My coins: A "mode confusion" situation when the computer system and the pilots have different understanding of the actual flight mode, e.g. landing/take off.
The "flight mode" was in "landing" when the aircraft fly by. Unfortunately the pilots were not aware of this, thus no pilot induced force/throttle was accepted by the flight system that would let the aircraft make a fly by and climb.
You can hear that the engines are resuming full trust right before the crash is a fact. Too late though.

There were no computer problems that led to the crash. The official report to Air France Flight 296 on Wikipedia states that the pilots caused the crash by flying too low, too slow, the engines at minimum idle flight power and late application of go-around power!

My coins: A "mode confusion" situation when the computer system and the pilots have different understanding of the actual flight mode, e.g. landing/take off.
The "flight mode" was in "landing" when the aircraft fly by. Unfortunately the pilots were not aware of this, thus no pilot induced force/throttle was accepted by the flight system that would let the aircraft make a fly by and climb.
You can hear that the engines are resuming full trust right before the crash is a fact. Too late though.

This flight WAS manned. It was on a demonstration run and the pilot was trying to impress his passengers, that was made up of news reporters and officials from both Air France and Airbus. The maneuver was supposed to show off the handling capabilities of the plane. However the pilot got it wrong i.e too low and too slow. The planes computer thought it was coming in for landing and when he tried to throttle up to avoid the trees there was no response. Google Air France flight 296. Three died.

There were no computer problems that led to the crash. The official report to Air France Flight 296 on Wikipedia states that the pilots caused the crash by flying too low, too slow, the engines at minimum idle flight power and late application of go-around power!
