  • I have to admit, always enjoyed rock, never thought I would enjoy a rock as well as soft, as has weezer.

  • Good song.

  • Thought I knew you better then, thought I knew your intentions...(8)

  • What does the first 7 sec's of this guitar lick sound like? It's killin me.

  • I love Brian!!!!!! in a homo way.

  • I love how they all rotate instruments :D

  • anyone think its... odd seeing brian on vocals, pat on guitar, and rivers on drums? not saying its bad (i do in fact enjoy this song), it just is really different

  • I love Brian!!!!!!! in an non-homo way.

  • Sass Master!

  • SASS MASTER!

  • SASS MASTER!

  • is that rivers on drums?

  • Brian singing and Pat on lead guitar, this is what I love about Weezer - always looking for ways to increase their versatility!

  • love this song......even though it reminds me of my ex-husband :)

  • Rivers on drums = epic WIN!!! :D

  • thought i knew, but didn't have a clue... not a simple damn thing was true.

    great song WEEZER!

  • The sass Master is singin away.

  • one of my all time favorite Weezer songs. Brian Bell's a beast! love him♥

  • love this song

  • Whoa, guitarist sings?

  • @ntwiles

Tracks 7, 8, and 9 on The Red Album are sung by other band members, not Rivers. Brian has "Thought I Knew", Scott has "Cold Dark World", and Pat has "Automatic".

  • @ntwiles He sings backing vox on virtually every song, and he's as much the "guitar player" as Rivers is, considering he only plays the rhythm and Rivers doubles most all the rhythm and plays the lead parts.

  • @emixolydian

I don't understand what you're saying. Your message is hard to understand. Are you saying Rivers is better because he plays lead? Lol....

Weezer leads are extremely easy to play. Patrick plays them with ease and Brian Bell could as well. Just because he doesn't play them live doesn't mean he can't.

  • @Gay4Ray I'm saying calling Brian the "guitar player" doesn't really make any sense, and doesn't make any clear distinction between anybody in the band.

And, no, Brian couldn't play most of the Weezer solos and, neither could pat. I know they're really easy, that's why I'm sure you'll be obliged to fulfill my request of posting covers of these solos: Tired of Sex, Dopenose, Falling For You, Tripping Down the Freeway

  • @emixolydian Uh, you aware that Rivers hasn't been playing guitar much live lately, with Pat and Brian doing all the solos he used to play and doing a pretty damn good job at it? No need to discredit them just because they didn't have a Zoom/Avant Garde like wankoff guitar band prior to Weezer - they're both great guitarists, and the entire band are really gifted musicians.

  • @runnersdialzero333 not true, on both counts.

  • @emixolydian What are you talking about, "not true"?

  • @Gay4Ray And, no, I don't think Rivers is better because he plays lead, but he is, in fact, a much better guitarist and musician.

Since you're an authentic Weezer fan I'm sure you've heard Rivers' old hairmetal bands like Zoom and Avant Garde, and you clearly are fully aware of Rivers' proficiency on the guitar, and cognisant of the fact that it exceeds, technically far beyond, anything he bothers to put on most of Weezer's discography.

  • so glad rivers shaved off the mustache

  • @girlwithabook

me too; Rivers makes a cute nerd, so his cowboy phase isn't really my thing...(I mean, just look at him in the video for "Hash Pipe"!!!)

  • Love this one and love you Weezer!

  • Reminds me of the country-ish side of Elvis Costello. Iunno why this wasn't on Red instead of the corny synth version.

  • sound like beatles would write before taking lsd. but of course they would make it better

  • very cool song, great version!!

  • brian is my favorite weezer

    love this song

  • i love the lyrics!!!

    i love weezer!!!

  • Isn't Brian from Knoxville or something? I can really hear the Southern-ness in the way he sings. It's very refreshing.

And yeah, this album isn't Weezer at their best, but this is still a fairly good song.

  • Iowa.

  • You're right, but I personally like how the other band members got to sing their own songs. It's great. Although I wish I knew what Rivers would sound like singing this

  • It all depends on your taste. I think it was crazy original.

  • this version is cool but I think I've listened to the album version so many times i like the vocals better there. both good though. brians voice is great

  • this is definitely one of the top songs on the red album, I'm surprised its not more popular

  • can't believe this version isnt on the album

  • They clean up pretty well....hehe.

  • should have been this version on the album.

  • This is like a dozen times better than the album version!!!!

  • this song is lovely. & brian is amazing.

  • not my fav song but a very cool performance and vid!!!

  • I really love this song. I thought it should have been the 3rd single from the red album. Note Rivers on drums and Patrick Wilson on electric guitar.

  • is this a music video?

  • I love this song, a very 1999 superdrag feel

  • Brian is the man

  • you are the faggot. brian powns you.

  • Pat's a better guitarist than he is a drummer.

  • Wow, that is very disrespectful to his awesome drum work. I really don't enjoy his style of guitaring in Weezer at all. Rivers is a much better guitarist IMO.

  • Brian is the SASS MASTER!!!!!!!!!!!

    amazing!

  • I don't really think Coldplay are all that great.

  • Dylan,If not for you intro?

  • Comment removed

  • Brian Bell is very cute, is a good singer and is one of the best guitarrist in the Rock music

him band is really good, they called The Relationship

  • my physics teacher is there, dancing. What a slut.

  • @DDAVVIIDD1

you should be proud of your physics teacher's versatility.

  • I was surprised to see the contra dancing! It's so weird to recognize all of the stuff they're doing...

Anyways, this is an amazing song, go Weezer!

  • kind of sounds like Tom Petty, but better.

  • haha fer sure...check out It's Easy...he sounds like petty there too...but i agree its better

  • Brians voice is deep. thats what i like about his singing

  • =w=

  • wow patricks pretty good at guitar check out those harmonics! wonder if thats him on the album...

  • Yeah, he's really good. Check out his own band, "The Special Goodness" - they are rockin, and he can sling a guitar and sing quite well.

  • yeah, he's pretty damn amazing, but you don't see too often

  • i knowpats awsome whatch him do the we will rock u solo on "photograhp live pat on vocals"

  • they're badass for sure.

  • woah cuomo is on drums!

  • this is one of the bests music of the red album!

  • i dont think the red album was their best one

but i definitely think it showed weezers versatility the best. it makes it more enjoyable for me.

  • i agree

i like pinkerton and the blue elbum

  • wow.

i love how all the band members took a turn singing like Brian here ; and than Pat in automatic. They both have a cool tone to their voice . I really love this song . its so funny to see Rivers drumming tho. he looked like he was concentrating some hard. <333

  • I love when Brian sings because he has a calm soothing tone. and Weezer just rocks!!

  • Oh man I love this song.

  • was going through a bad part of my marriage when this came out and it fit perfectly. I think he does a great job. Love the square dancers!

  • i dig this

  • i Just think this song is deppressing and it makes me think alot.jz

  • the red album

  • what effect is the electric guitar using???

  • the weezer effect.

  • Distortion/Overdrive.

  • thats really weird i thought scott shriner sang this song

  • =w=Rivers marry me please =w=

  • lol looks like patricks having a hard time on the guitar

  • If by "hard time" you mean shredding, then I agree.

  • mhmm exactly

  • I think this is a pretty good song.

  • LOLLLLLLLL Rivers is playing drums thats awesome

  • plspls come to tokyo again by spring!!

    ¸¨°º¤ø„¸¸„ø¤º°¸„ø¤º°¨

    ¸„ø¤ „ø¤º°¨¨°º¤ø„¨°º¤ø

    kisses!!!!

  • love this

  • OMG i love this song and personally i thikn weezer rocks a people are way to harsh like alwasy calling them gay and that they suck WEEZER ROCKS

  • Brian has a similar look to Alex James of Blur, not Damon Albarn! Brian is excellent! And also incredibly easy on the eye. Love him!

  • I actually meant his voice, when I first heard the song, without knowing that it was Weezer.

  • in the weezer top ten prolly top 5

  • hahaha, I don't think the song is bad but seriously it's nowhere in the top 5, not even the top 10. Not even the top 20.

  • is it just me or does brian's voice in the song sound just a little bit like gilby clarke.

  • I thought it was Damon Albarn at first, for some reason. Feel like a fool now.

  • "thought i knew but i didn't clue not a single damn thing was true" brilliant.

  • superb !! if you don't like this ...Kill youre self!!

  • LOVE this song! Weezer Rocks

  • this is a good song not the best but still a good one

  • ego? for a great song?

  • I love this song, it totally paints the picture of my ex girlfriend. They can be so cold and heartless, this song is like my soul lamenting lol

  • dude same here, this song is pretty much what happened to me and my girlfriend

  • Yeah man.I know what you mean.I thought this girl I was seeing was such a sweetheart and then she just coldy dropped me and said move on.Cold and heartless.

  • damn, dude!

    same shit happend to me...

    it sucks

  • doubt either of you guys have had a chick use you to get to your older brother.

  • yea yea the greatest man song is whey better but i love that guys voice there. Ah im so happy if i may suggest u listen to the first video under related videos there its so fucking baddass.

  • best song on the album clearly. and the greatest man and the weight.

  • This is gonna be the official video?? or is just a promo that MTV made for the artist of the week?

Damn, in MTV Latinamerica there's something similar with the artists of the week. Last one was Vampire Weekend (today is 9/01)...and the Artist of August was Coldplay ¬¬

  • this is awesome

  • thats wierd how rivers is playing drums, and patricks playing guitar

  • yeah, I surprised to see its pat doing the leads. Hes a damn good guitarist for a drummer.

  • OMG!, this is too damn awsome

  • this songs kind of growing on me

  • me too, didn't like it at first but now i think this is one of the best songs on the album

  • ditto. totally didn't like it at first but now I find its in my head...

  • what ever happened to bell and the space twins project??

  • Lol at Rivers at Drums and Pat at Guitar.

  • I always liked Brian Bell, but after listening to The Red Album, I like his guitaring and singing much more.

  • great song...i think its up there with greatest man...no where near pork and beans haha but very good.

  • what the hell are you talking about!?

  • in the vid. it shows brian singing the song...

but they have an ex-band member sing.

lol, idk why my last comment was spammed.

  • Um, no. Brian's the only one who sings this song. In fact, he wrote the song, so it's hard to debate.

  • your a fucking idiot this is brian

  • AHA

  • If you're talking about the Relationship, Brian Bell's the lead singer of that band too. He specifically wrote the song for that band but also decided to put it on the Red Album with a tempo boost and a change from minor key to major key.

    Nobody else sings this song.

  • wtf is rivers playing?

  • It's a magical instrument called the "Drums".

  • ya, hes playing drums. and pat on guitar. i lvoe when they switch.

  • yeah asshole, I meant the weird maracca thing he's playing.

  • He's still playing drums...

  • This version is 100x better than the album version... sounds like something that could have been on Rubber Soul... is that blasphemy?

  • brian is a cool dude...who wouldn't want him as a best bro...pat's guitar is etherial and ominous sounding, way to go pat...and rivers on the drums, so cool!

  • this song is amazing!!! i love brians voice and i love the way he moves his head when he sings lol :)

  • Wait, so is this the official video of the song?

  • well there technically isnt one so this is it

  • WHY DO MOSTLY ALL THE WEEZER FANS HATE THIS SONG? THIS SONG IS AWESOME, AND SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A CLASSIC. THEY CAll THEMSEVLES "WEEZER FANS" BUT YOU CAN'T BE A FAN IF YOU DON"T LIKE THIS SONG

  • No retard. People are allowed to have their opinions. It's called personal taste, ever heard of it?

What a stupid comment. I agree with you, the song rules, but if someone doesn't like it that doesn't make them less of a fan.

  • amen brotha

  • LOL @ MS.SORK in blue dress

  • I don't like the album version of this song that much, but I love this live version.

  • awesome song i lstend to it like 5 times in a row

  • brian looks like johnny rivers

  • lol, all rhythm guitarists look the same and sound the same when they sing and write songs.

  • This is one of my fav songs on the Red album. But for some reason brians voice sounds a little different live. Like i know its enhanced on the record lol bu ti mean it just doesnt sound like it does atall on the record. W/e good song noone the less.

  • where is rivers?

  • playing the drums..

  • oh i see him now thanks!

  • This looks like a good live song

  • I love this song now. Video reminds me of "king of the Rodeo"

  • Looks like the "Island In The Sun" video after party.

  • Do you have a time machine?

  • dude pinkerton was then, you can't dwell only on that album forever, yes it was fantastic in its sincerity but you have to realize that they grew up and are parents now and what not, now i do have to agree that the Red Album and Make Believe were very mainstream, but that was the fault of the producer, Rick Rubin. So if anything blame him, not Weezer.

  • This is right out the 90s to me. Its pretty good. but its the Replacement not Weezer.

  • Brian Bell could sass is way out of a nuclear reactor.

  • Brian Bell is the Sassiest Man That Ever Lived!

  • Very cool that the guys are wearing suits and ties in the video.

  • this is a great song. nice change! good lyrics =w=

  • This footage is devastatingly awesome, and should make anyone appreciate Thought I Knew even if they aren't crazy about the album version.

Brian sounds great, looking cute and sasstastic as always, Rovers is on drums, Scott singing the "ahhs" - what's not to love? And the square dancing in the background brings to mind the Buddy Holly video. Good vibes all over the place.

  • i love this song so much, red alumb kicks ass!!!

    =W=

  • sounds like an american damon albarn

  • holy shit you're right!

  • Sassmaster! Good song. Much better than CDW, but not King.

    p.s. =w= rules!

  • what an underrated tune. its actually pretty solid and its got a nice bump going to it. brian is the most underrated part of weezer imo.

  • brian reminds me of jim carrey

  • a mix between Jim Carrey and George Harrison :)
