a loud mouth who can't back it up. I can back up my mouth and I will gladly show you just what a pussy you are if you want to find out.
Since you can't handle freedom of speech and outrage at injustice, you're the one who doesn't belong. Please, take your own advice. You don't have the courage to live in a fee state. Try China, no one will criticize the state there and hurt your sensitive feelings.
I wonder what it takes to create a human being with such a damaged self esteem you go on the internet and tell people you're going to beat them up, feeling somehow better about yourself from it while looking like a troll or sad loser to everyone else. Spoiled rotten? Beaten mercilessly by your mom? Raped by your uncle? Guess what? The person who abused you was pathetic and lost - emulating them turns you into the same thing.
@TheGiantRobot I see you are one of the "Reality Based Community". You also are a mind reader aren't you? You know how I was raised and who raised me. You must have lived next door to me when I was a kid right? Why do you harbor such resentment for your family? You most likely are in a long term therapy program and also medicated. Were you bullied all through school too? They bullied you because you were so much smarter right?
Nope, I'm not a mind reader, nor did I live next to you. Those were questions, not knowledge. Did I come that close to the mark? And no, I don't resent my family, kids appreciated my smarts, bullies knew not to mess with me, and I don't do therapy or drugs. What is it you're trying to figure out about me? Why I call out hypocrites?
@TheGiantRobot Your not worth any more of my time. Anyone who brags about how smart they are really has some deep rooted issues that they refuse to deal with. Get some help before you go postal.
@tuber123asd haha you mean like this story? relax buddy, you took that comment way too seriously. Your right human decency does happen everyday, but so does obvious corrupt situations like this one. In institutions like this its RARE that a person is treated with humanity, the system dehumanizes people and this story just exemplifies that. whats is countless is how many people have been done wrong by this nation, what is happening to humanity? is its becoming more scarce everyday.
this country is such a Hypocracy...liberty & justice for all my ass...wtf.....this country sucks....hmm, was money put into SECRET accounts of the Supreme crt righties???
I love how they blame conservatism as the root of all this. Talk about spinning a story. That's like saying that because 3 of the 4 prosecutors are LIBERALS, that means this only happened because there are liberals.
That said, this was a bad decision by corrupt people (regardless of whether they are conservative or liberal).
@GovOfWolves No not true. I am personally a conservative and i have been subscribed to TYT for some time now,the reason why is they point out stupidity in government, that mainly focuses on conservatives as it should be being they are liberal. However in this they simply said 5 of the conservative justices said he shouldn't get anything, thats unbelievable. And obviously you haven't been watching them for to long, even though they mainly make fun of my party and your party,ALL of it makes sence
@24streetster I've been watching them long before Cenk went to MSNBC and they often have a liberal spin. They didn't just mention this once, they repeated it. As for "my party", I'm not a conservative (and wouldn't have to be one in order to see the obvious here).
@GovOfWolves Yep i think we both have been watching for about the same time, however i never said you were a conservative, i was referring to them majorly making fun of conservatives because they are liberals, and occasionally making fun of democrats.
That's why we don't have the death penalty in Canada. There's a hostel in Ottawa that use to be a jail where they hung people. Every person hung there was later proven innocent.
How is it conservatives, who want small government, are the strongest supporters of government sanctioned murder? The United States is the only developed nation that still uses the death penalty. Of course were're also the most religious, racist, sexist, and homophobic deleoped nation. Fuck it, maybe we're actually a third world country.
Our supreme court is so racist and conservative it's ridiculous. Losing their jobs? These are sworn in prosecutors, if a police officer is found guilty of corruption by the IA they go to prison, the prosecutors office is a much higher level of trust and nothing short of life in prison would be justice for this prosecutor. Also, every case this prosecutor was lead on should be investigated or automatic re-trails granted, or even dismissed. It seems everything about America is becoming shameful.
Ok this story just really pissed me off. Remember that guy, Mozila, who stole 600 million dollars in foreclosure fraud, and he didn't serve a day in jail for it. But if your average black man is FRAMED and serves 14 years with the death penalty, he doesn't even get compensation at the end?! The Supreme Court can go off themselves, along with the worthless prosecutors. I honestly and truly hope these disgusting excuses for human beings suffer a painful death... some fucking justice please.
The Supreme Court is a Statutory Court and isn't a Court of the people. They are a corporate statutory court. There is no Supreme Court of the people... Just a Supreme Court of the Corporations. This is how they get away with all their BS. They ruled on this guy's legal fiction, not his actual person.
If I were this man, I will give up *everything* for a little vengeance, i.e. Finding each one of those persecutors and bludgeoning them to death with a hammer.
Not only did the prosecutors withhold evidence in order to wrongfully convict someone for a crime they didn't commit, but because they got the wrong guy convicted, the one who actually did commit the crime is still free.
Those prosecutors should be disbarred and sentenced to 14 years in prison without early parole. They should have to serve the exact same amount of time. They should also be forced to pay back the money they were payed as prosecutors. How many others did they wrongfully convict.
@bandanavillain Only for someone too material to cherish freedom and life over money. If someone offered me 14 million dollars to go to prison for 14 years I would never accept.
Truth is no amount of money can make up for a decade and a half of lost time, plus living with the constant knowledge that you will be executed. It's a cliché, but time is all we really have.
He deserves that money, but it certainly isn't a 'good deal' nor does it compensate for what was done to him.
@SupaAmi Calm down. I'm far from being material but the world is. They rate you by how much money you have and treat you according to your financial state.
You are talking about freedom, but we are not free in this world. Nobody cares about ordinary people. Unless you can get power you are not free. People live worse lives than it is in jail for so much less money than a million dollars that it is not even funny. That's what I meant.
I say send these assholes to death row...fuck 'em, the fully intended to murder this man so I am fine with us murdering them... I'm not one to believe in the death penalty for regular people, but if we started executing white lawyers and white bankers for their crimes you would see these crimes vanish in 24 hours!
In a capitalist system, the pirvatization runs deep, soon police, defense, judiciary will go into private hands.
Here in Sweden, we already had a time when high-income people, mostly nobility, higher clergy and manufacturers, could spend 40 votes instead of 1 vote per person in an election. That was a hundred years ago, I don't want to go back there.
Everybody must be able, no matter income, skin-colour, ethnicity or faith, to be equal in front of a civil court. Code Napoleon was before us all
By the way. Personally, I still supoort the death penalty.
Sure people fuck up a lot and put innocent people in prison. So, I blame the clumsy baffoons who can't get their shit right when it comes to convicting innocents from guilty buttholes.
But this world would be better off without let's a bomber who killed dozens of children who were killed in a school bombing. Why should I support this asshole's life in jail. Get rid of scumbags like these.
Shows you how many scumbag people there are on this planet. How they literally do not care what happens to another human being and his/her family as long as they get paid.
I say, jail these assholes for the same 14 years. An eye for an eye. That's justice!
All people who haven't see the movie 'Law Abiding citizen' with Gerard Buttler, should watch it. It tells a lot about the sick 'justice' system that's rife in USA.

I think what this boils down to is that Thomas and Scalia probably realize that there are hundreds of cases like these and they don't want to allow money from the system going to compensate people they view as criminals regardless of whether they were guilty. It also discourages people from bringing this stuff to light.
fabricondutube 10 months ago
I just read about this. It's outrageous. Scalia and Thomas are evil, apathetic scumbags. They had to completely ignore 95% of the facts to justify their ruling. The DAs in the case deliberately railroaded this guy when they KNEW he was innocent. Another reason why I am disgusted with this country. The supreme court should protect people. Not serve those who deliberately work against justice.
fabricondutube 10 months ago 2
@fabricondutube We are seeing the beginning, in America, of what people in other countries have experienced for decades or centuries. Is this how things began in those countries too I wonder? A gradual increase in unbelievable and deplorable events and decisions until one day, the rug was just snatched out from under them and they were introduced to man made hell.

GovOfWolves 11 months ago
@GovOfWolves No not true. I am personally a conservative and i have been subscribed to TYT for some time now,the reason why is they point out stupidity in government, that mainly focuses on conservatives as it should be being they are liberal. However in this they simply said 5 of the conservative justices said he shouldn't get anything, thats unbelievable. And obviously you haven't been watching them for to long, even though they mainly make fun of my party and your party,ALL of it makes sence

TheUSMetalhead 11 months ago
Ok this story just really pissed me off. Remember that guy, Mozila, who stole 600 million dollars in foreclosure fraud, and he didn't serve a day in jail for it.
How many others did they wrongfully convict.

bandanavillain 11 months ago
@bandanavillain Only for someone too material to cherish freedom and life over money. If someone offered me 14 million dollars to go to prison for 14 years I would never accept.
Truth is no amount of money can make up for a decade and a half of lost time, plus living with the constant knowledge that you will be executed. It's a cliché, but time is all we really have.
He deserves that money, but it certainly isn't a 'good deal' nor does it compensate for what was done to him.
