Well, it seems to me that Honduras basically just applied her Constitution and kicked that little traitor out. If he comes bak to Tegucigalpa with his faggot international cronies (Insulza), héll be jailed along with his friends. What the Congress of Honduras should now do is to change the Constitution and approve the death penalty for treason. Thus if Zelaya comes back, he should be captured, given a fair but short trial and at dawn taken out to the new EL PAREDON and shot to death.
This was a coup, but not in the traditional sense... more like a "hybrid coup". Still not the way to go because of all the trouble it leads to, and the fact that Mr. Zelaya was duly elected. But the Supreme Court and the Congress, through the armed forces, acted out of frustration and fear that Mr. Zelaya was ready to dissolve the Congress and hold on to power indefinitely. I am a progressive liberal, but I must say this analysis is truly intellectually infantile. Sorry..
Its called "golpe civico-militar" the new modus operandi of the United States in Latin America. They been seeding the idea for about 4 years thruout the region.
The coup was clearly illegal. But Mr. Zelaya provoked it by several moves designed to move Honduras to a quasi--socialist state (similar to Chavez's Venezuela). Zelaya essentially has been acting like a dictator for the past few months, completely ignoring all the other institutions of government, including the Congress, the Supreme Court, as well as his own Attorney General and his own Liberty party and the country's Human Rights Commissioner.
Horribly unbalanced and misinformed analysis. The NYU professor really needs to catch up on his history of Honduras. It's like he's stuck in the 1980s and assume that absolutely nothing has changed in the country. His comments are sadly outdated and narrow-minded. Honduras' military is not the military it had in the 1980s. It is much more professional.
