I have learnt that knowing your rights and co operation gets you much further. I have never had a bad encounter with the cops even when they could have made my life worse. Just an opinion.

So assuming you are in Cape Town, i shall refer the City By-Law "Relating to Streets, Public Places GN 6469, Dated 28/09/2007, Sect 3(c) states, no person shall without consent of the City (Permits etc) Cause, permit or attempt to sell any goods or services in such a place. Furthermore it states in Sect 2(2) no person shall disobey a peace officer(Law Enforcement, Metro police, Traffic Officer or SAPS) or interfere him or her in the execution of their duties.
