For Win 7 users, If you updated, to get to a previous version just go to C:\Users\[yourname]\AppData\Ro­aming\.minecraft right click the bin folder, click properties then go to the tab that says Previous Versions and restore it to one in the last few weeks

Also they can't update until bukkit and at least Towny update, or all towns would be griefed.
