Why are animal rights activists targeted as terrorists?

1) to get the attention from the general public away from the real bad things in the world, like wars, Monsanto, pollution, corruption and so on

This is a reason I never claim to be "patriotic". I don't believe in just, "we the people" I am completely aware that "people" and animals are all interactive and for that reason... it is a "joke" to me when anyone talks of Human Beings and Animal Beings as not being connected and equal in life-value. I think we in the animal rights movement should really hit the books to find out what helped the other social movements (civil rights, women's movement, etc.) succeed. I've seen the case made that these would not have succeeded without both their "pacifist" side as well as their willingness to break laws.

I agree with what Vlasak's saying: if a vegan world is possible through legislation and peaceful protest, great. The question is, how long are we prepared to wait? Hundreds more years?

Almost everyone who criticizes violence and law-breaking in the animal rights movement misses the point: it's not the violence, the burning of buildings, the breaking of laws, etc. that they really object to. It's who it's done for... If it was a question of breaking laws to rescue humans being legally experimented on in cruel ways, no one would object to the busting down of the doors, the spray-painting of walls, etc. No one would say "try to change the laws first."
