@Toddbutcher formal training is the way to go. classical guitar courses will allow you to rock like a god. She is obviously a college trained guitarist. no doubt in my mind. I played drums for thirty years and the difference between formal trained and guitarists that learned by ear is worlds apart. what takes a dedicated ear learner five years to learn, can be learned in class in six months. Ive seen it. Hope this helps.
