  • No kuzushi before sankyo IMHO

  • Well, I rode ikyo, you know, but still you must hold your other hand on the ellbow, I learned this from my sensei, who learned it from a Japanese 10th dan, don't know his name though... My sensei said, that this is a common mistake, and that allot of people make it.

  • U do the ending wrong =p Ur supposed to hold your other hand on his ellbow to prevent him to get away, or you just do a wristlock =p

  • @hersenbeuker, are you really sure I'm doing "wrong", not just in a different way? As far as I know, I end with a wristlock - that of sankyo.

  • @hersenbeuker I believe that Mr. Aikidostenudd technique is almost flawless. The ending is acceptable since it puts pressure on his twisted wrist.I've seen from several senseis in some seminars that the "Ikkyo" part of this sankyo should be done fluently as if you were doing a normal ikkyo. The thing is that you don't move like in ikkyo but just change your grab to sankyo (any "pin" is alright as soon as the torsion in the wrist is kept). Aikido means peace and love, let's keep it in that way. :)

  • @Jackfrost83 Well, aikido means litteraly life in harmony with 'ki', but I get what u try to say. But really, if you use ur second hand to block the ellbow, your opponent won't go anywhere.

  • @hersenbeuker We agree on that part my friend =) That's the "secret" basic of that technique. Holding the wrist alone isn't enough to stop Uke's attack (even it is dangerous as Uke's elbow could end hitting Nage's face). I believe it's fascinating all the details in such simple technique. Have you seen all details that Ikkyo may have? (for instance)

    Greetings from Venezuela :)
