Miranda Otto makes Eowyn so compelling & strong because she plays her as a woman. This isn't grrl power. This is the real thing. This a grown woman who is not wrapped up in vanity & selfishness. This is a woman of honor.
I love Miranda Otto- but she's just an actress. And why the stab at grrl power? I LOVE Eowyn, but her (and others) need for valor on the battlefield was not exactly motivated by lack of vanity or selflessness (as portrayed in the films), and that is not necessarily a bad thing regardless. All of us want or need recognition for our great deeds, not matter who we are- Eowyn included. Yes, Miranda & Eowyn are women of honor, but that does not make grrl power less honorable, vane, or selfish.
I spoke poorly. What I meant to say was that the Ms. Otto played Eowyn as a grown woman. Whatever fears and insecurities she projected were adult fears and insecurities. When you get older some pains dull put some fears become more intense. You lose things no matter how hard you try. Things break in ways that you can fix when you're young but not so much now. Otto's Eowyn is courageous because she knows what losing means & still she risks it.
LOL, I haven't put my eowyn video on youtube. But we started the very first 10 sec or so the same. lol. nicely down. Mine is way different then yours. :D
I don't like Eowyn (in the movie), but your video is really beautiful!!! Good work!
