@MrMuhins you always do a stiffer spring rate in the front and softer one in the rear, idk anything about 240sx set ups and a lot of its personal preference. us 86 guys usually do 8kg for our front springs and 6kg in the rear.
@loveguruy He uses KW Suspension, and any is good. You just gotta have a stiff suspension, so any coilovers would do the job. He answered a question like yours on his personal YouTube account. I suggest you go on there for more questions that you might have about drifting.
@snoisulli any is not good!, there is so much that goes into coilovers and you dont to buy some shitty d2's or ksport or anything then spring rates come into play. kw is great but very very spendy. best thing to do is build your own.
What is up with all these people on all drift videos claiming they know things better then these professional engineers , seriously , if you are so great at tuning and building a drift car then why are you not a member of an formula d team and showing other engineers how it is done ? i highly doubt that anyone of you have more knowledge of tuning and building a drift car then any of these people that do it for a living and are members of formula d teams , time to wake up and be realistic !
@creationoftheworld I think you're confusing Formula D with Formula 1. These teams don't require top notch engineers. Just the same, they rarely need engineers. Just mechanics and fabricators. Any engineers they have, they got through connections. There's not some super-selective process to get MIT and Caltech graduates for their Formula D team.
@omfgimback of course there's a huge difference dude. didnt say there wasnt. but with his skills? and its not like he hasnt driven a rwd car before. just probably prefers 4wd since he's a rally driver. :D
I feel like an idiot asking this but what happened to the whole Lexus IS350 that Yoshihara was gonna drift? Is that something going on for 2011 season full time or what? I've seen him drift it before but I guess he went back to the S13.
@blewett76 he drove it for most of the 2009 season but he wrecked it at vegas. they had ASD drop the Hasselgren LS3 from the lexus into Ross Petty's old PS13 and that's what Dai's been using ever since. the IS350 is long gone tho
@generallees13 No that vinyl is on most of the falken cars. If you are referring to Jr.'s car, the vinyl changed on he car last year. Also last year his car's body was full carbon fibre... amazing car. GO DAI!!
I went the the Gymkhana Grid HEre in irwindale and ken block lost to a 2door ford fiesta by Rockstar energy drink even with penalties and the best time of the day of 50 seconds for the AWD class and Dai yoshihara in the RWD with a time of 52 seconds with his beastly s13 ls2 By the way the AWD competitors were sloppy compared to the RWD Von Gittin Jr was Also shit in some 197something ford with only 300 hp just goes to show anyone can do the same as he can in a mustang
Well he just won the RWD class at the Ken Block Gymkana event so obviously its a pretty fast car. Faster than a lot of the AWD cars that competed too.
REAL Free energy technology exists! But the powerfull Oil business won't alow common ppl to know this,Get a real free energy motor at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Big change is comming soon!
its funny I hate drifting, not my sport. Buttttt these techs for the s13 are giving out a lot of secrets which could easily separate a win from a loss in a race.....any race.....drifting or not. I like it! Thumbs up because this was a great technical video!
I wonder what Mike Kojima did to remove the larger roll couple and bump steer at the front... modified knuckles? Longer Ball joints won't cut it imo. They mentioned off the shelf stuff, so it would be awesome to know. Also looks like he has a wider track at the front of the car as well too.
The LSX makes "any" car better, no acceptations. I could literally give a big list of people going LS1 over an actual JDM motor because at the end of the day cost to buy, own, tune and maintain is that much cheaper since the engine is readily available and wide spread. Right now my buddy is preparing to drop an LS1 into his S14 because once its in that's it, wont have to modify it because its already makes around 350HP/Torque so we can focus on everything else.
@SpikeRazzor i guess running a LSsomething is a lot cheaper than keeping a high spec import engine. Thats why people here in europe throw BMW I6s and V8-12 in everything, even seen a Supra with the M3 I6. Or look at that one S14 with the Audi 20V.
@AccAkut1987 Its all about availability. They run engines that they can get parts for without sky high prices or the need to import . Its not surprising that americans run V8s, japanese run imports and europeans run v12s etc....
@SpikeRazzor Don't forget about the ford 302 also.... for a poor boy it the engine to have.... I picked up mine with a t-5 for a grand. Although not aluminum block it only weighs 60 pounds more than the stock 4-pot and 5speed in my e30.
@SpikeRazzor placing an LS1 or any v8 engine into a Japanese vehicle just ruins the feel and point of owning one .The sound that a Japanese 4 or 6 cylinder engine makes when it revs is as good as a v8 ,the way i see it you should just tune it.
@Pirtex2 Monkey see monkey do, Dude open up your mind, look how many people we have already doing the same crap over and over again until it becomes stale. Feel is subjective, its just and opinion because one mans soft is another mans too stiff, Oh and come on, what kind of tool buys a car because it comes from a curtain country? Meanwhile these same clowns are rocking Rota wheels while claiming to be all about "JDM". This is why the whole import scene is so dead, overtaken by rice and purists.
@Pirtex2 The thing is, S Chassis cars where never anything really special, they're a dime a dozen worldwide. The fact that the LS1 actually weighs less than the KA is enough reason to drop one, cast iron is VERY heavy and most people don't realize how much there favorite JDM engines weight but come to some stereotypical conclusion that an American V8 is somehow extremely heavy. Besides, most LS1 swaps are drift cars that will get beat up anyhow, they are not being preserved or anything.
@Pirtex2 The Japanese make v8 engines they even put one in the GTR to race FIA GT.because they can't use turbos.all the Indy cars run v8 Honda engines.the LS engines are used all over the world for Racing because they work. these cars are all made out of aftermarket parts anyway.its not like these are stock cars.
@tanabe4 Not entirely true. An SR20 that would perform like the LS in Dai's current car would be a nightmare. It would be too difficult to maintain. The beauty of Dai's V8 S13 is that it's quite easy to maintain without any headaches that a built SR20 would give.
Probably the best S13 in the world. A combination of a good chassis and a good American V8 engine with torque to spare. No turbo lag here, because you put the foot down and there is power there at any RPM. Gotta love NA engines.
Wasn't there an lexus is350 with falken and discount tires livery a few years a go that was powered by some big v8? Who drove it and why did it die off? the tc's took over? or sc300's were meant for drifting than this new fancy corolla like car?
@2fast4all hiro sumida drove the first version of the discount tires IS350. it had a 2JZ and then an LS6. dai inherited it last year but did poorly, eventually crashing it here at vegas. the LS6 was salvaged from the car and dropped into Ross Petty's old PS13, which dai now drives.
@DZoneTV Why not? Im a car guy period! I dont hate certain types of cars just ignorant people and haters :P lol. So something like this is just unique (not too much but still not played out lol) and kool to me :P
@DZoneTV its all preference. The KA series engines they come with here have alot of potential as do the SR and RB series engines from Nissan but some people are more comfortable working with something their more familiar with or just simply like an LS V8 better :)
@DZoneTV stock american cars have shitty suspension geometry. every domestic muscle car in FD is probably tubed up and probably has a complete suspension swap to double wishbones. but almost all JDM sportscars have excellent suspensions and very light chassis, and american V8 engines are excellent for drifing. so it only makes sense to combine the light JDM chassis with a V8 engine.

@striderhiryu201 that's ture and they did the opposite thing in that shitty movie Tokyo Drift with the Mustang or Camaro I can't tell I couldn't watch that movie it hurt too much, but I think they dropped a rb25 or a sr20 in the muscle car.
@bboysoy Damn your good. Did you watch that movie? I mean it might have been good if they didn't have Chow Wow in it and made it like Initial D too a degree, But from what I did see some of the car were ok. I tried to watch this movie on the spanish network and I just couldn't take it, But thanks for the info and reply.
@civicmaneg6 haha! yea well i used to have an RB and my buddy had a RB26 so that's why i knew when I saw the movie. It was kinda corny but I guess they had to use what they had there. you can always still watch it in english haha!
@civicmaneg6 i honestly thought it was pretty good haha! but im a sucka for drifting. at least watch it all then post. makes you ignorant to comment on something you haven't even watched yet, just saying.
@bboysoy You right I love drift, but if it comes on again I will try too watch it or if I can find the bootleg then I can fast forward too the good parts.
@jianson870621 LOL I'm worse than you - I couldn't even make out a single word that he said. I've been to Japan and the English skills the people there possess are limited. I've tried asking them for directions to a washroom and they made me call a translator.
It was at a customer services counter at a mall too - go figure.

@danielkabuto :( I hate when muscle car engines are put in tuners
striderhiryu201 1 year ago
@striderhiryu201 why? as long as you "tune" those engines properly, they're still as badass as any other, if not more. =)

@civicmaneg6 hmmm, well honestly, you can't really judge or critique something unless you really watched it. just my opinion
bboysoy 1 year ago
@bboysoy So it might be worth watch? Maybe with the mute on then I think I can watch it.
civicmaneg6 1 year ago
@civicmaneg6 i honestly thought it was pretty good haha! but im a sucka for drifting. at least watch it all then post. makes you ignorant to comment on something you haven't even watched yet, just saying.
bboysoy 1 year ago
@bboysoy You right I love drift, but if it comes on again I will try too watch it or if I can find the bootleg then I can fast forward too the good parts.

did he say "rock and roll" or "lock and load"? lol
jianson870621 1 year ago
@jianson870621 LOL I'm worse than you - I couldn't even make out a single word that he said. I've been to Japan and the English skills the people there possess are limited. I've tried asking them for directions to a washroom and they made me call a translator.
It was at a customer services counter at a mall too - go figure.
