  • This is superb. I've come across this so many times. Totally rocks my socks off each time :)

  • Yep, still in love with this.

  • Tori would love this.

  • Love it, love it, love it!!!

  • PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do a cover of Tori Amos' "Playboy Mommy"....I know it would sound truly amazing....PLEASE...IM BEGGING!!!!!

  • This is the best amos cover I have ever heard. You should have a million views. Try your darndest to have Tori listen. You are the kind of artist she needs for an opening act...hopefully then to become a collaborator.

  • @jsensation1 How could we get Tori to listen to this?

  • @zosoyyy This was at a Tori Amos tribute show for RAINN. Tori probably has seen it.

  • @jsensation1 If everyone shares this on Facebook or Myspace...maybe Tori will see it and have her as her opening artist, or collaborate. What do you guys think? Lets start a campaign!

  • 15.057 views... feels like 15.000 of them where mine. Still love it, every time I return.

  • @156Arne haha me too! I'm a big fan. I'm surprised she doesn't get even more views than she gets.

  • I hope Tori Amos has heard this rendition. She would cry. A lot.

  • The original of this song is so... vast and transendent... so spiritual. There almost seems to be no anger in the original... maybe a little disgust at the violators of the land. But this one is so earthy and grounded. I can feel the anger and the hurt so much in this version. And there's something about the blues anyway... raw blues like this that evokes so much emotion... in a different way that the original. I love the rawness of this cover and the earthiness.

  • SHE IS AWSOME!!!

  • You are undeniably talented. You have a beautiful voice.

But i don't see how this music is related to the lyrics. I felt that the song somehow lost its meaning when it was played this way.

  • @th3wing3dpaint3r Actually, the lap guitar she's playing is a dying tradition and style that was once strong in eastern N.C. native american communities. So, in that aspect the music is related to the lyrical meaning.

  • pure perfection! -[]-[]-/\-[]-[]- Blessings.

  • HOLY - SHIT. it takes a lot to leave me speechless, GIRL. This is an immaculate cover - bringing something completely rare and new to the song. And your voice, ...I am watching.

  • I still get goosebumps all over whenever I hear this!

  • well theres really only one word....AMAZING, this is my first post on youtube but had to say that

    thank you for that

  • holy shit, it took me about half the video to actually identify this as the same song.

probably the perfect person to cover this song.

  • One word.... Awesome.

  • Tori Amos would love this! Blessed Pura Fe. One of my favorite artist covering my favorite artist. She never ceases to amaze me.

  • tori would love it cuz she aint trying to be tori....very bluesy very cool

  • As a Native American, Pura Fe has done so much for Indian country thru her music...like Taj Mahal said her music transcends time and brings the message of our Ancestors to us today!! I can feel our ancestors when she sings!

  • This woman has an energy I can only admire and respect. Absolutely amazing!

  • this was incredible!!!!! i think tori would be pleased

  • I agree. Tori would probably love this. I think this cover along with those of the PS22 children's chorus are some of the best Tori covers on youtube.

  • I love it :] Completely original but utterly brilliant.

  • this is one of my favorites this gave me chills :D

  • Pura Fe, a friend gave me your CD "Hold The Rain' and I can't stop listening to it..good stuff!! I hope to see you perform in the future!

  • i like it :)

  • Does anyone else hear an essence of Janis Joplin in Pura sometimes?

In this song, I hear it in her vocal control around 1:28.

    Utterly gorgeous.

  • I hear some Janis...and some Joni Mitchell maybe...but she definitely has her own style.

  • Watch her improv video under her vidoes....fantastic!

  • @neoliberalism Oh yes. Great comparison.

  • Comment removed

  • each one his opinion and taste...

  • By that reasoning, I assume you wouldn't consider Tori's version of Losing My Religion a cover. You can't get any different than that.

  • I really want this on mp3. Anyone know how I can get it?

  • not sure, but look Pura Fe up on myspace for links to her albums.

  • She has a great voice...her summertime is awesome...not too many people can sing that song like that.

  • She should do a studio recording of this. Would be awesome! Or maybe a duet with Tori? lol

  • im also a hardcore tori fan...this is very good! creative and i love when people do their own versions...

    good work..keep them coming

  • I am a hardcore Tori fan. But this is just so amazing!!! I like this version better! I can't believe it. Wow, Good shit!

  • this is absolutely brilliant! I love it!

  • superb.

  • this is so cool! what kind of guitar is that??

  • It's a Dobro. ;o)

  • I like it. Great job.

  • Amazing interpretation and very creative!!!

  • beautiful...this almost sounds it belongs on the Boys for Pele album! lol

  • This is Scarlet's Walk. She didn't change all of the lyrics, she just sings them differently. I love Tori's version, and I think this one is an interesting take. Love the sound, and I'm GLAD you didn't do a boring literal interpretation of it. Thanks for posting.

  • Just because someone says Leaving terra .. that dont make it scarlets walk .. sorry i dont like the fact that its called scarlets walk.

  • So you're saying that Tori Amos should have renamed every song on Strange Little Girls because none of them sound like the originals, Right?

  • She DIDN'T change the lyrics!

  • What the fuck does that even mean?

It has the same cords and the same lyrics. It's scarlet's walk.

  • This isnt Scarlets Walk what is this ?

  • Well this is amazing! Great. You have a great voice!

  • That was so awesome. Your voice is amazing.

  • Love this! Search for her cover of Summertime on youtube. Its awesome too.

  • Cool, I'll definitely check out that one. Summertimes one of my favorite songs.

  • Absolutely jaw dropping. Hats off to you girl, incredible.

  • Hey Pura Fe. This is Dre. U r truely inspirational. Thank U!!

  • Nicely done! A lil bit of Janis Joplin & Tori. Loved it!

  • Because, when Tori Amos covers a song, she always makes it sound just like the original herself, hey?

There's no point in doing a cover if you don't make it different!

  • Wow. Truckloads of respect for this one. I have to say, she's better at hanging out with other people's songs and performing her own special friendship with them than Tori.

  • Wauw.. truly a great musician!!

  • absolutely amazing video. Also nothing more attractive than a woman who is also an awesome musician

  • wow! on the dulcimer!

    that is beyond awesome

  • this is very very cool

  • To the negative commenter, if you read the info on here this song is a tribute to Tori Amos at a tribute show. Pura Fe has her own style and is well respected in Indian Country (USA,Canada, Mexico and Latin America) and in Europe, why should mimic Tori when she has her own uniques style as this arrangement exemplifies. Viva El Blues! Viva Pura Fe!!!

  • scarlet's walk is one of my favorite songs. thanks for posting this cover. is very nice.

  • I've always loved Pura Fe's work especially with Ulali ...beautiful harmony, definitely worth checking out. ,and I've always liked Tori so this was a special treat. Its the raw emotion that she pours into this song that moves you. Just Wonderful.

  • Very true, I think that's what makes it so impressive.

  • I loved your contributions to the Robbie Robertson album, Mahk Jchi is beautiful! This cover is very interesting. I love Tori more than anything else and I don't think I've ever heard anything like this, very impressive.

  • Wow, this lady OWNS this song. Way better than the original version, which I wouldn't even have noticed this was a cover of if it wasn't in the title. Fantastic!

  • That's blasphomy and bullshit. Tori OWNS this song TO HELL and BACK. This is very nice, but it can NEVER be Tori.

  • I think you're getting upset for no reason. I think what people are saying is that this song has been reworked by this musician to a point that its become a completely different creation than the original. And it has, she changed it and made it her own song. I wonder what Tori would think about this.

  • i'm a huge tori fan and this cover is brilliant, its a totally magnificent creation

  • You are really freat. I loved it.

  • VERY VERY VERY COOL

  • Good stuff. Excellent voice.

  • I love this! she's amazing! I think I like her version better than tori's.

  • Shut your moth! That's crazy talk!

  • you're fucking crazy

  • Wow. She took this inside and gave birth to a whole new (and beautiful) creature. Makes me wish I could have seen the whole show if the artists did a fraction of what she accomplished.

  • really nice!

  • Very dynamic. Nice to see a native american perform this song too. i have to say I like it better than Tori's.

  • it sounds good musically, but you killed the song.

  • I personally think she added life to a very dull song. It was one of the songs on the album that I always skipped over.

  • To each his own, It's my third favorite tori song of all songs she's ever done.

  • you should listen to the solo Scarlet's Walk. It's not good on the album but it's awesome solo with Tori on the piano.

  • cool
