Hearing her live in this performance in Houston was one of my biggest thrills to date. So inspiring--I fell in love with Handel that night-amazing production-I never wanted her arias to end! How many performers can you say THAT about when it comes to a Handel opera?!:)
what a positively eerie adaptation.. what was the theme? space cleopatra? that having been said she's a wonderful rendition to this aria! viva Handel!
James Robinson's co-production for Houston Grand Opera, Opera Colorado, and Utah Opera, seen in Wortham Theater Center's Cullen Theater. With Christine Jones's sets and James Schuette's costumes giving the production an Art Deco-era flair, director Robinson turned the opera into a 1930s Busby Berkeley-style movie musical being filmed on a Hollywood back lot.
It was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL opera!! I saw it back in 2003 - TWICE! :)
Thank you for the post. very enjoyable!

Too bad that the quality of this video is like this - otherwise seems to be a nice production.
