@lectodadragon lines are an illusion, if you practice painting things in real life (still using a tablet), that abilty will come with time and effort, GOOD LUCK!

@Fable369 this ones quite a bad one to do a tutorial of, since its a really simple method :P

basically its starting with a gradient fill, then using a standard Paint brush to fill in colours.

For texturing at the end, i took a Smudge tool with a hard round brush (the basic one) then in brush settings (F5 in photoshop) turned on scattering effects, then pretty much just brushed over where i wanted to look a bit scaly.
