  • Wtf! Why are there such shit spamming top comments on such a legendary video!

  • This video is so addictive.... The day one man played 11 and won.

  • Maaaaaan, I CANNOT stop coming back to this video every couple of weeks to hear Motty scream, "BECKHAAAAAAAAAAAM" and then to hear the crowd roar. I must have accounted for at least half of the views that this video has had in total - yet STILL it sends shivers down my spine and leaves me with a massive grin on my face, whilst punching the air with my fist; every time I watch it. What a beauty,..

  • The most famous Beckham free kick ever!

  • loooool

  • This is the greatest goal of all time!

  • Thumbs up if you were watching in a pub and remember that moment of silence, as the ball flew through the air, then that moment of complete disbelief.

  • epic

  • 200 people are Greece fans...

  • It's as if the angels, heavens and gods had set up the stage for Greece to lead 1-2 until the 93rd minute and placed the spotlight on a scrutanized, battered and emotionally attacked Beckham to redeem himself in the eyes of not only the England fans, but the world.

  • 1 word. MENTAL,

he is the only guy that you would bet your house for free kick

  • commentators r proper shit

  • The bad day of my life, when this legend retires!!

  • memories....what a fucking day that was. fucking legend.

  • @whoryare lets face it, your not greek

  • @dumfries93 i am, but i live in australia. i was born here and everything, i just like this goal cos of everything that happened (beckham relationship with the public) and the way the game panned out (he carried england the whole game). but i dislike it cos it was against greece

  • beckham.....YES,YES, HE HAS DONE IT FANTASTIC

  • "beckham........YES,YES, HES DONE IT...FANTASTIC"

  • my chills got chills

  • I still get chills looking at beckham's freekick taken at Old Trafford. Just class.

  • Comment removed

  • I was just looking at Scholes and Beckham and thinking to myself 'how did this England team not win any trophies?'... and then Emile Heskey walked in front of the camera.

  • @thisnotmyname Heskey had nothing to do with England not winning a trophy, we still had the prolific Michael Owen who was one of the best young strikers in the world at that time. If anything, Heskey complimented Owen very well.

  • @thisnotmyname hahahahahha

  • Even the poor quality can't spoil the moment

  • dont be haters english people. We greeks have won the european championship in the past, what have you got? A world cup back in the 60's? Englishmen my foot...

  • @Alex1tmacthebestnba you're embarrassing yourself

  • 198 was from greece

  • 197 people are from Greece

  • @MrPranke FUCK you. It was never a foul you english fag bitch

  • @MrPranke And that makes 3206 Beckham accounts right?

  • apparently there are 197 Welsh members of the youtube community .....

  • i used to love the circle that used to come up when beckham played

  • watched this about 50 times over and over again

gave me goosebumps and a sense of national pride time and time again

absolutely love it - would've loved to be at that match

  • @Joshfc123 i couldnt agree with you more mate its just as good as it gets in footnall lol. i think if there is such a better goal than this, it would have to be from god. :)

  • @olliepieng8 *football

  • if I had 1000 thumbs, I would vote for Beckham :)))) and to hell all those who say he's a sheet, the sheet couldn't do all those kicks that this man did for MU, England and for the world football history!

  • WHATSOEVER BUT THERE IS NO ONE WHO HAVE SCORED A FREE KICK LIKE DWAYNE ROSARIO.....

  • There is a reason there is a phrase bend it like beckham :P epic man a true legend

  • forget its Beckham, forget its for England, forget whether the free kick award was correct or not, you won't see many free kicks ever beat that for sheer skill and class.

  • @MrKrakilsk , that's not the point, there was no foul you idiot lol

  • In pub with mates, beckham swings it in to take us to the world cup, GOOD TIMES.

  • alot of teams have won and didnt deserve the win. THATS WHAT FOOTBALL IS. it don't matter if you deserve it or not... its whoever puts the ball in the back of the net the most. end of discussion. great freekick, great memory and BECKHAM deserved that freekick after all the hard work he had put it. The freekick was actualy given as the ref failed to give a succession of fouls in the previous 25 minutes. Greece = PONY nation, in debt, sweaty fat women and shit footballing league / history.

  • @skidillydoo86 Lolwut.

Greece = warm climate, beautiful women, amazing food, nice people & hospitality

England = such a depressed nation, 6/10 of its inhabitants wanted to flee to other European countries

But hey, what can you expect when the national dish of England is Chicken Tikka Masala.

    Bwahaha.

  • @Malk64 "But hey, what can you expect when the national dish of England is Chicken Tikka Masala."

Don't go to England often do you.

  • @Malk64 Greece = Fucked up economy who is begging the EU every few months for money

    Still a great country?

  • @Jamster946 Yes, seeing as I have lived in both.

  • @Jamster946 You stole marbles, even whole words from this country so I guess that makes you worse. Greece throughout history displayed unsurpassed dignity. If you judge by the governors then it's safe to say UK is gay.

  • @skidillydoo86 Greece are a phony nation!!!!. They fucking destroyed the Persian Empire who were one of the largest and most powerful civilizations, ever more powerful than the Romans, that is extreemly impressive, The greeks were powerful and wealthy and still are, stop being an idiot.

  • @NANOFORGE usa is more powerful than anyone

  • @giantsyankees123 The USA is just a vunerable as everyone else, 911 proved that they are not as untouchable as they once thought. I don't suppose you have ever heard of stealth missles and weapons or gruellia warfare, people who use such things will batter anyone.

  • greece deserved to win... england didn't deserve the free kick because there was no foul, the ref probably just wanted england to win

  • @CashSmeller yeah the ref was confident that beckham, after running his socks of, would smash the ball in the top corner. after all it was just in the 93minute, whole of england and more watching. totally expected that. no pressure at all. happens all the time.

  • how the fuck can anyone dislike this??????!!

  • And almost one decade after this match and this fantastic free-kick what do we got?

Greece European Champion in 2004!!!!..... and England?

    ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!!!!! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Isn't football ironic?

  • @tigerman3012 Fuck off you Greek piece of shit. Your football is absolute shit compared to England. WE got Wayne Rooney, John Terry, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard. Incredible young players aswell, Jack Wilshere, Connor Wickham, Chris Smalling. Stop living in the past you Greek prick. Where are Greece rated in the world?

  • @DownwardGoose

AHAHAH, I'm not Greek!!!! I'm Portuguese!!!! And it is your football that is shit compared to Portugal, that have been beating England for 4 times in the last 40 YEARS!!!!!!!

    AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

  • @tigerman3012 Then why do you care what Greece win? Just 'cause you hate England? And by the way, your BIGGEST star and best ever player, a certain mr Ronaldo, was trained in England and became the best player in the world. So fuck off. And football in Portugal is shit anyway.

  • @DownwardGoose

Relax.... Portuguese football is shit, but again, this shitty football can beat England anytime....

    AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

  • @DownwardGoose

And another thing, Ronaldo wasn't trained in England, he was trained in Sporting Lisbon...

  • @tigerman3012 Ronaldo was not great playing for Sporting Lisbon, it was Sir Alex who coached him to be the best footballer in the world. Before he moved to Man U he was nothing. BEST, BECKHAM, CANTONA, RONALDO. Why are they all from Manchester United and why do they wear No 7? I cannot think of one good player who was famous from Shitty Sporting Lisbon. Manchester turns good players into Great players. This is why Manchester can win the champions league and why Sporting wins fuck all (nothing).

  • i love the john motson reaction on this.

  • when did everyone on youtube turn into thumbs up seeking slut mongers??

  • Wow.. watched it for 938 times and still gives me goosebumps..

  • And that was the last time i can remember feeling im proud to be an England football fan!

  • "everyone bar the greece supporters praying for a goal" yeah i'm sure the germans and argies would have loved it if we scored.

  • GIVE THAT MAN A KNIGHTHOOD

  • Made me proud to be English on that day on that moment :D

  • now THATS the way to send your team to the WC, and beeing captain as well. I'd just retire after that.

  • And the story ends with he's being sold to La Galaxy

    FINISH!

  • Beck ham blow the roof off

  • if you watch again, the crowd goes mental, the supporters go mental, the commentator goes mental... but some of the England players seem like "big deal" !

  • Great commentary from Motson

  • 195 grecees disliked this vid

  • @KingStyler51 196 with me.

  • Damn straight he nearly did play Greece on his own that day-best performance of a single player Ive ever seen

  • why on earth is the wall there

  • THat was no doubt the most memorable football match I ever watched ... whole town just errupted simultaneously! Priceless

  • I've never seen a free kick taken with such elegance and perfection under the most pressurised scenarios. The way he strode up to that ball. The way how he hit the sweet spot on the ball. The vicious curl on it's way to the net. Even as a Scotsman that was something to watch. An absolutely sublime goal.

  • Football is the real sport in this world...nothing is more emotional than football!

just amazing! thumbs up if you think the same thing.

  • @007agon THE FOOTBAL IS BLACK MONEY IN ENGLAND

  • @007agon That's because goals are much harder to score in football then any other sport.

  • @007agon I find the NBA just as amazing, just like american football, the NFL, Baseball, the UFC....but then again, thats just my opinion.

  • @Aightnigguh8D i like them all too and i play them but soccer if my favourite sport

  • @007agon I like football but I also like other sports. I don't think it's fair to say it's the real sport. It's the most popular sport by far but not the only real sport. What a goal by the way.

  • @007agon Fuck you!

  • @BenNevisable um, go fuck your self dude cuz what i said was my oppinion and, 48 other people agreed and i didnt fucking call other sports gay u dumbass! i play baseball, football, soccer, and basketball and IN MY FUCKING OPPINION, i think soccer is the best sport!! so again,go fuck your self!

  • @007agon

Somewhat agree, but every time I see Johnny Wilkinson kick that winning drop goal...

  • beckham is the dude

  • to score such an important goal in the last minute & then celebrate in front of thousands of screaming england supporters is just truely epic, really it is!

  • kai to mouni ths mana sou poustraki

  • A free kick took us to the World Cup and it was a free kick that took us out of the World Cup. Like this if ya'know what im sayyen?

  • This goal led england to 2002 wc. Then came Ronaldinho

  • beckham looks better when he had the long hair

  • FAKE AND GAY!

  • @youarecool648 Fake? Are you a moron? I watched the match. Half the population in England were screaming when it went in.. Why do foreign people watch England goals? Gets on my proud, British titties.

  • @wiganKiss mate he's joking. calm down

  • beckham never fail in free kick .!

  • That a big number 7 on the back of his shirt !!

SHOW IT FUCKING SHOULD BE !!!!!

  • Easily one of the great moments in english football...

  • EPIC! In Minute 93' a goal like this, when you lay back.... Just awesome^^

  • As pathetic as Greece is,atleast they've won an important trophy in recent history,Euro 04 & they beat 2 teams which whooped England in that tourney,Portugal & France. England still talk bout 1966 like its ystrdy. And they cheated their way 2 dat fake home victory,so unimpressive. England is the worst futbal team ever

  • @ihatewestlifesince99 lol why u so mad tho?

  • @ihatewestlifesince99 "which whooped england in that tourney" actually france came back very fortunately to win 2-1 in the last minutes and then portugal beat us on penalties. Are you that retarted, you actually think that means they "whooped" us? idiot.

  • Its sad that this is one of the best moments England have had of very recent times. The new generation have a chance unless they become overpayed bastards like some of those playing now.

  • Everyone of that Greek team disliked that vid 192 times.

  • I was born in Scotland, and have lived here for almost twenty three years, but I'm forever in awe when I see this goal!

  • legendd! stuff,hero stuff!

  • his height isnt long.but long show in tv.because his head is very very small.he isnt 180 cm and 75 kg.this is big hollow.he is petite.

  • Don't care what people say about Beckham, he is a legend!

  • Remember, in my mates living room, i was 8, we was on the edge of the couch, with our fingers crossed, it was a sunny day, i live 12 miles from Old Trafford, we couldn't get tickets to the game,

Beckham takes the freekick, Beckham scores,

me and my mates start running around and we went outside to act the freekick out,

yes i remember this day like if it was yesterday :)

  • Captain's Example

    Thank You Beckham!

  • Beckham's effort was good, his positional play was abysmal. The team was poor, but, I repeat, there was no shape. BECKHAM took our centre out the game. He was supposed to play as a right midfielder, but didn't. Beckham's NEVER, at any time, been england's best player. Had beckham kept the shape (basic tactics), who knows how the team could have performed. I suspect gerrard and scholes would have got more involved. and yes at that time from 30-35 yd gerrard was better suited to taking free kicks

  • @mahoolahoo Beckham isn't a winger. He can't dribble. He made his name as a RM, but always wanted to play CM. His lack of discipline means he hits long balls rather than crossing. If you're CM, you want ball to feet, and you want movement from forwards and wide men to give you options as a playmaker to get a ball in final third. If your RM is spraying long balls to forwards(CM job) 2 things happen: 1. CMs not getting the ball (balls over their heads) 2. your RM is now not in the final third.

  • @mahoolahoo Both things destroy team shape. He got away with it because he was the media darling, still is. But he has always been criticised for footballing faultsl. Beckhams best moments didn't come at CM. There were better CMs at every team he played for.

Best free kick taker from 20-25 yds. Great crosser. If he was a one-trick pony, everybody would see how limited he was. Lucky for him, he was a two trick pony. To be fair (and this isn't down to luck) he was world class at those two tricks.

  • @mahoolahoo

LOL you wish you could play like Beckham, shut the hell up man.

  • @T1memaster I don't see how that's relevant to anything i've said. I'm not good enough to play like Beckham. I couldn't put the necessary amount of hours in to be that good.

My point here is that no matter how good an individual performance, if it detracts from the team performance then it is strange to praise that individual as the saviour of the "poor" team.

The reason most people rate Messi over Ronaldo is that Messi plays for the team, Ronaldo plays for himself. Team is more important.

  • @mahoolahoo thank god your not a manager.

  • @FlapJack2206 Why? Why haven't you addressed any of my tactical points? I'd have told beckham to stay on the right, give the CMs options, and put in crosses from the corner touch lines. Like Giggs does. We'd have won by loads! ;) Beckham instead wandered everywhere, took away options from the team, and delivered balls from deep. Are these not facts? Or do you disagree with the implications of these facts? These are the only two reasons as to why i'm not right with my conclusions.

  • @mahoolahoo haha fair enough man you have your opinion.. i have mine.. beckham did usually play the way you think he should have played in this game.. but IMO it was a crucial game and i would have taken result over performance and for that reason i didnt care about the midfield structure... beckham got us the result not gerrard or scholes... whether or not this was beckhams fault or not he still rose to the occasion when no one else even looked like doing.

  • @FlapJack2206 Well exactly, I was as happy as anyone when this went in. Gerrard and Scholes had no effect on the game. I'm certain that was down to structure. Nobody's denying that was a crucial goal. My only point was that I don't like Beckham being praised and the rest of the team being slagged off for this performance. We got lucky. Regardless of whether we won that game or not, England are destined to failure while tactical flaws exist.

  • @mahoolahoo I just see things in games and it annoys me when people overlook them. Recently I was annoyed at the Barca 5 real 0 game. The commentator, and subsequent analysts said barca were too good and real could do nothing. Not true. Real could not even do the basics, passing out of play under no pressure etc. They could have tried to keep the ball a little more. Yes Barca were good, but Real were bad also. The analysts liked to focus on Barca tactics rather than Reals.

  • @mahoolahoo Pundits are just lazy now, offerring nothing but cliches and platitutdes. If you want to know what I mean, just listen to Lawrenson or Shearer, or Colleymore, or Redknapp. Absolute garbage. It's all just media soundbites. I watched MOTD2 last season, when Hansen and Bilic were pundits. It was amazing. Pure tactics, insightful analysis and no cliches.

The media is too pro-Beckham. He's never been the best footballer for England. Beckham should not be above criticism. The end. ;)

  • @mahoolahoo no-one claims that beckham was the best footballer england have had. hes just a true professional, with determination and incredible raw talent. these things, along with his professionalism and modesty off the pitch, have made him a great ambassador for england.

  • @coolguy8382002 well, i kind of agree with what you're saying. A lot of that is media generated though. He's a top athlete. But don't forget ferguson didn't approve of the effect of his high profile on his game. I was objecting to people implying that he WAS the best england player (in this game). I don't think Beckham should ever have been england captain. The triumph of style over substance that he embodies is endemic of the malaise of englands "golden generation."

  • lol @ shit keeper

  • if the keeper wasnt so shit he wud sav that
