The worst I ever did while servicing a gas meter was to take a leak but, 1: I had been there a while and couldn't leave, 2: I pee'd in the tall grass next to a chain link fence and not on the house, and 3: the customer was not home for me to ask to use the bathroom. The bad thing was, I kept looking around to make sure no-one was watching and I pissed all over my shoes and pants, hahahaha!

Some just aren't impartial in their decisions. As a long time union stewart, I saw it from both side of the fences. Some get away with murder (especially mgmt.), and some get the guillotine work the most simplest of offenses. Firing a craft employee and making it stick is like a war medal

It is an attempt much like a prosecutor to incriminate a defendent to a jury, even if the remarks are stricken from the record. I've sat across the table from them numerous times in step 4 meetings. You should have seen some of the things they tried to pin of me that got thrown out at the arbitration meeting without even having to wait for the decision to come a few days later.

But once the postmaster heard why he fired the guy. The guy was already under disciplinary process for a couple other issues and this was the last straw. I asked twice, in writing, for his job to be spared. HE sued because he said nobody warned him peeing on houses would get him fired. Arbitrator ruled against him.

@AnifinderInc Other than the time takes to hose down the area, I suffered no damages. That is why I did not commence any legal action against him - I just didn't want him back at my house again. He appealed his termination through arbitration as allowed by his contract. I was called as a witness to validate that the video was real. This was one of a few disciplinary issues raised at the hearing.
The arbitrator said his "didn't know he could get fired for it" defense was 'disingenuous'.

I agree. I do not need a service guy/gal peeing on my house. If I did that to one of my customer's homes, I'd expect backlash and embarrassment. The last S in USPS stands for Service. You are the customer. If they treat you like you are their bitch... they get canned. Delivering mail does not qualify one for many other jobs so hopefully the peeer was bettering himself on his own time, getting ready for this.

@superjimfuman I think you might be right. I got a speeding ticket a while back, told the cop I was guilty as charged, I was just desperate to pee and was trying to find a coffee shop to stop at. He said "why didn't you just go in the park?" when I asked if that was legal, he said it is, as long as you try to keep yourself hidden, then told me to go behind a bush while he filled out the ticket.

@imgodsatan "Before we had X we did Y" is an irrelevant argument. Before we had clean surgical procedures doctors would operate on people without washing their hands first. That does not mean it is acceptable these days to operator on someone with dirty hands.
Point is that we DO have toilets, we DO have laws against exposing yourself in public and we DO have laws against peeing one someone's property. I accept that you may not mind if your stuff is peed on. But I do.

I don't think he should have been fired. What he did was wrong of course, but I think a month suspension would have been enough to teach him a lesson. It's not like he kicked your dog or broke your fence down or something. He was just taking a leak, which yes is wrong but to get fired!? That's a bit too much.

I had a mail person knock on my door and say "Excuse me miss but I really have to go," and I was totally fine with it, let him and and even offered him coffee. That is what a normal human being does, way better than pissing one someones darn door ew...I wouldn't want him handling my mail ether.

There was an open business with public restrooms 2 stops/2 minutes before my house. He denied any medical condition or mediciations that would make it unusually urgent. He had no excuse for not going at the public restroom. And this was "the last straw" for the USPS after a history of discliplinary problems.
