Dont you know that amateurs with cameras dont know how to focus or follow a fast moving object?... I would be worried if it was focused. Also these planes can a l m o s t hold a hover on power alone. (the models hover easily as you see in this video but the real planes cannot) Also you judge colors on different lighting conditions and sizes on different angles. And where are the cut servo cables if it was a model? And did you expect a smooth landing on one wing?

It's sad to think my dad thought this was real... He was showing everybody and was all proud of finding it. He's a pilot himself, I was only 13 when he showed me and even I could recognize the extremely unrealistic movement when it came down. Still makes me laugh to think about it though.
Planes like that are small enough and light enough so that if it does lose a wing a parachute would deploy so that the plane, and the pilot, would float down to the ground safely.
What I don't get is how come everyone who makes fakes uses the exact same "faking" procedure. Senseless camera shaking and movement, random depth of field adjustments............things that don't make sense because real footage would never look like that or have those properties.
...why all the fuss? It was done for a production company! As a contest for the programs' viewers...The, 'trouble' was created within the viral community...any questions? Just go to the FAAs' web page -they have all the info anyone needs as to the, 'authenticity' of any aircraft-related incidents under investigation or cleared...
Whoever made this video on this "amazing incident", combining a real aircraft with a RC one (they forgot to mention the difference in colour about the propeller hub and landing gear- both black in the real plane BUT SILVER in the RC plane) and even CGI images (odd wing shadow on the fuselage at 0:26 when the wing was "missing", and tail wheel mysteriously dissapeared at 0:59 and 1:02) must feel "proud" of all the mess and debate that it lead to over the years, just for fun...
Fake video but with the torque and power of the engine in those planes it is possible to do what the video is showing. And yes I know it's fake I'm just saying it is possible to do that.
you can even tell its fake with out having to watch this just by the graphics itself. you have to be a complete and total retard (omg its not the end of the fucking world just because i said retard so stop your whining about using that word an get the fuck over it.) not to be able to tell its computer animation at the end of the clip where he recovers the plane an makes a safe landing.

It's a fake. There is another video showing how the radio controlled model plane was spliced in with the real plane. The paint jobs of the two don't exactly match.
100% Fake...haha! It was on a show called real or fake here in LA. There were not any 3D tricks used. If you are interested in a real life incident, search on Google for - Zlin wing structural failure. Pilot Neil Williams pulled off an amazing piloting feat in not only surviving but eventually put the Zlin down relatively in one piece, although it was considered a total loss. If you scroll down the list of results after initial search you'll also see the link to the A.I.B. investigation. N.W. was brilliant aerobatic pilot. He later lost his life in an air crash in Spain together with his wife.
Actually, there's a video on here called "Making-Of the Killa Thrill 'One Wing Landing' Viral Video". If you do a search for that, you'll see that the whole thing was orchestrated by a German group using a radio-controlled model plane. The part at the end where the pilot opens the hatch is a real plane with a real actor in it. He gets out and collapses. Great editing job, guys!
been a long time since I saw this comercial. cant remember what it was for at the time, but thsi video has been around for years. It was part of an advertisement for something.
@johnobama it is sooo fake!! low stress stunt, a plane like that can come with more g force than that, and also, the landing would of collapsed the landing gear!
You better believe this is real. I was there that day, and to this day I cannot even think of a moment that comes close to this. Chuck Norris, though his input was minimal, was filming. I ride an elephant to work on the autobahn and my name is Jesus Christ IV. I spend 11 months of the year in an igloo and paint pictures of mice on ice blocks with ketchup and sell them to India for a living. My cats breath smells like cat food.
This is a fake video. The "plane" that landed with only one wing is a radio control model. Play the video back and you'll see that the paint jobs don't exactly match.
Noooo... but see the wing that lost anything writte there.. another wing is clear... but, see the second plane in near camera.. waolaaa !!!!! that writte !!!! in the air, wing paint ¿? hahahhahahahahahhahahaha
The first time i saw it, i just knew it was not all rith. Specially how the plane sits on the ground at last, it looks like a shadow hand pushed it back on agian.. :-) Oh my GOD is there no end to.....
Look carefully at the last turn before the plane stops.. The size of the plane changed alot whereas the distance from the building behind to the plane is roughly the same.. Just take note of the height before and after the turn/blur..
Look carefully at the last turn before the plane stops.. The size of the plane changed alot whereas the distance from the building behind to the plane is roughly the same.. Just take note of the height before and after the turn/blur..
diffinatly fake if that really happend the plane would barrel role and you can tell its computerized after it lands and when it lands the plane would of lost its landing gear and exploded fakeeeeeee
Almost fooled me, but after watching 3 times, the plane that takes off is NOT the same plane that landed. Just really good 'editing'. And I guess a fairly skilled pilot to land. Then again, this could probably just be a 'stunt' performed by a good pilot. However, 2 different planes in this video, so definitely a 'hoax'.
I cant believe there are still people out there trying to convince themselves this is authentic. They're probably also the First ones to insist the Moon landing was fake.People are willing to believe just about anything these days.
@FoulOwl , in fact it's not "these days"... remember the whole nazis and hitler stuffs, it became with one man telling stories to others... What you see here just shows us how easily it could happend again...
The audio voice acting is bad enough: Immediately, the guy says, "Where is his RIGHT wing?" People aren't that specific. "Oh my God!" "RUN!".... Bad monster movie lines...
Incorrect. Although this video may be a fake in the same way an aircraft can sustain altitude during a knife edge it would be able to replicate this by flying sideways. There are several well documented cases of this happening. What is the most suspicious about this is the wing detaching during such a low-g maneuver.
lol all this things i saw too,i knew at the beginning that this is a fake and @ww2footage, yes this red bull air race planes (zivko edge 540's) are very powerful but not powerful enough to do a landing with one wing, because the only wing the plane had was the rudder and thats too small to take the nose in the air,... he would crash..
i do actually understand physics, and i have practiced with a number of my planes flying them on a knife edge and lining up on the runway incase it happens i can post a video if u want proof. I have and eflite extra 330 and it has a power to weight ration of about 3:1 so its easily powerful enough
I just want to point out that he still had one big wing to work with - the fuselage. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the video's real, I don't know if it is or not. But, at a steep angle of attack, as in the video, a fuselage can provide enough lift to sustain level flight, stunt pilots do this all the time, seen it done at many an airshow. And stunt planes do typically have very overpowered engines compared with recreational aircraft. Just a thought...
a wing is just a wing because it gives a lift and the fuselage is not giving any lift.
to do the real knife edge u need to give an important angle in the beginning of this element. the gravity (9.81 m/s^2) is just too strong for any hanging manouver.
I did not see a hanging manouver, the plane was moving forward at all times. As I said, I have seen it done many times, you can see it yourself, just go to an airshow. Ask anyone who is a trained pilot like myself, who understands aerodynamics. A simple experiment, hold a piece of cardboard out the window of a moving car and change the angle of the cardboard and notice there is a definite force upward or downward depending on the angle of incidence to the flow of air. Or, believe as you wish.
Once again, I take no side in this debate, the video's validity is unimportant to me, I don't care whether it's a fake or not. What is important to me is getting the facts right and understanding that a lifting body does not have to be a wing or be shaped exactly like one, to produce lift. What is required to produce lift is the correct angle of attack and enough forward speed. If you ask your pilot friend about this, I would be surprised if he disagreed. Thanks for your reply!
it is possible because these planes have extremely powerful engine and at the same time they are extremely light weight so he can "hang" on his engine
A real aircraft could never jump like that as it did in the video. It jumped it's own height and landed just as fast and it didn't have a falling speed enough to do so and also the landing gear did not get any damage. And also the propeller in the end can not turn off like so.
The maneuver where the wing was lost was a relatively low G maneuver ... there is no way that a main wing spar would snap cleanly off and leave no trace of it on a real plane. The wing on that plane is rated at a G load that far exceeds what any human can endure.
However on a model plane with a foam or wood wing (or a CGI model, more likely) this would not present a problem. I've seen several videos of RC planes landing without a wing, but they have a more than 1:1 trust/weight ratio.
I don't find your argumengts at all convincing. The question of the white trim can easily be explained by the trim being refelective and therfore shining more when in the air. The bulbous shape of the nose is a result of the camera panning and reflecion from it's metallic surface. If you look at the plane just before landing you'll see it has the bulbous shape. What is suspicious is the blurring and sudden deceleration after bouncing on landing, and the camera having no difficulty following.
About the first sequence : if it was not a fake, the rudder of the plane would have been at a more extreme angle to keep the airplane in this attitude.
As shaddowsword wrotes, Bill Hempel does it with a 33% rc plane, but the power to weight ratio is much different.
@tibtibheli fake, the first plane was real, but they cut the clip in the middle of the video and traded it with an RC plane, you can tell, the labels change through the video! besides, the plane is too small to be real. and in the end, you can even see the fake man.
Are you seriously saying that there are people that honestly believed that this was real. Everything about it is wrong, from the lighting to the exaggerated motions. Whoever did the animation for the propeller stopping should be shot.
I notice people talk about "obvious paitning" Honestly, most of what people say is painting could be a combination of bad camra, bad focus, and then file compression for youtube. You can see the same "artifacts" in almost every compressed file, because the compression software doesn't redraw every frame compleatly, so often artifacts, color changes, and pixilation occurs just in normal shots. Again not saying it happened or not, but should look at the origional uncompressed film.
the only thing i know here is about the little yellow rc plane. that was during a airshow and was not meant to happen, yes the guy had seen Bill Hempel do the exact same thing with a 33% rc aircraft and he controled the plane the best he could and set it down. Minnimal damage to the plane, it was flyable, jsut needs a new wing.
L'aile casse pas, elle se détache comme pour dans le transport de l'avion vers d'autre compétition. Mais bon , c'est un trucage vidéo, le changement de vitesse juste avant l'attérissage est trop brusque
obvious fake ! starting @ :55 and ending @ :57 , the pilot would have to have heavy left rudder to sustain knife edge flight and the roll out was really short for speed that would be rqiured to maintain knife edge flight .
Actually not really, though i'm shocked the gear didnt colaps on that hit and bounce... no he wasn't using rudder that was 100% engine trottle... the plane would need close to a 1 to 1 trust to weight ratio, which is posable given the missing wing. its a 450hp engine in that bird. over 125 hp more then stock engines for that type. i think the aircraft is an edge 540... only about 600kg to begin with. its "plausable"
correct. PLUS, the plane would have already hat gigantic problems in mid flight with the wing missing, because of missing aerodynamics deue to the missing wing. i would have crashed...
actually its not shown but right when the wing is lost the plain first flips over hard, then goes into a spiral pilot trottles up tries to level out, before realizing what happened, then fights over reving the engine consantly using the engine itself to provide lift and stabalize the aircraft. the aircraft has a rollrate of 420dps to begin with, so he can "flip" it fast. again weither its true or not, can't say but it is plausable. heh, f-15 landed in sireal with only 1 wing.
I know but at the same time it shows its plausable for a plane to land, and not tip over or such on laning with only one wing. course again, wether or not this is true or not... different story... though theres a related story on redbulls page where the pilot of this aircraft was suspended because they state he chose to land a crippled aircraft risking spectators rather then ditching in the "crash zone" as is required. they don't say his wing fell off though in it
actually no... while yes, the left side does have more weight, the right wing is generating all the lift... so the play "lifts" twards the right, you see this same effect During the 2nd world war where bombers get their win shot off and all the lift shifts to the oposit wing, so the plane rolls towards the missing wing. Not saying the video is true or not... but saying that part is "technically correct" also you hear him firewall the engine using the engine itself to provide lift on landing.
OK, errrrrrrrr, but when the aircraft stopped it would not be creating lift in the serviceable wing so it would topple over, unless there wasn't enough weight in the remaining wing to allow this. Anyway, check the whole vid - you can see from the start of the point where the wing dropped off a load off electronic painting in of the background... Can you please tell me what ' firewalling the engine' means?? Thanks..
notice that when the plain is in the air it only seas killer on the right wing? but when he lands it seas killer on his left wing? and if you still think this is real check out a video called (DEBUNKED: The Best Air RACE Pilot Ever!!!)
You replied to a comment saying that there was no writing on the left wing, and say that you agree, then when it's proven wrong, you say that you misread the post you were replying to?
No-one is talking about the word 'thrill' on the right wing anyway!
it scared me so they done good job.

Yes it's fake but your reasoning on bouncing on landing still sucks...

Incorrect. Although this video may be a fake in the same way an aircraft can sustain altitude during a knife edge it would be able to replicate this by flying sideways. There are several well documented cases of this happening. What is the most suspicious about this is the wing detaching during such a low-g maneuver.
Porsche917LH 2 years ago 2
lol all this things i saw too,i knew at the beginning that this is a fake and @ww2footage, yes this red bull air race planes (zivko edge 540's) are very powerful but not powerful enough to do a landing with one wing, because the only wing the plane had was the rudder and thats too small to take the nose in the air,... he would crash..
that's a fake!

rad bull planes do have plenty of power to knife edge like this although it is deffinatly a fake
peterm8133 1 year ago
no,u really dont understand physics man, YES the edges are veeeery powerful but that a plane is able to fly the need wings TOO
and at the knife edge, the only wing the plane has, is the rudder AND THATS NOT ENOUGH surface to give the plane the needed lift.
believe me i've flown with nicolas ivanoff one time for 30 mins at he explained me that.
if u dont believe me watch my userpic
n73gamer
n73gamer 1 year ago
i do actually understand physics, and i have practiced with a number of my planes flying them on a knife edge and lining up on the runway incase it happens i can post a video if u want proof. I have and eflite extra 330 and it has a power to weight ration of about 3:1 so its easily powerful enough
peterm8133 1 year ago
HELLO?!? u can't compare RC-planes with real planes its completely another thing. have u ever seen that a real plane is hanging on his engine?!?
that's just possible with rc-planes.
DO NOT COMPARE THIS!
a real pane cannot hang on his engine.
to see that i show u a vid they are explaining the REAL physics in the red bull air race (including the knife edge:

I just want to point out that he still had one big wing to work with - the fuselage. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the video's real, I don't know if it is or not. But, at a steep angle of attack, as in the video, a fuselage can provide enough lift to sustain level flight, stunt pilots do this all the time, seen it done at many an airshow. And stunt planes do typically have very overpowered engines compared with recreational aircraft. Just a thought...
mikespulligan 1 year ago
a wing is just a wing because it gives a lift and the fuselage is not giving any lift.
to do the real knife edge u need to give an important angle in the beginning of this element. the gravity (9.81 m/s^2) is just too strong for any hanging manouver.
and that's my thought.^^
n73gamer
n73gamer 1 year ago
I did not see a hanging manouver, the plane was moving forward at all times. As I said, I have seen it done many times, you can see it yourself, just go to an airshow. Ask anyone who is a trained pilot like myself, who understands aerodynamics. A simple experiment, hold a piece of cardboard out the window of a moving car and change the angle of the cardboard and notice there is a definite force upward or downward depending on the angle of incidence to the flow of air. Or, believe as you wish.
mikespulligan 1 year ago
lol in the future i want to be a pilot to.
BUT, i mean the plane has only one wing (the rudder)
and thats definatlely not enough surface,
AND i was flying with Nicolas Ivanoff (red bull air race pilot) for 30 mins we had for a short time 7g's. wathc my user pic.
there you can see ivanoff with me.
he told me about this fake and why this isnt possible.thats why i were on this video.
i like discussions like that :P

Once again, I take no side in this debate, the video's validity is unimportant to me, I don't care whether it's a fake or not. What is important to me is getting the facts right and understanding that a lifting body does not have to be a wing or be shaped exactly like one, to produce lift. What is required to produce lift is the correct angle of attack and enough forward speed. If you ask your pilot friend about this, I would be surprised if he disagreed. Thanks for your reply!
mikespulligan 1 year ago
it is possible because these planes have extremely powerful engine and at the same time they are extremely light weight so he can "hang" on his engine
ww2footage 2 years ago
A real aircraft could never jump like that as it did in the video. It jumped it's own height and landed just as fast and it didn't have a falling speed enough to do so and also the landing gear did not get any damage. And also the propeller in the end can not turn off like so.
fake
robloxguggi 2 years ago
The maneuver where the wing was lost was a relatively low G maneuver ... there is no way that a main wing spar would snap cleanly off and leave no trace of it on a real plane. The wing on that plane is rated at a G load that far exceeds what any human can endure.
However on a model plane with a foam or wood wing (or a CGI model, more likely) this would not present a problem. I've seen several videos of RC planes landing without a wing, but they have a more than 1:1 trust/weight ratio.
AllenRockwell 2 years ago

Definitively a fake ;)

That rc plane video was incredible!
taofledermaus 2 years ago
@tibtibheli fake, the first plane was real, but they cut the clip in the middle of the video and traded it with an RC plane, you can tell, the labels change through the video! besides, the plane is too small to be real. and in the end, you can even see the fake man.

Artaphernes 2 years ago
I notice people talk about "obvious paitning" Honestly, most of what people say is painting could be a combination of bad camra, bad focus, and then file compression for youtube. You can see the same "artifacts" in almost every compressed file, because the compression software doesn't redraw every frame compleatly, so often artifacts, color changes, and pixilation occurs just in normal shots. Again not saying it happened or not, but should look at the origional uncompressed film.
kitsychan 2 years ago
the only thing i know here is about the little yellow rc plane. that was during a airshow and was not meant to happen, yes the guy had seen Bill Hempel do the exact same thing with a 33% rc aircraft and he controled the plane the best he could and set it down. Minnimal damage to the plane, it was flyable, jsut needs a new wing.

obvious fake ! starting @ :55 and ending @ :57 , the pilot would have to have heavy left rudder to sustain knife edge flight and the roll out was really short for speed that would be rqiured to maintain knife edge flight .
fls360 2 years ago
Actually not really, though i'm shocked the gear didnt colaps on that hit and bounce... no he wasn't using rudder that was 100% engine trottle... the plane would need close to a 1 to 1 trust to weight ratio, which is posable given the missing wing. its a 450hp engine in that bird. over 125 hp more then stock engines for that type. i think the aircraft is an edge 540... only about 600kg to begin with. its "plausable"
kitsychan 2 years ago
Ok, ok, now then, now then. The weight of the wing would have tipped the aircraft over to the left after landing..
updougdown 2 years ago
correct. PLUS, the plane would have already hat gigantic problems in mid flight with the wing missing, because of missing aerodynamics deue to the missing wing. i would have crashed...
Ghettoborner 2 years ago
actually its not shown but right when the wing is lost the plain first flips over hard, then goes into a spiral pilot trottles up tries to level out, before realizing what happened, then fights over reving the engine consantly using the engine itself to provide lift and stabalize the aircraft. the aircraft has a rollrate of 420dps to begin with, so he can "flip" it fast. again weither its true or not, can't say but it is plausable. heh, f-15 landed in sireal with only 1 wing.
kitsychan 2 years ago
yeah but the F-15 is a whole different story
shaddowsword 2 years ago
I know but at the same time it shows its plausable for a plane to land, and not tip over or such on laning with only one wing. course again, wether or not this is true or not... different story... though theres a related story on redbulls page where the pilot of this aircraft was suspended because they state he chose to land a crippled aircraft risking spectators rather then ditching in the "crash zone" as is required. they don't say his wing fell off though in it
kitsychan 2 years ago
true true
shaddowsword 2 years ago
actually no... while yes, the left side does have more weight, the right wing is generating all the lift... so the play "lifts" twards the right, you see this same effect During the 2nd world war where bombers get their win shot off and all the lift shifts to the oposit wing, so the plane rolls towards the missing wing. Not saying the video is true or not... but saying that part is "technically correct" also you hear him firewall the engine using the engine itself to provide lift on landing.
kitsychan 2 years ago
OK, errrrrrrrr, but when the aircraft stopped it would not be creating lift in the serviceable wing so it would topple over, unless there wasn't enough weight in the remaining wing to allow this. Anyway, check the whole vid - you can see from the start of the point where the wing dropped off a load off electronic painting in of the background... Can you please tell me what ' firewalling the engine' means?? Thanks..
