my old teenage hangout. and the other complex that was torn down first on the other side of the boulevard. awesome... but dangerous? only if you were so drunk you effed yourself up. but to those who dont know it can look scary... good times that's for damn sure!!
Wow, totally pushing it on the "this time it could turn deadly" or whatever that guy said. How many UExs managed to go in those buildings and not get themselves killed? Oh the joy of TV and virtual thrills.
They are hyping this up way too hard. I went to Byberry plenty of times and never feared for my life...afraid of getting arrested thats a different story.
I miss Byberry, wish I got to go there one last time before they tore it down.
Fair enough, but how else would you define "hype"? Watch it again - you never went there with a camera crew and had to walk through the flooded Underdark, or were inside when the place was on fire. Or, if you have, make a video and hype away! :)
We met a LOT of people while there...one group liked setting fires. We put out a few of them, but when the smoke started filling up the halls, we knew we didn't get to all of them. But, that's what urban exploration is about - handling everything they throw at us and getting out in one piece.
rofl this is hilarious...byberry was never scary to me i had a couple of weird experience but nothing terrifying...your mind plays tricks you know...byberry felt like a second home to me...and like others said you didnt worry about your life in the building you worried about getting out with no handcuffs on...
That is ridiculous. Getting out with your lives? I went to Byberry at least 20 times. I had the place memorized. You didn't have to worry about getting out with your lives, you had to worry about getting out without handcuffs.
this place is no more. it used to be at the intersection of roosevelt blvd (rt-1) and southampton rd. look it up on google maps and you can see the overhead view of it.
I grew up in the neighborhood and we would go through those buildings a lot in the seventies. As some of the buildings were being phased out, they forgot to turn off the electricity. We would go in and have a good old time. There was also an extensive underground tunnel system that led to all the buildings. One night during a Keg party, we entered the underground, got into the commissary and had ice cream. Those were fun times.
i rember a movie about this hosiptal its about the ghost hunters who died in there others found the evil and demonic forces in there it was fairly scary movie
I used to go there all the time. I haven't gone since october, though. I don't think I will ever go back b/c its being torn down....I love that place.
~soo KooL....i cant wait to watch it..~ApriL~

Scary? Most of the teenagers in north-east Philly partied there. The only thing scary was the tons of broken beer bottles
