turn your wheel a little, press the clutch down all the way, give the car max rpm take your foot fast off your clutch and you will get out of it. i tried it with my audi a4 1.8T it works :)
@granolanutpunch actually depending on the awd system, it can be better off road or in deep crap like this. Obviously, a traditional 4wd with 3 locking differentials would give you the most traction, however many 4wd drives do not come standard as such. This A6 I believe, is equipped with quattro gen 4, which auto locks the center diff. Audi's quattro is a good awd system and should not be confused with "faux-wheel-drive". Faux-w-d likes to sip tea willing trying to move some torque around.
@flyflyaway75flyfly It is a great system but to be honest Audi's are scary in snow and ice. I think it's because they're light, have wide tires and are AWD... It's a twitchy combination that can really work against you if you're not RIGHT on top of it. Most people instinctively drop the gas when they start to slide and in 4WD or AWD that's the worst thing you can do.
My favorite snowy/icy road set up is a chevy suburban with auto 4WD. It's heavy enough and well balanced.
@granolanutpunch Audis are light??? And if wide tires is the problem, buy narrower? Personally I would never buy wide snow tires, for any car. But you are right about not dropping the gas while sliding, worst thing you can do. You will just slide into the nearest ditch. 4WD/AWD + skid = press the gas and steer where you want to go.
@ringlol They're way light compared to an SUV and still lighter than most full size sedans... one of the reasons they're so much fun on dry pavement.
I personally love AWD and 4WD in the snow because I get bored easily and like sliding around. It just scares me how many people who've never gotten sideways think they're in a great snow car just because it's AWD.
Better acceleration and breaking? By far.
Better cornering? For most drivers, way worse! For good divers, way better!
let me tell you my a8 never get stuck the car just makes ground clearence all by it self and with that 4.2 I never get stuck even with all that snow we got this year
It's not about power just use better snow tires like WINTERA they are best for snow u can climb on hill with them i'm using them on my Yugo Koral 45, 33PS, 900cc. And i'm driving and climbing even on Ice with no problem. I'm not joking, trust me.
Hey, nice car i have an a4 quattro and i am just wondering where did you get those steel rims from? and what size are they? cause my rims are the 17" rims and im pretty sure they are the 17x7.5 but i have asked tire guys everywhere and they say you can only get thinner and smaller rims or ones that are the right size but wont work on the audi. i would buy smaller or whatever just for the winter but problem is i already have blizzak winter tires, that are for my rims 235/45R17

Not enough clearance and it's not 4wd. It's all wheel drive. Huge difference.

its all about ground clearence...of course a jeep would drive through it with ease...but 4MATIC vs quattro...haha yea right dont compare that.

quattro only good for the track. 4MATIC is better in snow and all.
