This is the best amos cover I have ever heard. You should have a million views. Try your darndest to have Tori listen. You are the kind of artist she needs for an opening act...hopefully then to become a collaborator.
@jsensation1 If everyone shares this on Facebook or Myspace...maybe Tori will see it and have her as her opening artist, or collaborate. What do you guys think? Lets start a campaign!
The original of this song is so... vast and transendent... so spiritual. There almost seems to be no anger in the original... maybe a little disgust at the violators of the land. But this one is so earthy and grounded. I can feel the anger and the hurt so much in this version. And there's something about the blues anyway... raw blues like this that evokes so much emotion... in a different way that the original. I love the rawness of this cover and the earthiness.
@th3wing3dpaint3r Actually, the lap guitar she's playing is a dying tradition and style that was once strong in eastern N.C. native american communities. So, in that aspect the music is related to the lyrical meaning.
HOLY - SHIT. it takes a lot to leave me speechless, GIRL. This is an immaculate cover - bringing something completely rare and new to the song. And your voice, ...I am watching.
As a Native American, Pura Fe has done so much for Indian country thru her music...like Taj Mahal said her music transcends time and brings the message of our Ancestors to us today!! I can feel our ancestors when she sings!
I agree. Tori would probably love this. I think this cover along with those of the PS22 children's chorus are some of the best Tori covers on youtube.
This is Scarlet's Walk. She didn't change all of the lyrics, she just sings them differently. I love Tori's version, and I think this one is an interesting take. Love the sound, and I'm GLAD you didn't do a boring literal interpretation of it. Thanks for posting.

No .. But Strangle Little Girls was a concept album of the male songs being now sung by a female so they were supposed to be different. Also Tori kept the majority of lyrics in the songs. She didnt change ALL Of THEM, like you did. You can call this Scarlets Walk , but I dont consider it Toris Scarlets Walk. Its YOUR Scarlets Walk.
Wow. Truckloads of respect for this one. I have to say, she's better at hanging out with other people's songs and performing her own special friendship with them than Tori.
To the negative commenter, if you read the info on here this song is a tribute to Tori Amos at a tribute show. Pura Fe has her own style and is well respected in Indian Country (USA,Canada, Mexico and Latin America) and in Europe, why should mimic Tori when she has her own uniques style as this arrangement exemplifies. Viva El Blues! Viva Pura Fe!!!
I've always loved Pura Fe's work especially with Ulali ...beautiful harmony, definitely worth checking out. ,and I've always liked Tori so this was a special treat. Its the raw emotion that she pours into this song that moves you. Just Wonderful.
I loved your contributions to the Robbie Robertson album, Mahk Jchi is beautiful! This cover is very interesting. I love Tori more than anything else and I don't think I've ever heard anything like this, very impressive.
Wow, this lady OWNS this song. Way better than the original version, which I wouldn't even have noticed this was a cover of if it wasn't in the title. Fantastic!
I think you're getting upset for no reason. I think what people are saying is that this song has been reworked by this musician to a point that its become a completely different creation than the original. And it has, she changed it and made it her own song. I wonder what Tori would think about this.
Wow. She took this inside and gave birth to a whole new (and beautiful) creature. Makes me wish I could have seen the whole show if the artists did a fraction of what she accomplished.
This is superb. I've come across this so many times. Totally rocks my socks off each time :)

You are undeniably talented. You have a beautiful voice.
But i don't see how this music is related to the lyrics. I felt that the song somehow lost its meaning when it was played this way.

Does anyone else hear an essence of Janis Joplin in Pura sometimes?
In this song, I hear it in her vocal control around 1:28.
Utterly gorgeous.
neoliberalism 3 years ago
I hear some Janis...and some Joni Mitchell maybe...but she definitely has her own style.

If it wasn't written I'd have never guessed this is Scarlet's Walk... this song is not a cover, it is another song with the same lyrics...
one thing is a shame, the sensitivity of Tori Amos' Scarlet's Walk is lost here.

By that reasoning, I assume you wouldn't consider Tori's version of Losing My Religion a cover. You can't get any different than that.
