@MrMuhins you always do a stiffer spring rate in the front and softer one in the rear, idk anything about 240sx set ups and a lot of its personal preference. us 86 guys usually do 8kg for our front springs and 6kg in the rear.

@loveguruy He uses KW Suspension, and any is good. You just gotta have a stiff suspension, so any coilovers would do the job. He answered a question like yours on his personal YouTube account. I suggest you go on there for more questions that you might have about drifting.

@snoisulli any is not good!, there is so much that goes into coilovers and you dont to buy some shitty d2's or ksport or anything then spring rates come into play. kw is great but very very spendy. best thing to do is build your own.

@creationoftheworld I think you're confusing Formula D with Formula 1. These teams don't require top notch engineers. Just the same, they rarely need engineers. Just mechanics and fabricators. Any engineers they have, they got through connections. There's not some super-selective process to get MIT and Caltech graduates for their Formula D team.

Ls1 would have a much better torque curve than vh41. Cost would be cheaper, aftermarket is huge, has been proven reliable.

I feel like an idiot asking this but what happened to the whole Lexus IS350 that Yoshihara was gonna drift? Is that something going on for 2011 season full time or what? I've seen him drift it before but I guess he went back to the S13.

@blewett76 he drove it for most of the 2009 season but he wrecked it at vegas. they had ASD drop the Hasselgren LS3 from the lexus into Ross Petty's old PS13 and that's what Dai's been using ever since. the IS350 is long gone tho

I went the the Gymkhana Grid HEre in irwindale and ken block lost to a 2door ford fiesta by Rockstar energy drink even with penalties and the best time of the day of 50 seconds for the AWD class and Dai yoshihara in the RWD with a time of 52 seconds with his beastly s13 ls2 By the way the AWD competitors were sloppy compared to the RWD Von Gittin Jr was Also shit in some 197something ford with only 300 hp just goes to show anyone can do the same as he can in a mustang

The LSX makes "any" car better, no acceptations. I could literally give a big list of people going LS1 over an actual JDM motor because at the end of the day cost to buy, own, tune and maintain is that much cheaper since the engine is readily available and wide spread. Right now my buddy is preparing to drop an LS1 into his S14 because once its in that's it, wont have to modify it because its already makes around 350HP/Torque so we can focus on everything else.

@Pirtex2 The thing is, S Chassis cars where never anything really special, they're a dime a dozen worldwide. The fact that the LS1 actually weighs less than the KA is enough reason to drop one, cast iron is VERY heavy and most people don't realize how much there favorite JDM engines weight but come to some stereotypical conclusion that an American V8 is somehow extremely heavy. Besides, most LS1 swaps are drift cars that will get beat up anyhow, they are not being preserved or anything.

@Pirtex2 The Japanese make v8 engines they even put one in the GTR to race FIA GT.because they can't use turbos.all the Indy cars run v8 Honda engines.the LS engines are used all over the world for Racing because they work. these cars are all made out of aftermarket parts anyway.its not like these are stock cars.

@tanabe4 Not entirely true. An SR20 that would perform like the LS in Dai's current car would be a nightmare. It would be too difficult to maintain. The beauty of Dai's V8 S13 is that it's quite easy to maintain without any headaches that a built SR20 would give.

Probably the best S13 in the world. A combination of a good chassis and a good American V8 engine with torque to spare. No turbo lag here, because you put the foot down and there is power there at any RPM. Gotta love NA engines.

@2fast4all hiro sumida drove the first version of the discount tires IS350. it had a 2JZ and then an LS6. dai inherited it last year but did poorly, eventually crashing it here at vegas. the LS6 was salvaged from the car and dropped into Ross Petty's old PS13, which dai now drives.

@DZoneTV its all preference. The KA series engines they come with here have alot of potential as do the SR and RB series engines from Nissan but some people are more comfortable working with something their more familiar with or just simply like an LS V8 better :)

@DZoneTV stock american cars have shitty suspension geometry. every domestic muscle car in FD is probably tubed up and probably has a complete suspension swap to double wishbones. but almost all JDM sportscars have excellent suspensions and very light chassis, and american V8 engines are excellent for drifing. so it only makes sense to combine the light JDM chassis with a V8 engine.
