Hey there, personally I think you've got a defective model of the system, I've had mine for 1.5 months now at 3100 miles, and the one time MyFord froze was in the dealership parking lot and it took 5 mins to reboot. As far as I know, it's up to date as of 1/18/2012.
I love our Focus and it sucks you're having trouble with yours cause otherwise it's a great car. Hopefully the new MFT will solve it or the dealer will put in a new system.
okay, so i understand your frustration...but I also own a 2012 ford focus..my system randomly wont turn on or it would freeze and do whatever...when it freezes like that your supposed to turn the car off and it will go off shortly after that...that always works with mine.

No other system on the market does this, I'm disgusted that the system was even green-lighted with THAT as a requirement much less all this. Between this and the transmission, this car is a massive disappointment...this is coming from somebody whose favorite car company is Ford.
Forget MFT, GPS and all that. You can get 3rd party equivalents for a lot cheaper and since its not as tied in with the computer as much you shouldn't have as many problems. I have never really been a fan of Fords auto trans, so get the manual and problem solved. Why would you bother buying an automatic if you are looking for performance anyways?
Have you tried calling Ford Customer Service or Ford Credit for assistance? Have you tried bringing the car to a different Ford dealership for repairs? Have you talked to the service manager at the dealership and asked to have an appointment with the Ford Service Field Rep? I've worked in the automotive industry for over 20 years, every manufacturer has issues that some customers experience.There are ways to get assistance from the manufacturer. Have you tried contacting Ford on Ford Social?
Three months ago I got rid of this problem by disconnecting the battery for 10min. Have not had a single issue with it since. If your having this issue and your not stubborn, its a simple fix!
@mercmilano6 Your not the only one having issues with the Ford Sync system. But now Hyundai has the Blue link system for their cars I have heard they are having issues too, so don't feel bad it has nothing to do with the Ford company itself its the people who made the system for the car I would not only just got after Ford for help but also Microsoft. But thats my opinion.

Fully understand your frustration. Ever have a computer lock up on you? Blue screen of death? The CNRL-ALT-DEL for this car is by pulling Fuse 67 for about 5 mins. I too am hopeful that the USB update will address these issues. I've only had the "lock-up" happen once so far - 1.5 months of ownership.
So aside from the my ford touch problems, would you say that it is a good drivers car, or if someone were to buy a focus without the my ford touch screen, would you recommend it?
@Uuuuuu15 Yes, this is a driver's car. The Mazda3 might be a hair sharper, but this car really does have the best chassis in the class...handles cornering very well. It rides with the comfort of a bigger car, the suspension doesn't crash over bumps, and it inspires a lot of confidence in the corners. Good, accurate steering and a smooth engine that's willing to rev make this a great driver's car.
Have you tried contacting Ford corporate to see what they have to say? I know you have had it to the dealers a few times. I haven't been having this many issues with mine, just a couple quirks now and then.
@petergriffin4200 the new Camry doesn't come even close to how this car drives and it's very dull I'd say to trade this in for a focus without the my ford touch system
I would definitely be fighting the dealer on this one, and showing them the videos you have taken. These issues are way out of control! Ford and the dealership need to step up and fix this!
@TJC450 It'll be fine. Just like Sync on its own, it works fine and is great for basic functions. The problem is MyFordTouch or incorporating all key controls of the car into a touch screen. UVO is just like a Basic version of Sync for the Voice control, It doesn't control things like the air conditioning
This model has so much potential to change Ford's image. It's a real bummer how much you hate it now, considering you were pleased with it for only a month-ish.
Also I've look at videos from other focus owners and a lot of them never had that kind of problems. I guess it's like playing lottery you have couple of chances to fall on a bad one... I don't know hopefully I'll also get lucky and mine don't crash like that...
Can you ask for a downgrade or something until the new version get fixed????? I know there are ways to bypass the whole system. I'll look into it in case mine does the same....

I know I've said this before, but my Explorer hasn't been hit quite this bad. Its frozen like that once immediately after I did a software update, but it normally does the scheduled maintenance and that's it. Most of the problems I've heard of in MFT seem to be in the Focus or the early Edges. I wonder if it has to do with the specific build used in the Focus?
If I bought a Focus, or any new Ford, I would not buy one with the MyFordTouch. It's more than I need lol. My 2010 Fusion has Sync and that's good enough. Besides the Touch thing, Ford's are pretty reliable now. At least mine has been.
@giannial1985 This issue has nothing to do with the vehicles drive ability Sync wasn't made by Ford so this should be point fingers directly to Ford. Ford can't fix it alone has to deal with Microsoft the people who made and developed for Ford. Everything has glitches its the new Gen of Sync of course its going to have Bugs in it. People need to decided just not to get that feature or wait for a fix. You can still drive a the car right..
@soyntgo4it I didn't say that it affects the drive ability of the car. I wouldn't buy a car with MyFordTouch in it. I'd leave that option out of it. I have a 2010 Fusion SEL with the regular Sync system and I love it and it's all I need.
@giannial1985 Not really if you think about it Ford is just making their cars smaller smaller so they get good MPG but in reality only old people would need that little of a car

@Jackass0823 I'm not offended. But the new Fusion for 2013 is even bigger then the current model. The current Focus is pretty much the same size as the previous generation. Ford's compact and sub compact cars have always been small. I had a 99 Escort. Very tight rear seat.
@giannial1985 Well I think the 2013 fusion is bigger compared to this version. And the reason I think that your 99 Escort had a small back seat is because Ford must have thought that the "rich" parents would buy the escort for their child so I think it is 1 of those goofing off kinda cars if you get it used.
@Jackass0823 The Escort used to be my mom's car lol. The Fusion I drive is really hers too, but I use it the most. The Escort shared the frame and everything else with the Mazda Protege, except the engine. Just like the current Fusion shares almost everything with the Mazda6.
