Most cop shows are superficial, predictable, faux Hollywood garbage. You are always aware that they are TV shows. NYPD Blue put you -- front and center -- at the crime scenes, police station, streets, and everywhere else it artistically weaved its intricate web of believability. The line between reality and fiction was so artfully blurred that it confused our subconsciouses into believing the unreal. That was the brilliance of NYPD Blue. The directing/writing/acting mesmerized and legitimized.

Man do I miss this show!!!!!!! The fact that they have yet to put out seasons 5-12 on DVD ticks me off-If nothing else let's see an NYPD Blue & SOON!!!! After Blue went off the air had to find a new or current cop show to watch so to speak (not missing reruns of Blue of course-It is my all time favorite show)? So it's SVU & this past season I was loving it cuz Stabler was smacking guys around kinda like Andy but this season Stabler left SVU so were back to missing NYPD BLUE more & more everyday!

Sadly after it went off the air,I had to find a new cop show-NO SHOW WILL EVER BE BETTER THAN BLUE but Law & Order: SVU has become my 2nd fav. cops shows I think b/c some of the things remind me of Blue-This season on SVU Stabler's smacking guys around a lil' bit in interrogation kinda like Sipowicz use to but he ISN'T anywhere close to the GREATNESS or LEGACY of Sipowicz since we no longer have Andy smacking guys upside the head -GREAT 2 see someone doing it!

NYPD Blue is my favorite show & I think it had the GREATEST writters in t.v. history BUT for those as faithful to the show as I am/was you kinda wonder when Andy talks about the people he lost why didn't they have him mention Danny-YES Danny came after Bobby so that wouldn't have made the most sense but Andy put it like Bobby knew everything since he had passed away why wouldn't he know who Danny is? Danny was my least fav. of Andy's partners but as a loyal Blue fan I kinda wish they would have?

I believe even after his death years later he was still thinking about Bobby. I don't think he really connected with Danny or even John (for obvious reasons), which is why this scene also works for me.

If you watched NYPD Blue:A Final Tribute show which took a look at NYPD Blue over the years right before the final episode of Blue aired it was hosted by Jimmy Smits (Det.Bobby Simone) & he said on that, that when he left NYPD Blue it was the hardest thing he'd ever done but he never stopped being a fan. He was off doing different shows/movies when Diane's character was still on Blue?

Huge NYPD Blue fan from Scotland. On a recent trip to New York found the precinct "house" where the outside shots were filmed. My wife and I were the only "tourists" in the street but it was a highlight for us. Loved every episode but there is no doubt that the Andy-Bobby series were the absolute tops. They were brilliant together! Like others I'm annoyed that only 1-4 series have been released in UK>

I agree with everyone that posted here, BLUE has to be without a doubt the best TV show of all time bar none. I only watched a few episodes back in the day but now I have managed to get ahold of the entire 12 seasons and have watched it 2 complete times. David Caruso was great in the beginning but when Bobby Simone came along, the relationship and chemistry between he and Sipowicz was what made that show. Once Bobby died, it was never as good but i still love my NYPD Blue.

NYPD Blue has stood the test of time & remains pertinent because of the fine ensemble cast but especially thanks to the talent that is Dennis Franz - easily the best actor of this genre - & remember due to his groundbreaking portrayal of a law enforcement officer we have since been blessed with that other legend that is Vic Mackey in The Shield. Total Respect.

The more I see less and less entertaining shows on TV, the more I realize just how awesome this series truly was. I never saw the first 5 seasons but now have those in my possession and will do what I can to make sure I get the remaining seasons. This show had everything and take away all of the different female cops that appeared in the series, the acting, the reality and the stories will never be matched. I do love my BLUE.

Hi it is me.. Formerly TGAHFAN.. I sat through Hearts and souls and the one before that and I still cry... I am so glad that they allowed Smits back even as a ghost.. I wish that my friends and grandparents that were once here could visit me like that.. I love Bobby and Jimmy.. I think that Simone is his GREATEST ROLE....
