more of a cowboy than ever, aint it great to watch James Taylor get older and sing such amazing songs and it's as if America flows through him like it does through John of Denver...
che stile fantastico con quella chitarra, mi piacerebbe avere tutte le sue più belle canzoni raccolte in un greatist hits come fanno i più grandi artisti come lui.
@leelovefi I know...saw him in concert last year with Carole King...it was magical...he looks and sounds the same. Carole was pretty awesome too. Hope ya get to see him soon. Peace friend.
If where you've been and what you've been through shapes you as a human being, then what James Taylor has been through added to his later success has honed him into a diamond of a man and a true musical genius. Stay well James and live long!
@MyEscopeta No doubt about that "a voice to die for." He has away of bringing piece to your entire being, everything is OK when James is singing. He makes you feel very blessed and grateful for all the simple things in life that don't cost a dime.
I didn't hear this the same until I saw this video. Check his face at time 2:15, then 2:45-3:00. He knows the pain of never finding the way back home, never finding that innocence and safety, "and the angels sigh". "I'm only living till the end of the week"..spooky.
James, James, James you light up my life with your music and it warms my soul. There is no-one to compare with you. You are still No 1 after all the years.
@bevil40 Hey thanks...............I don't usually post but when I heard 'Copperline' the years rolled back and for 4 minutes and 29 seconds, I was 19 or so again! Thanks again.............
This guy lives in one of the most perfect places in America: The Berkshires of Massachusetts. If you haven't been there, try a visit in Spring or late Fall (the latter, after the leaf peepers leave for NYC)
love this song.........James is just so great at everything he does, but this song..for some reason is my all time favorites, this and Carolina thanks
He's big enough to admit he's been at the top and the bottom, thats why he's a really good man. When did you ever hear of such a modest man being so talented. Wonderful songs with me throughout my life
Dublin concert this week was simply fantastic....did every hit song ..the voice was superb ..a truly awesome man who brings so much pleasure to people....kind too as he signed LP cover and my 12yr old daughters wrist JT and posed for a photo with her...she is totally hooked..a true legend ..a master craftsman so professional..and in touch with his fans..they were dancing in the aisles at the end ...it was awesome .just a superb night .and a night myself and my family will never ever forget
I've been a fan since his very first release, I even have the Flying Machine album, I've seen him live at least 5 times over the years and he has only gotten better and better. He is superb singer, songwriter and guitar player. Sweet baby James will always be at the top of my list. I used to play Close Your Eyes as a lullabye for my daughter, the circle was complete when I took her to see him live in '94. Bless you JT for being the sound track of my life. xoxox
there was a really great version of this tune that he does with a bluegrass band and I cant find it anymore,,,,I dont remember who the others were-- if it was a band or not but it was a really good version--anyone know what happened to it? Could you out it back up maybe?
The Isle of Skye's just brilliant I think, think allot of it has to be with beloved regards to Runrig and my lifelong idol Malcolm Jones, one hell of a good Celtic rock guitarist.
Unfortunately Mal (who I have met 5 times now), remembers me in fact, always asks how my playing is going, how genuine is that?
But James is just simply amazing, I mean he (like I said previously), there's just something there that you don't get with all the rubbish out in pop.
@samverquo Ah rephrase that please, he's the legend of Easy Listening.
Can't put it into words how good this man really is, when ever I want to chill out and really listen to some good music, James Taylor is always the man I listen to, I am very proud to say that too.
@Zona57Bob His voice is just simply one of the best, when ever I want to truly chill out.
It's like no ones ever once tried to copy him, he's incredibly unique, his own songs are just incredible, this being my favourite of his self penned stuff.
That is why the band I am in a celtic rock band I am, we play his live stuff on the PA before playing ourselves, really chills me out.
@samverquo I have been listening to this live on a CD he did for a while now.
But to actually see his facial expressions is just amazing, really does mean something to him, it's all good.
Somehow reminds me of The Isle of Skye in Scotland, I mean it's not like I have lived there but been there more than any other place in the world for holidays, just in love with the place.
what does your race have to do with this, taylor is an english name and i'm french now there is some old time hate, i'm franco american and i like jt, sounds kinda shitty racist. LOL love you rozberry
I am an African-American woman and I have been a fan of James Taylor ever since I was a teenager. He has always had such a "soulful" sound that to me speaks to everyone. My husband and I have seen him in concert twice here in Milwaukee Wisconsin. I wish he would come this way again.
Me and my love went down on time, looking for that loving time. Just to lovers lost in time, but still in love in most of the time. Years ago but still in love, we sometime feel loost in life.
as i commented elsewhere, i used to wade Morgan Creek in Chapel Hill, NC, fishing for largemouth bass; catch and release always. His dad was Dean of Medicine at the university there.
Blessings to you and all who are touched by your presence.
i love the fact that James Taylor is still singing despite his age and i still disregard all the people saying its country when they never heard of soft rock
@abw1196 I agree, if I understand your comment, 'bout "country and soft rock." Just different genres 'n words open to interpretation. By the way, I will be turning sixty-five next week. I hope that I will still be allowed to hum.
jdclampet347, I concour. Music touches us all in various ways without the artist even being aware of it's immense effect upon us. Sad in one way, no direct relationship, that's why the music is such a treasure. Seen him multiple times in concert in Texas and Maryland, watched multiple videos of him in live performance and treasure my double CD of his live concerts while on tour and play it while traveling in my truck or car. He is so mellow and life living in his lyrics and delivery.
born in 69, heard some of james taylor stuff on the radio without paying too much attention over the years. i've really been enjoying his music on utube this last year however, especially these recently recorded ones.
Beloved and prolific author and professor at Duke University for 50 years, Reynolds Price, wrote the lyrics to "Copperline." Dr. Price and James Taylor were friends.
dont u say that cuz i guarentee u cant sing, its like saying hey u cant do a backflip and they say well neither can u, how many songs have u made thats right probably 0 so dont say anything cuz hes better than u
This performance is kind of the definitive version of this song for me. Watching it completely renewed my interest in James Taylor after a long absence. There is an honesty and bittersweetness that I hadn't really seen before in his performances.
James Taylor, you are my music hero! I've always loved your music. I used to play my guitar to your music. I would stand in front of my mirror pretending i was playing in front of an audience. LOL! I was only 12 years old. Today, I still play my guitar to your music. Once in a while I still pretend I am playing in front of an audience. I am only 50! Love ya man. And you don't even know me. Funny how music works.
JT is the man, and I wish someone could come along to replace him when he's gone, but I seriously doubt anyone will be able to fill his shoes. Amazing ability.
James Taylor is one of the most amazing artists out there. I am so thankful to be named after him. (Yes, I really am.) His song, "There We Are" is so beautiful. It made me cry the first time I heard it. James Taylor, you are my inspiration.
I first heard this song on the Howard Stern show and it's pretty amazing. I'm always surprised how much great music I've heard on Stern. Cyndi Lauper doing 'True Colors', Aerosmith doing 'Pink', Paul Anka doing 'Smells Like Teen Spirit', etc etc.
Hes still a youngster man is he damn good. Does anyone know if he is tuned down a half step for this. I am a novice at best but i always loved this song and want to learn it bad Milan276
he's the coolest geriatric around. and he manages to sing despite his dentures caroming off his tongue and gums. i doubt i could even still play guitar at his age.
Saw him live in Richmond a couple of years ago - amazing energy and sound! Great performer and truly a master of finger style guitar. His sound is so recognizable and unique to him.
soundtrack to my life....thank you JT.

Cyndi Lauper doing 'True Colors', Aerosmith doing 'Pink', Paul Anka doing 'Smells Like Teen Spirit', etc etc.

he's the coolest geriatric around. and he manages to sing despite his dentures caroming off his tongue and gums. i doubt i could even still play guitar at his age.

does he ever miss a note vocally? i don't think i've ever heard him hit one sour note. i mean, he stays within a small-medium range, but still..

Empty Grey Houses
When I looked beyond the empty grey houses
smoking in the distance I realized
that the conflict would never end
unless I was willing to end it myself

Saw him live in Richmond a couple of years ago - amazing energy and sound! Great performer and truly a master of finger style guitar. His sound is so recognizable and unique to him.
