  • Looks unfinish!

  • @TheSladjanna Then watch the second video. This one says "One of Two". "Two of Two" is the next video. Then you will see it finished.

  • Nice work, Thankkss (y) :)

What does this tool named? it seems like a brush?!

    I am a biggener in sculpting :)

  • @GoldenRatio7 It is a "ClayShaper" and that was a cone tip size "zero". They come in different sizes and different tip shapes depending on what you need. Just use small sizes for small jobs and big ones for big jobs. I've knocked the small tip of a clay shaper trying to move a big hunk of clay. Not happy. Do check my site under "Man and Beast" for polymer clay sculpting tutorials.

  • @AuntyAlias yeah, Thank youuuu sooo much for ur help :)

    Sure i'll! ;)

  • Hi great videos. I was wondering if you tell me where you get the eyes from. Im from the UK so could you let me know what their called. Also what wire do you use. Im knew to sculpting and im using your videos to help! thanks

  • wow , amazing vid, I'm gonna give it a try

    thanks!!!

    Keep up the great work!

  • Is that just a regular brush or some special tool for molding ?

    By the way...GREAT job ! -)

  • @Vanjal Thank you for the kind words. The tool is called a "clayshaper" and that one is a cone tipped "zero" size. The tip is made of silicon so it is flexible. Of all the tools I have the clayshapers are my most used. I have larger ones to move bigger masses of clay around, medium sized ones to get general outlines, the smaller ones for detail. They are great for getting rid of fingerprints.

  • muito obrigada!

    mesmo

    eliane

  • Excellent thanks!!!

  • I've always had the problem where the clay gets too soft from the heat given off by my hands and I end up destroying a section of my work

  • Now this is a great video!

  • All the other videos were "snag it" captures during a webcam demo done with Yahoo Messenger, years ago. That's why they are slow and there is no sound. The face sculpting videos were done with the webcam on motion detection mode. Future videos will be done with the webcam motion detection method. I still won't use sound because some of my students are deaf.

  • i was wondering ware you got that flexible tool, (the first one) by the way the face is grate.

  • The tool is a "clayshaper" size zero. Do a search for ClayAlley and look under sculpting tools. That's where I get mine. They are great, especially since the tip is soft it is gentle on the polymer clay.

  • Oo this is so great and so helpful, I was trying to make a face out on my clay but I couldn't find any good tutorial to show me how to do the eyes. Thank you for this! oh and by the way, what tool is that you are using to do the face with ?...

  • The tool is a "clayshaper" size zero. There are different sizes depending on the amount of clay you want to push around. I find the cone tip great for smoothing out fingerprints, just roll the side of the cone tip over the surface. It works great. I'm glad that you found my video helpful. Check my profile for my website, there's tons of free tutorials there. Look at "Man and Beast" for the sculpting sections.

  • oh okay ^^ thank you and I will. :3

  • what is the address of your website please.

    thanks

  • It's in my profile. When I try to put it in a reply YT doesn't let me.

  • Thank u so much for this its so much more easier to follow than some of the other videos i have seen (and thank for not adding any annoying music) :D

    Haleema xx

  • QH: You made me laugh with the annoying music remark. Some of my ClayMates are deaf or hard of hearing. Some ClayMates speak another language other than English, and captions can be paused for translation, push come to shove. Also these videos were captured during a webcam demo in a Yahoo Messenger conference. A German gal snagged the avi files, sent them to me, I edited them and loaded them up here. They never had sound and viewers can listen to their own music while watching, yes? ;-)

  • Exactly !!!! Oh i see - you have a crafts group on yahoo then? Jus had a looky at yer site and yer other videos :) Ur very talented

  • Brilliant :- )

  • Thank you. My hope is to inspire others to sculpt. If you're interested in learning how to work with polymer clay check my website for tons of free tutorials. Have a great day.

  • (please respond)what is the tool he is using(please respond)

  • They are called "clayshapers" and I get mine from ClayAlley online. For very small details I use a zero size cone tip. There are larger sizes and different shapes. Use large size for large masses because I've broken the tip off of my zero size by pushing too much clay with it. It's like you can't push an elephant with a broom. ;-)

  • )Pozdrawiam serdecznie z Krakowa:)

  • jestem zaszczycany od San Francisco szczerze

  • where did you get your tools? what are they called cuz i need to get me some of those!

  • You may wish to try dental tools, I have a full set and they are excellent for many aspects of sculpting especially with polymer clays. I use super sculpey which is what I think is also being used in this vid. Great vid cheers for the tips.

  • thank thank thank you! i have always wondered how sculptors do it!

  • Using the clay you're using, do you think its necessary to have a wire frame underneath?

What is better for the baking process, heavy layers or thin?

Thanks for this video! Its a great help!

  • Polymer clay gets really soft when it heats up in the oven. Without some sort of armature you'd have a seated figure end up splayed out like he had no bones, because he didn't have bones. Even with an aluminum foil armature you still have to prop up a figure because it'll "relax" in the oven. I learned that the hard way. You're welcome, thank you for the comment.

  • can the brand be sculpey clay

  • Premo is part of the Sculpey product line. Sculpey Firm, which comes in only one color, can be used. It's good for sculpting. I don't like to paint my finished items and that's why I use Premo, mix my colors, then sculpt. Original Sculpey is not strong enough and is good for craft projects with kids. I hope that helps.

  • thanks for your video!nice rubber tool. what is the name of it so as i can get one please!

  • I answered this but it didn't show up. It's called a "clayshaper" and I get mine from ClayAlley. Do a search online for "clayshaper".

  • What material are you using?

    x

  • Polymer clay, Premo brand. It's a low heat setting clay, sets hard in a half hour at 130C/275F degrees. It's a petroleum byproduct, like PCV pipes. It cannot be used for food service, so no cups, dishes, bongs or kazoos. If it burns don't inhale, that's when it is toxic. Polymer clay is inexpensive and can be heat set in the kitchen oven, so it's popular with artists on a budget. Hope that helps.

  • Well that was very precise thenkyou

  • Great Video, thanks for sharing.

  • WOW I love this out of all the polymer clay stuff tutriosl I ahave seen this is the best and very detailed instruction anyone could learn so much watching this for the first time

  • I love your tutorial, where is the sound? It would be so helpful

  • i dont think theyre recorder/ webcam or whatever it is can handle it

  • what's things needed 4 a kickstart on sculpting?tis totally amazing,maybe i'll try it sometimes..

  • Thank you for sharing your tutorial. I would love to know the name of the tool that you are using and where I can purchase one please. Thanks again, Gerry

  • Gerry: It's called a "clay shaper" and they come in various sizes. If you need a big strong one go for "color shapers" that some painters use.

  • Nice job, perhaps some sound on the video would be nice. I teach Polymer Clay classes at a Michaels Craft store, and had never thought of putting something on line. I am glad to see someone did.

  • Thanks for the kind words. The reason why my videos don't have sound is because some of my students are deaf or hard of hearing. I used my webcam on "motion detection" setting so when I stopped my hands the webcam stopped. Then I brought the saved video to Movie Maker, part of the Window's package, to add the captions, then I loaded it up here. I'm sure you're going to be able to do it too. Let me know when you get some up and I'll check them out.

  • becoming magic when starting the neck !!! wonderful... I love sculpting.....^^

  • thankf for that

  • Thanks for the great tutorial. What is the name of the tool you are using? and is that plain super sculpy? thanks

  • It is called a clayshaper, that is a size "zero", they come in different sizes and shapes. The clay brand is Premo, part of the Sculpey product line. I order both online from ClayAlley.

  • Great stuff!

  • Oh wow thats pretty kewl stuff!
