rebelfrak here. you're right, in a way. the "market" is giving the people what they want, if there was no demand for meat it wouldn't be provided. there IS a demand for meat because people are aculturated into eating something dangerous (have been for CENTURIES) and are not willing to let go of their bacon and burgers - therein lies the rub.

Of course. That''s the way it''s always been. Take your product to the best market. Market drives population.
Personal and Social culture limit change of lifestyle. Bananas, rice or apples. 'Local, regional, global, it doesn't matter. If people want meat the market will drive the buyer. If people want rice, the market will drive the price and location of the rice.
We are omnivores, opportunists. Yes, ideally veggies, but not against cultural and social tides, especially today.

well, I live up here in farm country...
And all of us up here know why the price of food went up and why there is a lot less now than there was just 4 years ago...
The Government has started to underwrite the ethanol fuel projects so much that millions of planted acres that used to go for food grains now are dedicated to uneatable fuel corn.
Millions of tons of the stuff sit where food crops used to grow.
Farmers have totally switched away from growing food to growing fuel
