Sampson is slouching a tad. In 1986, before every jump ball between him and Parish, you could see about a 3" difference. He had 1" on Jabbar, who was 2" taller than Parish, so it all adds up.. I once talked to Jon Koncak in person; he and Robert are about the same height.

I saw Ralph Sampson in person once. He had to be 7'4. I've never seen a man that size! It was unbelievable. You don't realize how tall these guys are until you see them in person. It's like in the prense of giants. Makes you appreciate the 'shorter guys' like Jordan or even 'smaller' guys like Iverson who can dominate in the land of the giants. Just incredible their ability to do that when going up against these 'trees'. :)

Parish was listed at 7'0 1/2" so I'd say Sampson was at most 7'2". I don't think he was ever 7'4". Most NBA or NFL players for that matter inflate their true size.

if you pause it at 1:37 and draw an imaginary line from top of chief's head it would go to about top of ralphs forehead. so from that point to top of ralphs head is about 3 additional inches from 7'1".

He is 7'4". Robert Parish is 7'2", which is only 2 inches shorter, doesn't seem like Ralph is that tall, but he is.
